Howdy folks, its been busy! I couldn’t figure out what protocol the original PCB was running, so I created a replacement, partially funded by OshPark - so thanks Drew and Laen (+all other purple folks)! Anyway, watch as we compare boards, power it up, program it and test running the basic pan and tilt firmware.

That was an expensive two cents!

Nice project! Man, thanks for reminding me to look at those modular switching regulators. Every time I want to add a buck/boost converter to my design I always try to build one from scratch (controller, (fet), instructor, jelly beans) and it's often such a waste of time when complete assembled and tested modules already exist.

I really appreciate your two cents! Will need to make a meme out of it... "not all embedded is a linux computer" or "use the right type of tool for the job" or similar. :D

There was a more obnoxious version which included an angle grinder, but my memory card was corrupted somehow. Thanks!

Hahaha! The third version should include a jack hammer for percussive maintenance and TIG or MIG welder for soldering. Now that I think about it: Was the memory card corrupted after you used the angle grinder to defragment the filesystem on it? :D

Piotr Esden-Tempski all good suggestions! I think I just snagged the memory card from the camera before it finalized writing. Live and learn I'm still a noob when it comes to video. Will keep that suggestion filed away about soldering with a mig though.

Better late to the party than not at all … Thanks for this great series. Interested to know what instruments you have in your rack behind you in the end. Some look like old style HP. It does get pretty tiring to hear all the kiddies say, "why didn't you just …"

isn't a pic32 3v3 only?
@AmRadPodcast
@AmRadPodcast 6 лет назад
Ben De Lathouwer yes.. I should have mentioned, the pic gets 3.3v, outputs are shifted to 5, inputs are using 5v tolerant pins.
@geekrulz1

and where do you generate the 3v3?
@AmRadPodcast

Ben De Lathouwer one of the recom regulators. Did I say 5v? Oops, too bad annotations are gone
@AmRadPodcast

The other recom is 5v not 12... guess I edited that bit out. Crap. Thanks for pointing it out
