There isn't a price anyone could buy my 86 for. Mine has been in the family for about 21 years. My inspiration to turn a wrench when I was little came from helping my old man fix it. Now I work at a Chevrolet dealership. I got a four inch suspension lift like yours with 35 inch 12.5 tires. Family friends have helped me fix it and some are no longer alive. I took out the throttle body injection, smogger engine and put a 79 400 bored .30 over and installed a 72 Carter quadrajet carburetor. I love your videos and I couldn't agree more, long live the square bodies brother!
still my favorite vehicles. I owned 3 during the 70s and 80s. The dashboard is the best. I would like a better Captain's style seat. Plenty of room in the middle for drinks, other electronics etc
Love it! I've owned a 76 Blazer, a 81 Jimmy, 6 Suburbans (used as crew trucks back when I had 33 employees), and currently have a 92 Yukon. It has a 355 c.i. under the hood, Falken Wildpeak AT3's 33x12.50 - 15's, 3" body lift. Gas mileage sucks at 9.5 mpg but, it'll get me anywhere I wanna go. I've replaced every major component, except for the transmission. My Yukon has some 'cancer', that needs to be repaired. That may come next Spring.
I had that exact same Blazer when I was 18. I never should have got rid of it. I recently bought a 1990 2500 Suburban and love it. Still the squarebody and solid front axle too.
I purchased a 83 K5 yesterday it comes with a 6 inch lift on Mickey Thompson 35’s. No rust no bondo true Texas truck only needs a transmission payed 3k.
You only need one reason to buy a K5 , there badass. We just won’t mention the common striker bolt area cracking and the stock anemic 350 TBIs or worse 305 but hey that’s what the aftermarket is for. I’m buying another soon that I’m going to put a 6.0 LQ4 in (“LS”) and a 4L80E I already have a complete running doner 2500hd. My last K5 was badass with a built 327.
If you can, could you do a video of basic maintenance in the future? Or maybe first time buyer video? Like what to look out for when buying a blazer. I just found one near me this week a guy is selling it’s great inside and outside. But my pops never really showed me what to look out for
I got one for yall, hood springs. Everyone has gone to the support struts. I despise those. I like the old Square body's, an actual spring or coil spring. Never need to worry about that wearing out and hitting you on the head. Lol
I think you love your blazer too much, and I get it, I love mine too. Mine is 86,305, 700r. Sitting on 32s. Grab them while you can. Chevys always cruising, 😉😉
Yeah fuel pumps for these older vehicles r easy to replace only 10 minutes and u done and there extremely cheap, for example the fuel pump for mi 77 Oldsmobile is $18 and it's right under the A/c compressor easy to access, and yeah fuel injectors R ridiculously experience there $85 each for mi 1988 Lincoln Town Car, I did a carburator convertion that one and took out all the computer bushit
I miss the space between the seats and the center console. I have a 22 f150 now, first truck since I parted ways with my blazer when I was 20. Dropped my debit card in that area while at a drive thru atm and got my hand stuck trying to get it. Worst kind of stuck too, a piece of trim I pushed out of the way popped back out and held me hostage. Looked like an idiot pulling around to the side parking lot with my hand stuck, not the safest way to drive either. Literally had to get out of the car to get a good enough angle to get freed. The lack of space in new cars and trucks is no joke.
lowride25 oh HELL YEAHHH! that’s about the same as a tacoma! the 89 k5 i was checking out was a 350. yeah i wasn’t too sure about buying it because a buddy of mine has a k5 with a built motor and he says it gets 6-8 miles a gallon lol. the one im currently looking at just got a new transmission, 4 wheel drive, new fuel tank and pump, and new exhaust. im looking for something that will last and could be my daily driver without having to constantly be replacing the transmission or engine or something of that sort every year... would you recommend?
I'd check the floor boards on those 70's models they rusted through a lot unless they were out west in a warm climate or always garaged in northern areas. The galvinized steel they used back then wasn't that great on some of them. Check out the frame too. Other than that they are cheap and easy to fix up.
