The day that everything (almost) went wrong for me!
A very early start to get to Carlisle for the Flyer's scheduled arrival - only to discover that it had run early and was already in the platform before my train arrived.
The discovery that the mounting plate for my tripod was missing - my hands are so shaky these days that much of the ensuing footage had to be binned. I've only used the best (sorry - least worst) snips so the end result is not up to my usual standard.
The intense ultra-low sunlight caused further problems - at least, I was on the better side of the station.
With twelve hours before the return trip, I had planned a peaceful trip around the Cumbrian coast to enjoy a leisurely pub lunch with an old friend in Barrow-in-Furness. How was I to know that Carlisle were playing Barrow that very day? The two-and-a-half-hour journey was a nightmare of drunken, rowdy, yobbish behaviour that I hope never to have to repeat.
I chose an early return train to avoid the footballers after the match - the video will tell you what happened.
