Enjoy the video! Here is the final upgrade for the Dude's Emerald Tree Skinks. This is a 36" x 18" x 36" Exo Terra and are available for sale at the Dude's warehouse in Houston, TX. These inquisitive skinks enjoy living in groups and are very sociable and quite intelligent. Dense foliage and many tree's are planted in this setup. The soil mixture is over 4 years old and is a fixture between the Terra Fauna and Terra Firma. The oldest skink is 3 years old and the youngest is 8 months.

Every time I watch these I'm always thinking to myself 'nope he's gone too far, that's never going to work, there's just too many pieces in there/too much chaos' and then by the end of the video I'm always loving how the setup looks. You really do have a great eye for it, especially in the short time frame of these videos. The last one that I set up in the same sized exo terra must have taken me around 5 hours of trying out different bits, deciding where things would go, moving them a little, maybe I need to follow the bio dude and just go for it!

Josh, I really think this is a lovely setup and it provides lots of options for the skinks. It's so important that the lizards have places to hide and go to feel comfortable and you really nailed it! Others will look to this video for inspiration for sure.

You’re the man. One thing to improve your scapes would be to finagle moss in the cracks of where the branches/barks meet. It gives it that more natural look.

Awesome to see you’re carrying cuttlebone now as it’s absolutely essential to isopod’s health and helps prevent cannabilism, especially in the Porcellio and armadillidium species. I keep over 20 species of isopods and each and every culture gets crushed cuttlebone that I replenish regularly.

just checked your website out, it's amazingly put together and the level out detail and information is outstanding. I mean the website for exo terra is quite meh in the way it's presented, you would think exo terra being who they are in the reptile industry would have a better made website. There's a lot of people in this industry and there is a varying level of interest, care, quality and passion which you cover all bases. No vlogger personality, information dense content, good quality products and not afraid to promote yourself. Don't need me to tell you but keep at it man.

thats the size i have for my frilled dragon also i have the same type of tree.. Glad you mentioned it will die if i dont plant it.. well guess i am planting it asap.. i've kept it on a pot because i wasn't sure it was going to be deep enough soil for it.. but i will just layer it up in the back a bit to make it work well.

Its reallu nest seeing this all come together. It looks like alot individual piece wise but together in there its like a piece of their home pulled out and put into a box. Its beautoful. Thank you for this. As a future tree skink owner this is inspirational. Now can thry handle just rhe terra firma or do you need to mix it with fauna? Or is fauna best?

TriRepticus I'm sure he's done it already. Drainage layer ( pearlite, hydro balls etc.) Soil layer then moss and leaf litter top.

Hi TriRepticus. We have a crested gecko video with a drainage layer. This particular cage utilizes my Terra Firma mixed with Terra Flora, which is designed to not need a drainage layer, but for your gecko I would go with just Terra Fauna which needs a drainage layer.

Hi Guinevere. As long as your biome is healthy and thriving you do not need to add more BioShot. The leaf litter and spag should be added regularly as needed. This is "food" for your biome. Be sure to feed your soil when it looks hungry (a lot less leaf and spag on the surface).

You said that for planting trees, you have to make sure you leave enough space for the roots to grow. How do you judge if you have enough space or not?

Mainly making sure that the roots are not smooshed or crowded in the soil itself. So, for example if you plant a tree in your terrarium and you only have just enough soil to cover the root system, chances are that root system will be too complicated for the amount of soil, which will cause root binding and root system death. Mainly, room under and around with excess is the general rule of thumb.

Hi Destiny. You absolutely can. I recommend using the Terra Firma substrate to achieve your humidity needs as well as have the ability to plant trees.

Hey Marcus, which items are you talking about? If you have some free shipping items in your cart + non free shipping items you will be charged shipping on the item s that dictate the shipping.
