Well, that explains it all. If this is suppose to be educational, class is suppose to be everyday. ha ha. Teresa, I'd say Richard did something right and maintained a happy wife if it's lasted 35 yrs. Congrats to you both! May you have another 35!
Happy Anniversary! We're at 32! This may be the first time I have seen you catch someone that mixed up the case and valve body gaskets. You mention it all the time.
I love the 350 builds I save all the video's.. The one I built according to your specs behind my 455 oldsmobile works great. Some good tips in this one.
First off, Happy Anniversary y’all! I have always had excellent luck after rebuilding TH-350’s (still have one here working great since rebuilding in 1999 with over 100k since rebuilding). But I’m scared to death to tear into my 96 Roadmaster’s 4L60E.
Notice how the 727 and 904 don’t have a low reverse clutch pack, while the TH 350 does. A stock TH 350 is good condition runs very silent and smooth, that’s why Richard beefs them up so they’ll hold together on the drag strip and you can count and feel the shifts.
Richard you should mention transtar has rear end parts also. Particularly the new Ford super 8.8 parts. No one else keeps them in stock but transtar has been a savior for me.
Hoping that yall had a Happy Anniversary !!! I was a little jealous seeing the snow pics. I also seen Braydon's dragster transmission sitting there !!!!
@Richard & Teresa Educational Transmission Videos Awesome !! If you need or want some details on Braydon or the dragster for a video let me know and we will get them to ya...
Please let us know when the next race for the Dirty Bird will be so we can anticipate a video. Isn't your daughter still racing the one-lunger drag car? I enjoyed watching you working on her car. And the Dirty Bird...
I've learned so much from Richard over the years and even though I don't repair transmissions I can identify potential problems on other youtubers videos. Case in point, not checking torque converter clearance when installing transmission back to flex plate after replacing main bearing seal. Only doing a flush when the tranny was contaminated by coolant and fluid looks like chocolate milk.
I found to maintain tight tolerances in an old TH350 I’m cutting .165 off the piston to add a 5th clutch and steel not .175. I know that’s knitpicky but .165 is the thickness of a soaked clutch, a steel, and an additional 25% float gap.
I have a 09 chevy 4.3 2wd lost D,3,2,1 have N,P,R... happen about 10 yards from when I stop at intersection. I swear I hit a big pot hole and felt like the truck went into neutral because it just rev up looked down and was still in Drive pulled over and had to get it towed.
Aluminum or steel cap will interchange you might be able to get that O-ring from Transtar separately not sure though I would leave the spring out though. It will firm up second gear just a little.
Since the only G.M. automatic transmission Jeep used was the TH400, and this 350 has the Chevrolet bolt pattern, somebody done an engine and transmission swap. Thing is, they should have dropped in a 360 Jeep engine and they could have used a Jeep (GM) TH400 transmission.
Amazing how a couple mistakes can totally trash a transmission. If I was the owner of that one I would use your video as evidence to get reimbursed from whoever did such a trash job on that one.
