This comment is comparing apples to oranges,but my father had an airboat that was powered by a Lycoming four cylinder engine in the mid 70s we loved riding that thing , but that engine never failed us on the St John’s River in Florida,enjoyed watching you build that engine, Thanks for sharing 🤩👍✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸

Can you talk a little about costs, such as the machine shop, cad plating costs, hours it took or can take to overhaul? I am trying to wrap my head around how an O360 can cost 30-40K to overhaul. Thank you, great series, can’t wait to see the new shop.

It's not likely you'll ever wrap your head around it. It's completely and utterly insane. I have an experimental Mattituck 0-360 -A1A so I have some options but the cost doesn't change much. These dinosaur engines aren't worth 1/2 of what they go for but most owners are a captive audience so we all get gouged. I'm likely going to switch to a UL Power or something of that sort on repower which will HOPEFULLY be another 8-10 years away ;)

I enjoy your videos. Question. What's going on with or what happened to the two Grumman trainers you picked up and started work on - Double Trouble? Have not seen any update in a long while and some of the original videos are no longer on the channel.

Yes the Grumman trainers have gone to limbo. The owners went in a different direction and preferred to terminate any further RU-vid videos. That being said, we have something coming up at our own shop that will be quite a bit better. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching!

There is a choice of four different springs on the oil pressure relief valve, how do you figure out which one to use?

On the O360-A.. series there are three springs used. The -A4K uses the 77467 spring per PC-306-1 IPC . This is a starting point at break in. The asterisk (*) note allows using the other springs if oil pressure needs to be adjusted using minimum washers. If there is any question definitely give Lycoming Product Support a call.
