That noise would drive me crazy. I have the L4060 and it’s so quiet. Like you said I’m sure you get used to it. Kubota is the way to go. Great tractors.
I went from, a b2650 cab to a L4060, this was apart of the reason besides not enough weight and lack of HORSE POWER. The hydro whine was very loud in the B series with cabs.
I run a Kubota B2650 cab tractor and she exhibits the same whine. My solution is sponge earplugs. You can still hear the radio just fine and it kills about 90% of the whining noise. Like you, I chose the 26 hp engine over the 33 horse. My main motivation was to avoid the diesel regeneration system. They are expensive, and really concerned me from a future maintenance standpoint. For my property, smaller engine still works just fine, plus on longer jobs I’m using a lot less diesel I’m sure.
Some insulation on the floor inside the cab should reduce some on the noise transfer into the cab. Look for material similar to that against your vehicle firewall under the floor covering.
Great informative review! One more good reason to stay with the 25HP engine is I believe 26HP is the cut off HP before needing Tier 4 emissions equipment
I have a B2650 cab tractor which is very similar to the LX 2610. When I first got it the transmission whine almost drove me crazy. It seems to have gotten better with time,I really don’t notice it as much. It’s still there but much better. I have found mine to have too much heat in the cab,to the point that I have actually used the AC while plowing snow. As for the windows fogging up I always turn on the AC regardless of where the temperature is set. It removes condensation. Have a good one.
Great review...going from a B2601 to a B2650....I have the EXACT same “gripes” between the two models. The first thing I noticed with your first LX video was the louder HST whine. I felt the same way when I unloaded my B2650 off the trailer when bringing it home. I am also miffed with the jerky forward/rear engagement of the HST on mine compared to the 2601. I only have 20ish hours on the 2650 and sold the 2601 with a little over 100 hrs. I am hoping things free up in the next 50 hrs or so. I thought that maybe they used regular UDT instead of super UDT? I’d be interested to see if/when you change your hyd. Fluid, if the whine/engagement issues get better. That is an expensive experiment, though...Super UDT isn’t cheap and it needs a lot of it! Thanks again for the videos, they are always enjoyable! Cheers from PA!
Agreed 100%. My b2650 has about 120 hours now. Still whines. Still jumpy. I just wear my head phones. But it sure is nice being warm when plowing the drive👍
I’m taking delivery of my tractor next Friday. Your vids helped me decide! One thing I learned from running heavy equipment for a while was hearing protection is so important. If that much sound is getting into the cab I’ll be having mine in for sure. It’s not what you hear that can affect your hearing, it the sounds you don’t hear.
Morning and congratulations Michael! you must be excited. Yes, I always wear it. I was using regular muffs for a while but now I primarily use in-ear protection - ISOTunes 2.0. Much more comfortable, especially in the summer and hey, I can listen to the news , music etc too. Enjoy your new tractor tomorrow!
I had similar issues with my tractor, not a Kubota but cabbed hydrostat. After your tractor is warmed up, check your system hydraulic pressure, and check the oil for aeration. My system pressure was on the low end of tolerance range. And my oil(Shell Rotella HD UTF), while meeting manufaturer specs was aerating badly. The dealer increased system pressure to the high end of tolerance and switched the Rotella I had put in for Mobil 424. Huge reduction in whine, and much better control responses. Thanks for your vids!!!
Thank you again for a great video sharing your review of your tractor. I own a B2650 Cab model, much the same as your LX2601. I commented a while back and asked about the whine in the cab, you didn't comment about that, and I figured you would have an opinion later. You did. My dealer says the whine is "normal", I do not agree with that. I have lined the bottom of my cab (removed and reinstalled the seat for the job) with "dynamat" sound deadener / absorbent material, and put black vinyl over the dynamat. It made NO difference. If you may be considering trying that, I suggest you don't waste your and effort. I have researched the "whine" and have heard of it getting less over time, changing the transmission oil has been said to help. I just changed my transmission oil and filters, at 236 hours to see if the whine will diminish. I don't have an opinion on that yet as I haven't driven the tractor since I changed the oil and filters. I plan to install a decibel meter app on my phone so I can measure the noise to see if I am improving the situation or not. What I did do, was install a radio and a jack for headphones. That really helps. I use 3M WorkTune headphones. I believe they also work on Bluetooth. I recently watched a video on putting spray insulation foam inside of the ROPS tube to deaden the whine noise. When I worked, I'm retired now, I was in the heavy truck heavy equipment maintenance industry. I do think there is credence to the thought of the spray foam inside the ROPS tube, or any hollow cab tube. I know from my work experience that most of the time, this type of noise often if not always magnifies through cab mounts and especially through hollow tubing. I apologize for the essay here, but again thank you for your review, and I will be working on the cab noise as I am sure you and a bunch of your subscribers will also. God bless, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Just got my LX2610 cab model a few months ago. Transmission is jumpy at idle but is smooth with more rpm. The whine is always there but is much louder in reverse. Love the cab as I can bush hog on 90+ degree days in comfort. The A/C works great and it hasn’t been cold enough to need heat yet. Thanks for a good review.
I have the exact same tractor and agree 100% with your review. I do have a different radio that works perfectly with no whine or static. I had a Deere 1025r and never had an issue, this Kubota is essentially the same horsepower as that tractor but side-by-side comparison you would think the Kubota is a much larger tractor with larger frame, tires etc..., the cab is well appointed and very airtight. The LX 2610 is a rock solid compact tractor that does all I need and then some and should hold its value. I’m very blessed to have it.
Nice looking machine. Too bad about that annoying hydraulic "whine," I can hear what you mean. Thank you for your honesty when discussing the tractor. I wish more people would be forthright with such details instead of just "chest thumping" that they have a new piece of equipment. Keep up the fun videos showing projects in progress.
Great video.. I have an lx3310, I have two main complaints whining and the transmission jerk as well. I called my dealer as well.... I also had a rattle in my cab that took me days to figure out, it was the control lever for my rear hydraulic ports. Easy fix with folded over cardboard and duct tape. PHIL
Hi Gord! Thanks for the great 4-month review of your LX2610! I agree that the HST whine and lurching transmission would bother me too, but between that finely-appoint cab and it’s greater capabilities it looks like you made a great choice. Thanks for sharing and stay warm!
Hi GP Outdoors... I was planning to go see my JD dealer today to get the quoting process started, but after viewing your initial review (and this one on the LX2610) last night decided to add a visit to my local Kubota dealer as well. I must say I was IMPRESSED! You have a beautiful tractor... they had one just like it on the lot and I agree with everything you've stated in your initial review. I was telling the Sales guy about your excellent 4-month review as well and forwarded him the link to this video pointing out the time-stamp where you talk more in depth about the 3 issues. I asked him for that dealership's insight as well once they review this. I'll let you know if they bestow any new wisdom on the problems. For sure a beautiful rig... probably my leading candidate right now (without seeing the official quote). Best regards.
Thanks very much Rick and congratulations on a soon to be tractor. I'd be interested in knowing if the JD's have a similar hydraulic whine. Some folks have said they do - all hydros do to some level I am learning. My transmission is certainly smoother now but I might offer that you should be able to ask to drive the models around on the lot for 15-20 minutes to test drive and hear and feel them. All the tractor companies are suffering from long backlogs and delays now so I understand that getting anything ordered in that is not on the lot is a long wait. ( I waited an extra 3 months to get mine). Good luck and let me know how it turns out Rick!
Great video. After years of old junk tractors with no power steering or brakes we bought a new 25 hp L Kubota. What a dream machine. Went with manual trans. I don't like having to keep my foot on a pedel too long. Plus I push snow and some times need right or left brake. Again, great vidoe. Thanks
Hi GP, I have 2 John Deere hydro transmission tractors. The first is a 1997 model 955 front wheel assist which is has for lack of better terminology a "mechanical linkage" transmission arrangement and a 2006 cab front wheel assist 3720 e-hydro which is an electronic transmission. The 955 transmission is nice and solid feeling with no surging or jerking of any kind - nice controlled feel through the pedals. The 3720 transmission can be slightly jerky at times, but when using the cruise control feature, its again rock solid and smooth. I've always thought the smoothness was a function of how the computer electronics receives input from the operators response in using the pedals. On a side note, both transmissions are very quiet. Each machine has roughly 600 hours use with fluid changes as prescribed by John Deere. Also, as mentioned previously, using your air conditioner will help minimize glass fogging. Thanks for another Good video
Very nice job on the review! Kubota does make a good product. I would try and reach out to Neil at Messicks Farm Equipment here in Pennsylvania about the transmission issues. I know you have spoken with your dealer about it, but in the past Messicks has come up with solutions (adjustments) to issues of various things on their own without help from the factory :)
My MX5200 hydrostatic has a wine too, you get use to it for the cinvience. Noise protection in the form of 3M Bluetooth while your music is playing makes the wine and the day go away. Thanks for the LX review.
Change your trans/hyd fluid. I know the manual says only filters on the 50 hour service, but I had read and watched people suggest changing the fluid at the initial service. I did and it did make a difference with the whine. I will also wear headphone/hearing protection. This gets me tunes, if I want, and cuts out the remainder of the noise. You did it on your open station, do it on this one, too.
Yes to hearing protection! I have the B2650 cab, and still wear my ear plugs plus a noise cancelling headset and listen to music while in the tractor. After 46 year of flying airplanes, from Jetstream 3100s, Pitts S2A, Cessna's etc, I still have my hearing.
Hi Gord, My LX2610 was delivered yesterday! I have only driven it around the yard, but I do love the cab. Mine also has the whine and the transmission "Jump" like you mentioned. I had an open station L301 and that also had the whine, so I ended up getting a blue tooth headset and that took care of that issue. I'm hoping that, over time, the transmission "Jump" will go away.....We shall see. With the smaller yard we now have, I think this LX2610 will be perfect for my needs. It will be primarily used for mowing, driveway maintenance and snow plowing. I'm waiting on the delivery of my brush hog, rear work lights, third function valve kit and blue tooth radio!
Great video as usual. I have a B3200 open station and I know you feel about the whine of the HST. When spring arrives take your doors and back window off and give an inside/outside video comparison.😎🇺🇸
Thanks for this honest review. Refreshing to hear your reasoning behind your decision to stay with 26HP.... it is a change from the old ''get as much HP as you can afford'' that we read all the time
I don’t know how I missed this video! Great video I love how you covered just about everything and covered all of the major differences that YOU found as a tractor owner.. this is beer important knowledge for us non B or LX owners to have who are looking at buying one because the dealer certainly isn’t gonna point this stuff out. Iv really been looking at the B2401 a lot lately.. as you know I always wanted to trade my BX in for a B2601 or 2301 but when I recently discovered they kade a gear driven 2401 that really got my blood flowing because I love nothing more than to be in perfect tune with the machine I’m using and tho a gear driven machine certainly isn’t for everyone.. a gear driven tractor has always made me feel one with the tractor and Iv always felt I could work the tractor harder and to much more potential. Some day I’m gonna go to a dealer to test drive one to see if it’s what I really want but if it goes well who knows I may end up with one some day to replace my BX. Hope your doing good buddy!
Good stuff! Took delivery of my LX2610 ROPS yesterday...only 1.7 hours so far. Will let you know how things compare down here as I get busy along the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia, USA! Cheers!!!
Greetings from Wisconsin! I still remember thinking this was the perfect tractor for you. I think I'd still go with my L2501 because I've only have 7ft garage doors, and I'll never give up my heated shop or my other 3 car garage for my implements. I've got the same whine from my hydraulics, but I'll say my L2501 is super smooth in operation. The "lack of feel" on implements is so spot on, I see the work it is doing, but am amazed how I don't feel it. I run huge implements and just added 3" wheel spacers, I'm currently making homemade tire chains, which I love how they're turning out. I think the biggest downfall of these compact utility tractors are their narrow rear ends. I couldn't imagine the top heavy feel with a cab. Well I've rambled again. Take care
Morning IHB. Thanks for the info - I didn't;t realize the L series also had a whine to it. Guy's old L3400 doesn't;t whine much at all to be honest. Good to know. Be safe and all the best out there!
Just subscribed. I was fully committed to buying a L2501 until I saw some of the features on the LX2601. Looking forward to seeing more videos about the LX.
Great review. I have a 20year old John Deere 4300 and the HST whines as well. It’s seems to be the nature of the beast. You are very well spoken. Enjoy your channel tremendously.
Spot on Gord! I even said jumpy before you did and I had to laugh. Whine is a little too much. Two months with 19 hrs on my lx2610 and I love the machine!
💥 You’ve got a beautiful tractor and piece of property. Those who are having issues with cabs fogging up are probably going from a heated garage to a cold temp. *Keep on tractoring!* 👍
yeah Im looking at perchuseing a $6700 or $8,600 kubota GL7000 7000 watts or GL11000 11,000 watts generator wich takes the same filters wich pretty powerful generator with 10.5hp and 20.6hp units cheaper then the 10,000 watt cat generator wich was rediculas over priced out my budget wich they wanted $36,900
@@deanstrickland6993 Well there goes my theory. 😳 I know there’s a way to recirculate cab air or bring in outside air. Wonder if that would make a difference. My L3940 has that option anyway.
@@ritterjon Hi Jon! When is your next video? Hint, hint😁 I have a switch on the rear ceiling of my cab which does as you suggest. However, that doesn’t work either. I suspect for my situation that where I am surrounded by the vast Atlantic Ocean, with high humidity, even in winter, coupled to oscillations in temperature around freezing, the conditions are just right for excessive condensation on the great mass of glass. My solution is to start my tractor and come back in for a cup of coffee and then go to a warm and cleared cab. Wish there was a remote starter option for diesels, LOL!!!! Stay safe buddy!
@@deanstrickland6993 Well Dean, finding time to make videos right now is the issue. I would imagine the humidity is a big factor. We always have cold dry air here in the winter so I guess I don’t deal with fogging much. The warm cup of coffee method sounds like a good plan. I have seen someone on a Facebook group add a remote starter so it can be done.
I had to laugh when you mentioned the noise becoming less noticeable. Because I've lost a lot of my hearing; I always wear hearing protection when I'm using my tractors. I keep a set of hearing protectors in the cab, and I have a bluetooth headset when I want to listen to music or I need to hear incoming calls. Even my hearing aids have bluetooth. Happy Holidays!
Good review. I have a 2018 2601 enclosed cab and it has the same loud whine. Loud enough that I now wear ear protection if I'm operating it under heavy load. Overall I really like it and haven't needed more power.
Great review Gord, looks like you’re doing better all the time getting use to the differences between the new tractor and the one you had just gotten use to. Like children, they can be so different !! You’re doing a great job with the new tractor and by the spring thaw you’ll be operating in like you did your smaller Kubota but you’ll be a lot warmer 😉🤗 . I can’t believe the beautiful weather you’re having. Our son and family in northern Michigan, about 25 miles from the Upper Peninsula, is enjoying the weather but knows they will pay for it later too.🤣. Be safe and hope anyone whose traveling this month will be safe. Fred.👍👍👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If you windows are fogging up,push the A/C switch. If that doesn't make sense take a look at your car or truck. When you put the heat on the defrost setting your A/C compressor will be cycling just like it does when you have the temperature control on cold.
Just FYI, the noise from the transmission exceeds 85 dB most of the time. This is the OSHA threshold where hearing protection is needed. You need to wear ear protection....I like the quick response of the transmission vs the sluggy older transmissions..
How's she goin'? Great review GP. Very open and honest I'd say. I have to say, I was hearing the whine from your tractor in your videos and was wondering about that. It maybe a 'break in' issue. It's good that you spoke to the dealer about it though as now he's aware. When I was young I had a car that had a bad noise coming from the rear end. I used to turn up the volume on the radio!!! LOL Maybe you could do that since you have the radio in the cab!!! Just sayin'... LOL Seriously though, that's a nice machine you have and like you say, very well matched to your needs. Thanks for the review and take care!!
my b2620 whined like that so i checked my hydraulic flued it was a little low so i added some and now the whine is much better its there but not as loud
Greetings from eastern Ontario. Another great video. My only regret on my L4060 is that it doesn't have a cab. Thought about it but a cab model wouldn't fit in the garage. I think over time you will not notice the hydro whine kinda like living near a train level-crossing. After awhile .....what train. Another point in favour of the LX2610 is no DPF regen. Although after three years and 450 hrs its an automatic process with no issues. Cheers.
Nice honest review GPC! Seems like that transmission whine is pretty common in the B 2650 as well. Just my opinion, but I think the aluminum transaxle contributes to the resonance of the sound initially, and the cab does definitely amplify it. My open station L2501 does it a little, but nothing like that. I only hear it under heavy load at the start typically, which is no different than most other hydrostatic equipment I’ve used. I’d be tempted to try noise canceling headphones when appropriate. You’d still be able to hear anything major that happened but that whine would be almost gone. Not for working in the woods, especially with others, but for blowing snow it would sure cut the monotony out of it. It’s a beautiful tractor and seems to be just right for your needs, as you said. I bought the 25 hp instead of the bigger ones for the same reasons as you as well as avoiding emissions. I have plenty of power for my needs and I can see you do as well. The extra weight between models makes a huge difference in real world capability.
My JD 2038R made terrible whining for the first 50 hours or so. I changed the filters and fluid, just as the JD PM schedule suggested and found a small plastic wrapper in the filter (was hoping this was my issue, but nope). Eventually I think I became accustomed to the noise. The sound certainly is unsettling, and you would think engineers would have worked this problem out by now. Thanks for the great videos!
If you click the AC button even on heat it will help dry the air and help with the steaming up inside. It sounded crazy when a friend told me to do it, but it worked. Maybe try it and see
Hello, when this guy went to get my first Kioti the feller there tried to convince me that hydrostatic was the bees knees, and couldn’t believe that a really had a strong dislike towards such craziness, shuttle shift was what I ordered and haven’t looked back, also happy for you that cab is the bees knees, my opinion.
It's certainly an impressive machine! Thanks for sharing your thoughts after owning and using it a while. Seems like longer than 4 months that you've had it.
Your dislikes are big things. I was thinking of buying an LX3310, but I will breakout my JD2720 from winter storage to see how it whines and how smoothly it’s HST operates before giving the Kubota any more consideration. Thank you for your well done, informative and enjoyable videos.
One way to get rid of that transmission noise is to crank that radio up a notch or two. 😂😂 On a serious note that noise is common on many of the sub compact tractors. The Kubota's enclosed cab is so smooth (basically a glass box), coupled with no way for the sound to be absorbed it's bound to hear all that noise. I have taken larger cab tractors for a ride and they're much quieter. I use "Fluid Film" on the pedal pivot points, the ones that are not greaseable. That helps with smoother pedal operations. As always, l love your videos, love the comments from others.
To further the fogging comment a few days ago, always make sure the cab air intake is set on fresh not recirculation. Pretty much all automotive heating systems since the 80's, and maybe before, cycle the A/C compressor when in defrost to dry the air(also keeps compressor from sitting idle for the winter and seizing) and also on newer vehicles cancels the recirculation function to prevent operator from selecting it.
Thanks for doing a good review! I agree with several of the other comments, that hydraulic noise would make me pull my hair out! Ready to pull the trigger on an L 2501. The machine seems unstoppable, and I've actually test driven it. Much quieter than the LX2610.
After changing hydraulic fluid on my B2410 last year to the latest Supper UDT II.I experienced the surging you described.Took many hours for it to settle down.
Hi GP Outdoors... Hobbit Habits here (aka: Rick Chapek). I changed my handle for reasons that will be more clear once I start posting videos on my own channel. I digress... I spoke with my dealer about the issues you referenced (LX2610). No startling revelations, but here's a summary: Transmission whine is something they've heard lately from a couple of cab owners. Service claims it will be more amplified when cold and T-fluid is thicker. They said the tractor ships with regular UDT transmission fluid from the factory. If Super UDT (thinner) is used on the first service it should quiet it down a bit. The "jumpiness" complaint was new to them. Since the pedal is mechanical to the transmission, they said spring mods may be possible (as other comments here suggested) but they've never had to do this. (It's still -10 degrees F here but I plan to drive the LX2610 myself next week when this weather breaks.) Travel speed issues isn't something they've come across either. One Service guy said he's heard of manufacturers limiting top speed on tractors with cabs for stability (higher center of gravity)... but never heard of Kubota doing that. Not a lot of help but that's what I heard on these issues. Have a great day!
Morning Rick and thanks very much - it is very helpful. I have heard that info , as you noted, but it is always good to hear form someone else again to confirm. Good luck with the test drive and all the best!
I'm commenting on this out of pure ignorance, but here goes: There are off-road UTV's that have speed limiters that engage when your seat belt is not fastened. That's how my Polaris Ranger operates. It will max out at about 10 mph and then will not go faster unless I fasten my seatbelt. With the belt fast and it goes plenty fast. Are any tractor manufacturers doing the same thing?
I hope Im working as hard as you are!! I have 22+ acres that turned into woods again and clearing it is challenging.. Ran into mud bees the other day!!!!
GP, really enjoyed your review! I have a B2650 and the whine is the same. It is really loud in my cab as it seems to be in yours. So much so, that I always wear ear protection, which I recommend. Looking forward to more reviews!!!! Stay safe!
There should be some adjustment in the responsiveness of the transmission. However none of my tractors have ever had hydrostatic transmissions so I can't say for sure...
Jeez Gordy! I upgraded to the b2601 this year from a bx24 because of you. You said I’d get more capability, and your right, but...... I don’t really like the joystick response of the loader compared to the bx but maybe it will get better with time. I also find it harder to see the leading edge of the bucket. My other 👎 is the light backend, have a hard time lifting much. I should’ve had the back wheels filled with fluid, still might. I did order a heavy hitch with 8 80# suitcase weights and that seems to help. I did appreciate the video you did a while back on the subject. I sure look forward to seeing your next video, keep it going Buddy! Cheers
Morning Tom! Yes for sure load the tires - I was great with 500 lbs on the back and loaded tires but she is a light, narrow tractor, no doubt. Guy told me that the joystick will get smoother with time as you work it.
When I started following your page a couple months ago, that was the first thing I noticed was that loud “whine” of the tractor. I dont know if it’s normal or not. I know some dealers with tractors or even vehicles, will keep telling the customer it’s normal in hopes the warranty runs out before it’s a problem. Also at garages, warranty work will sometimes be put off to the lowest mechanic because warranty work repairs doesn’t pay as much as it’s a set price with the hours needed to repair it is in a “factory manual”. If the mechanic runs into any unseen problems that take longer, the company does not pay for that. The company only pays what their manual repair says it should take in hours. That’s why mechanics don’t want to do warranty work and hand it down to lowest. It’s a shady deal all around. I do like kubotas though, that orange is very sharp.
Kubota made the Grand L 40 series from 2017 to 2013. I have a 2008 L3540 HST ROPS that have the HST Plus transmission. This thing is quiet. The engine easily bury the hydro noise. It puzzles me that they can’t make a hydrostatic system that is quitter these days since they did it in much older models. About the transmission. I know that the Grand L series is much more expensive than the LX (would you believe that in 2008 I paid mine, with the front end loader, 24K$ (CAN) including taxes!) but the HST Plus transmission is a dream to operate. You can adjust the sensitivity to respond faster or slower on the pedal. It has Stall Guard that prevent engine to stall under overwhelming load. Auto throttle that controls the engine RPM with the hydro pedal. Hi and Low on the hydro that you can control manually or automatically by the transmission. I’m very happy with this tractor and I can’t really find any major flaw to it if it’s that the orange paint tends to become pink over time ;) If you can find one used at a good price, I definitely recommend it.
Seriously considering the LX2610, I have a BX2680, been watching a lot of videos on the LX2610 I really enjoy your videos, to the point no bs, Thank you very informative
I have the b2650 and it has the same win you do get used to it to a point. If I am going to do a lot of work I use my isoTunes The cab does fog up until it warms up possibly from snow coming in from my boots. My heater will drive me out once it’s warmed up. Keep the videos coming Ps don’t break the rear window it’s $1400 lol I found out the hard way
I must say, I do like how my B2401 has no hst whine being a manual. All you get is gear noise at higher speeds in high range, which is not nearly as loud as what that sounds in the video.
I have a 2020 Mahindra Emax 25 HST w/cab. The whine is almost exactly the same. I realize they're different tractors, if I was just listening to this video and did not know what tractor was on it, I would have swore the noise was coming from an Emax25. I do not have that same jumping to the transmission though , I found it to be very smooth. Just some thoughts, great video ,have a good day.. PS. I also have a front-mounted snowblower this will be my first year of using it, hope it goes well.
LOL! Thanks Matt. From reading the comments, I am realizing this is common for hydrostatic tractors. You'll love the blower I am sure, and you'll do great with it! Keep it in 4WD, low range, full engine RPMs (full PTO RPM unless your manual says otherwise) and if you hear the engine RPM dropping while you are blowing, it means you are pushing too fast into the snow (loading the blower too much) so just ease off a bit on your speed and slow down. :)) And bring a coffee with you. Cheers!
Hi GP, I can see and hear the whine you are talking about. That would be disturbing to me also. I have an L2501 open station Kubota and it sounds much like your B2601 and it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe you will get used to it over time, but it definitely is annoying. Thanks for your great and honest videos.
@@GPOutdoors Love it so far , I’m waiting for my grapple and my backhoe, I traded my 4200 John Deere with a backhoe and had it for over 20 something years
Good morning I’ve got the LX3310 CAB. Like you love it but the WINE !!! Dealer said cab makes it worse. I guess ear protection is the only way to solve the problem. Thanks for the videos great job. Glad I’m not alone in this endeavor.
My J.D 3025e also a 25 h.p. and the biggest reason i went with this was no emissions or DPF which I think most issues have been resolved. Had i went with more h.p. it would've had the DPF and would've needed the required def fluid. I believe your hydraulic squaw is getting lessened by time. Still, its new and you'll have it a long time to come. It'll get better with age. Its a very nice tractor GP and the cab was a great choice.
Good evening GP. Great honest review on your tractor. If you remember I have the B2650 . I love the cab .. The winter is the best. Warm and toasty. I always go and start it and let it run and warm up.. Yes fogging up is a little bit of a nuisance but can live with it. Hahahah I don't have the issue with it lurching. Pretty smooth. But as everyone and you has said about how it has the whining noise.. Yup.. Has done it from the very beginning. Don't remember how many hours on it . Still the same. Over all I like the tractor.. But I also have the Green thing as well.. hahaha Like it just as much. Like I have said I have the best of both worlds. Have a great weekend. Stay safe and always be kind. Oh and stay warm. Hahah Cheers.
Hey Gord your videos are very informative. I am in the process of looking for a compact tractor for my 40 acre wood lot near Calabogie, ON. I started looking at the sub compacts (BX25) but your videos convince me to look at the B2601 or the LX2610. You save me a lot of leg work researching the implements as well. Your videos are much appreciated.
Good evening SM! I am happy if they help a little. You have lots of research ahead of you but wish you all the best! A lot of great options from several brands to choose from these days. Good luck!
The hydro whine is one of the reasons I went with the shuttle shift on the big tractor. I would love to have that A/C & heat in a cab! lol There is no perfect tractor but there is thing that you just can't deal with on one. Have a good weekend my friend! See ya in the next one!
Thanks LA! Hey, how do you like that Shuttle Shift? Can you perhaps do a video on how it works differently than on your other tractor. Does that mean it is not a hydrostatic transmission? Thanks pal!
@@GPOutdoors I will work on that. A shuttle shift is a geared transmission but instead of shifting gears every time you go back and forth you have one lever that puts the transmission into forward or reverse. You stay in the same rang and gear. So my tractor has 4 gears and 3 ranges for a total of 12 gears in forward or reverse. Now you have to clutch it to go from forward to reverse and vice versa or to change gears/ range. There is some tractors that have what is called a power shuttle shift. You can go from forward to reverse with out clutching it, but that's usually on bigger tractors.
Thanks LA! It would be helpful perhaps for me and other new tractor folks to get a video on it - when you eventually have the time - no rush my friend. Thanks - be safe and be well!
In regard to the LX3310, I’d like to add a little detail. The LX2610 has a 1,261cc 3-cylinder normally aspirated engine that makes 24.8 hp and 52.1 ft.lbs. of torque. The LX3310 has a 1,498cc 4-cylinder turbo charged diesel engine that makes 30.8 hp (yes, 6 more hp) and 77.7 ft. lbs. of torque. The extra cylinder, the turbo and those extra 15.6 ft. lbs. of torque make the LX3310 more eager when running torque hungry PTO implements. You’re running a very torque hungry PTO implement; a 64” Snow Blower…! I would also like to point that the LX3310 has an “emmissions engine” which has a Diesel Particulate Filter and EGR system. There are pros and cons there. More cost and complexity are on the cons list. On the pros list is the fact that the LX3310 engine is super quiet and resonates far less inside the cab than the 3-cylinder does. Both great tractors. The 2610 does bring simplicity and a lower price, but I might have suggested the 3310 for deep snow removal.
Wow - thanks so much. I had another comment yesterday from someone who said their dealer did the same thing but it didn't change anything but for sure let me know. Thanks - I appreciate it very much.
When I went from an open station to a cab, I also noticed the whine a lot more. But I also heard less of the engine, and the cab has a radio I can crank up to not hear the whine at all
Great review! I’m looking at purchasing my first tractor this coming Spring. I’ve driven them for years just never had one of my own. One of my biggest challenges is finding a shuttle shift in a compact tractor. I don’t like the wine from a hydrostatic transmission. Merry Christmas to you and your family Sir!
I really appreciate this video, I have the B2601, about 225hours on it or so. I have really loved it, but have been curious about the LX upgrade.. Mostly for capacities. I actually do not want a cab. So after watching your review I am going to stick with my B2601! Take care, and cheers!
A good 15 min test drive is recommended to ferret out odd noises you may encounter on a certain tractor model. Maybe the transmission is/bad from the beginning? Once you take delivery it's yours
I would definately attribute the acoustics of the whiney pump to enclosed cab..I think it only stands to reason if station was open the sound would be much more dispersed instead of being captured between 4 walls. And lets face it,where are the pumps located?Under the cab, your basically sitting on them.I think thats the trade off on the enclosed cab, captured sound.I wear hearing protection in everything,i would do it there also.Kubota builds well refined equipment.
Thanks MD. Makes sense. I also noticed after I edited the video, the significant difference in the audio when I took the camera into the cab, close to the beginning - very tinny. I just ordered a pair of noise cancelling earphones. We'll see how they do in time. Have a great weekend!
