I feel bad for her. He is unbelievably lazy and entitled. He wants to teach so he can have summers off? He wants to be a dentist so he can set his own hours? He’s 35 years old, lives at home for free and doesn’t help his parents with yard work? Still working on a bachelors at that age? It seems clear that all of his decisions are around putting in the least amount of effort possible
@jenniferwang3489
@jenniferwang3489 2 года назад
I agree. And it’s no picnic to be safe n that situation. Summers off means you don’t get paid, unless you take a pay cut to be paid less but receive a check every month. It takes extra planning to be a 9 or 10 month employee.

Right?! The sad thing is how much of his laziness and entitlement was caused by his parents. How much better they did on the golf course challenge should tell them how much they failed him, but instead they just laugh and celebrate the fact that their kid is struggling to understand and calculate the everyday expenses in the challenge.

@secondhandrooms507
@secondhandrooms507 Год назад
They are Mormon. Culturally he was very old in getting married. 23-26 years old is average for men. They likely feared he was never going to get married… them saying “that” daughter in law likely meant they really love her or just excited to get one in general.

It’s disturbing that the average monthly cash (untraceable) spending was almost $3000, and then at the last minute when he thought nobody was looking he takes $800 in cash. Gail (or the tv show producers) decided not to jeopardize the episode’s feel-good-ish ending by trying to expose where all that cash was ending up, but it definitely felt like there was an unaddressed bad behavior/addiction beyond just “buying stuff.”

Yes, and The Parents do that without realizing. Also some folks may disagree with me but when you are an Only Child, you get all of the attention and you don't know how to compromise. Another thing that The Husband should have worn is an Apron. When folks ask why he's wearing the Apron it's because he doesn't know how to remove the Apron Strings from his family.

In Australia, university used to be free for all students - hence why you had people with more degrees than a thermometer. It became user pays just as I started - mind you a 3 year undergrads degree is 1/3 the cost of the USA now. Professional Students were taking the places of younger students until it became impossible to get free education. Once you earn an income your loan is repaid voluntarily or by any tax refunds. I managed to work full time & study at night to get my degrees. My employer was good enough to pay for 90% of the costs too.
@justine8387

University is absolutely not free in Australia. It was free for around 10 years in 1970s and 1980s but then it changed. I used to work with young lawyers who had around 75k in debt. You are wrong and out of touch.
@matthewbrown6163
@matthewbrown6163 10 месяцев назад
@@justine8387 Yes Gough Whitam removed the Free University Fees. Just as I was about the start it was user pays but we had CAEs too that were later made into universities. University was never for the poor & the grades needed to be alot higher. I look back at what I would have been charged now & was thankful for employer support. Hmmmmmmmmm considering I just completed my 2nd Masters a few years ago I am fully aware of the costs. I would never outlay such an outcome for a piece of paper when a Diploma in IT would come close to a lifetime career.

Summers off? I am not a teacher but most teachers I know either get a second seasonal summer job ( Cafes, grocery stores, cleaning or hobbies) to help supplement their income. Or they take additional summer courses to help further their teaching. As for the wife, she should of been more on his case about any debt before they got married. She assumed that living in Canada is easy money. NO, we Canadians work our butts off.

If I knew he was in such financial debt, I would have said "Bye Bye Baby". The debt doesn't go away it gets worse. I keep track of everything I buy. He wants to complete an undergraduate degree and then go to dental school? I don't know what Canada is like, but dentistry here in the UK is incredibly competitive, amd it takes a long time to qualify. I'm not sure how realistic that is when there's about to be a baby to take care of. I'm glad they seemed much more "on it" at the end. I was actually a bit surprised that she didn't give the whole 5k, as though he's not an outwardly vigorous man, it seems like they both tried hard.
