Be safe Bjarne! Had my brain shook twice in the last 3 years from falling branch’s and nothing the previous 22 years. You can have all the experience in the world and a tree can still bite you, no matter how careful you are! Thanks for sharing your world.

Tell us about the timber thieves. Why and how do they even get the wood out. Really enjoy your videos!

I know all too well how dangerous logging is. My family logged for 4 generations falling timber and my grandfather owned his own company. They all had their fair share of close calls. So it was known early on that it was a job dad gramps or my uncle could go to work that morning but not come home. Nothing was taken for granted and everything on the job was taken very seriously it had to be to keep everyone safe. Watching your videos brings back memories watching dad gramps or my uncle fall trees especially dad who fell timber for roughly 30 years in the Northern California Serra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe in Eldorado county. Falling very similar trees as you are. In the mid elevations 3-5 thousand feet he fell pondarosa pine white fir Douglas fir sugar pine and western red cedar along with a few scattered black oaks and broad leaf maple. Up higher 5-8 thousand feet it was mostly white fir silver tip fir and lodge pole pine with a mix of scattered sugar pine western white pine red cedar incense cedar and a very few black oak. But the terrain was every bit as steep as what you are working in. Flat ground as we called it was a rarity except for the ridges and a few benches on the mountains. Bee safe out there.

Dangerous work you do out there, and I'm so glad that you take the time to video everything. The new mic is a great idea. Learning stuff and being entertained at the same time. Thank you.

IMO, the small number of injuries relative to the nature of the operation and the power of the saws used by the crew, speaks volumes for the skill and creativity of the fallers. Well done, Bjarne!

That rain. I remember so well the rain at Fort Lewis, Washington, while "qualifying" on the rifle range in the winter rain. Shot "Expert" while standing in 4 inches of water, in the rain. So, I get miserable. Stay safe on the mountain, Bjarne.

I remember one time i was looking over a big cliff and i was holding onto a lil fir tree. Then it was the weirdest feeling cause the entire ground started to give away. The more i scrambled the more it slide. I jumped up the hill off the rock that was heading over the cliff and grabbed onto another tree which my friend was holding too. So so close to going with the whole bank and tree over a 100 foot cliff into the river below up in Wells Gray provincial park. It happens so fast. So yeah i bet buddy was rattled abit from the rott wud tipping over. Great vid Bjarne 👌 👍

Stay safe and "expect the unexpected", you are in one of the most dangerous professions in Canada, and your videos are great. Many years ago, we were in the bush on a windy day, suddenly all hell broke loose as a 1m diameter pine just fell over, pulling up the roots which were a 7 or 8m flat disc sitting vertical. We thought the pine must have grown higher than the surrounding trees and the wind caught it and just pushed it down. Scared the ... out of everyone, but we all learned "anything can happen in the bush".

The closest I came was tied into to a 6 top maple. My groundie didn’t let the top run as I cut it.. It came down, knocked my running saw from my hand. The butt hit me in the chest, and then pinned my saw against my inner thigh. I thought it was gonna be it for me that day…. We pulled the plug after that…

Maybe you get to it later in this video, but I’d love to hear you talk about some of your close calls. Maybe with footy cut over the audio, but I’d be up for a sit and chat about all the times shit went wrong too fast to react. I’ll never forget watching you buck that one big log that sent you flying.

That's the reason I got out of logging I had too many close calls and I got hit a couple of times by trees and falling debris. Usually debris from trees that you could not see things that were loose in the crown from the ground. Stay safe and keep up the good work. Love the videos how you cut timber in the north west.

Yep. The chopper pilot was taking off INTO the wind to get some quick altitude before turning downwind towards the valley in rain and low visibility.

Super smart to shut down after a close call of a team member - you must be 100% focused for logging - interesting and happy to see that first aid is handled professionally and properly. Thanks eh, cheers

30 pieces of steel and 28 inches worth of incisions are the reminders of a tree with center-rot that broke and swiveled unpredictably and bagged me on my escape route while I was on the way out. I had stopped cutting into it because there seemed not to be enough sound holding wood for the size of the tree, and I had decided to get the skidder to push it down. What followed was a long story - but I made it by the grace of God and am back cutting. Thank you, Jesus, and please take care of all the other loggers.

I had a close call with a snag, and yeah, it scared the living day out of me because my saving grace i had was another tree that i took shelter behind otherwise I might not have been so lucky. But I'm glad to hear everyone is okay and was able to come back to work. That's the best news u can hear out there forsure.

I grew up in the camps.Dad was contracting around the coast in the 50s and 60s.He had some gruesome days seeing guys get killed. In those days of high lead and north bend skidder shows it was a regular occurrence.the logs were huge.lots of heavy fir.you can imagine the guys setting beads.the gear was huge too.

Great video… what is up with the itty bitty toe board hielo landing pad?? Also that last snag scramble in the bushes… I still think a 50 foot of 3/8 nylon rope in your kit would be handy to lower your saw and you to repel down in some of those steep areas.

Your sound is really amazing in this video. Can you share a bit about your camera mic set up? Or if you have in another video can you share the link? Thank you!

Probably a dumb question... But, how do you cut the limbs on the bottom side of the tree? Is there a trick to it? I cut some trees for personal firewood use and getting the bottom side branches is a PITA (pain in the a**) for me.
