Yeah, codex chapters are 100 scouts plus command staff to care for them unless it's the Executioner or Flesh Tearers chapters who have have 2 scout companies each. I've 80 scout minis myself with different weapon load outs. 😁
I'm trying to make a full blood raven's 10th company (all scouts and any space marines that are vanguard) and I think I got the troops I just need everything else
I remember when I got into Space Marines as a kid I enjoyed the early good to fight all evil narrative they had. I think it appealed to me as someone who was raised religious that has tons of the good vs evil narrative in it. And I agree the more you learn about the army the more you realize they are still human. Even the by the books Ultramarines with characters written in 4th ed and some of the more modern ones like Titus who isn't as by the books as you would think. Great video though! Makes me want to get back into collecting Space Marines.
Blood Angels and Space Wolfs are part of Dave's collection, and then they have Dark Angels which are part of Steve's collection. This doesn't even include their 30k armies.
I'm wondering if Dave is going to showcase his entire chaos collection again and how many more he has since the old showcase. because it has got to be much more points than before.
Also I really like these video series because I can go anywhere and watch battle reports the reasons why I keep coming back to miniwargaming are the personalities behind the camera so I think this series plus the open vault series when the sit and talk series are the best!!!!
I was breifly into Warhammer 40k when I was a teen but couldn't afford it, still couldn't really. This is still amazing and I love the communities passion.
Behind every great Space Marine collection is a wife shaking her head. Trust me, mine is still shaking hers. You have a great collection, and an amazing spread across the range
This made me laugh when I thought about Matt telling his partner that he was a spy or something, because he was too scared to tell them he played with toy soldiers for a job... hehehe
You guys should start a campaign that starts with some army scouting a location for a few games (using killteam rules) which then evolves into a normal war for different objective and the a massive war that ends in apocalypse
I have to admit, I did not like Space Marines at first. But after reading a couple of novels about them... I still find them boring. Maybe I should give the Horus Heresy a try, but so far I am not sure if it would change my opinion. Too often the "struggle" they have is either something honour/respect related or their urge to be stupid glory-seekers while having the job to protect people. None of this seems really understandable, rather abstract to me and it is no character development I can be invested in. Since they are immune to fear, they rob their narrative of the chance to show Space Marines overcoming their fear which would give room for actual bravery. They can struggle to overcome a foe that beat them before, but if I am honest, I have not seen this being executed well. And without the fear of dying, I doubt it would have the same feel to it. The one good book series I read about them was the Night Lords triology by Dembski-Bowden and how the renegades try to stay alive and find a reason to do so. But well... They are not the loyal Space Marines. There are some exceptions, for example I do like the Raptor Chapter, which, while also being Space Marines, at least takes their job serious and uses actual Spec Ops tactics, instead of doing the usual "MUH HONOUR!" idiocy. But overall, I have to disagree with those who think they are still human. For me, they are a moving power armour with a battle-focussed brain attached to it.
My Chapter is built specifically around the fact that they are lead by an oblivious, lunatic, military genius. They scavenge all supplies and ignore the codex, and are therefore seen as heretics. Yet they fight for the Emperor, and the madman Eris aims to prove the Diamond Wardens (the chapter which the original founders of this chapter were exiled from) wrong. Even though he's a heretic causing more harm than good.
Looks like those white scars on the left are ready to rumble. Look at all those Land speeders and nothing but a lot of tactical squads. Who's personal army is that?
I love it, but I really dont like the bright green with the yellow. But really nice army and paintjobs, I think this video is getting me back in the hobby:D
Just wanna say that you're very wrong in thinking its harder to make your own chaos faction. In fact its easier than most, for you see chaos is chaos and as such chaos does what chaos wants, which is whatever it wants. Plus with chapters going renegade every day......... yea its safe to say that you are only limited by your own imagination.
I’m trying to collect all the units of space marines and have them 10 times and paint all 10 chapters and I’m only using the forgeworld and Horus heresy marines for the ultramarines
I'm still kinda new to 40k, only been in for a few months, and my first army has been Space Marines. I tried playing Black Templars at first, didn't really like them, made a Salamanders successor I call the Komodos. Prefer salamanders alot more (even though I don't really use alot of flame weapons...). Although, if I'm honest, I kinda wish I had gotten into the hobby with a different army, now that I've played marines for several games. They just don't feel all that interesting to play, for me. Now, granted, my collection is largely primaris models, so many would likely say that that is my problem. I don't know...maybe chapter approved will give marines some new fun rules or change up the models, but right now I just kinda wish I'd bought into anybody else, instead. Main reason I started with Marines was because me and a friend of mine went halfsies on the Dark Imperium box and he was quite adamant in his choice that he wanted the Death Guard in the box. Now I'm just kinda stuck with this army...
I just started my space marine army with the shadow spear box and I want to get into the white scar. What units would you recommend to start out white scar?
Yes, they recently purchased something like two hundred models. You can see some of them in Open Vaults, where the guys are changing their bases from square to round.
miniwargaming. I am currently working on my own space marine army and while I know what I want my army to be, I don't know enough fluff to know which chapter they are from. Are there any factions (especially one with a codex) that fights specifically against chaos?
