Oh Douglas ... I get your insecurities. Who wouldn't be insecure with a man like Brendan around? But the truth is that Ste is the one wanting Brendan around.
My theory is that Brendan has taken up knitting and secretly sends them jumpers and cardigans with hairs from his moustache woven in so he can always be watching.
I love the fact that Brendan still has his lightspeed wit, incredible smarts and is always on his toes - he reminded whiney Dougie boy if he had told Ste EVERYTHING! This got Ste now thinking, again, that Dougie boy isn't telling him something, that he's hiding something, which is why he is definitely going to lose Ste for good - too, too many f_ _ _ing lies! Besides it's obvious that Brendan takes Ste's breath away, like mine! It's a man Ste wants, not a boy!
So Doug finally has what he's always wanted, sorta, but now he feels deceitful. He's probably hoping that Ste's memory never comes back. Leah and Lucas are too precious.
I'm rewatching this clip with this all consuming thought that maybe i missed something.... Then i look back at the time and damn, 1 minute of Brendan on screen just isnt enough!
I don't know why but that last scene gave me a mental image: "Brendan with li'l Lucas on his shoulders and Leah by his side, hand in hand coming in the door as Steven's on the couch waiting." I can totally see that happening :D
omg this has been like the longest love story ever. Stendan fans have been waiting 2 yrs for stendan to eventually be happy and together for real !!!! nd we r still waiting........
He did stay away though, hence the "You don't have to watch me from a distance, I can still hold a conversation". I think Brendan meant he'll stay away as in stop trying to get Ste back, not stay away completely because that would be almost impossible given they live in the same place
I'm really tired of people saying they hate this character or that character and other people giving them a thumbs up. I don't need more hate in my life, even hate directed at fictional characters.

I'm sympathetic to Doug's situation. I don't approve of his lying to Ste. Doug says Brendan is obsessed with the past, when it's really Doug who's obsessed with Brendan.
I am not saying that Steven doesn't love Doug! In his own way he does, but it's completely different than the way he loves Brendan! And it is so obvious except to the two of the, how much they love each other! But Douglas sees it, and he knows it! And that's why he is trying so hard to get rid of Brendan!
I didn't even think of that, your right. Doug & Ste are getting no where with all the things not being said in their relationship. In fact it's imploding the relationship with all the things they aren't saying to each other. They need to start communicating & being honest with each other. Even if it hurts and it isn't what the other wants to hear.
He could have said "dram" for drama, for all I know. Check out the interactive transcript, based I suppose on speech recognition. It's a great idea. if ste remembered maybe he would make his choice (finally!) but doug is keeping lying to him. if doug knows that ste has feelings for brendan, why he stays with him? why he doesn't let go? ste and doug did both a mistake with the marriage but now it's doug who is dragging their relationship out. I don't feel sorry for doug, he proposed to ste out of insecurity and jealousy and ste felt forced to accept that's why I think they were both wrong

Doug's nose is growing...regardless of my dislike for Doug that last scene was cute. Ste's worn that shirt before, I remember because I had a shirt that looked identical to it in the 80's, same cut and print. My mom made it for me from her 70's fabrics. Call me crazy but I like it. Wish I still had it :(
He needs not one but two canes to hobble through the door and then, within the day, Ste is chasing balls unsupported? Either there is some serious magic in the Hollyoaks air or the person in charge of continuity fell asleep.
The audience is as clueless as Ste is at the moment. But no doubt we (and Ste) are going to find out soon...things like this always come out in the end in soap land. I reckon (and this is just my guess) that Ste will find the phone , listen to the recording, and all his memories will come back)
Ste before the accident had an edge to him that was sexy. Now, temporarily the edge is gone, but it makes him so adorable. I just want him to have whatever is best for him, and neither Ste nor I have figured out yet what that is. I wish U.S. soaps were this good.
At first I thought how did Brendan have a crystal ball to know what happen between Stug at the wedding. And then I realized, Brendan was probably talking about the crash, who died, and why it happen. That and he was probably a bit surprised that Doug wasn't pouring over ever happy detail with Ste. Perhaps on an unconscious level that Doug's guilty conscious is getting to him and he thinks Brendan's talking about the recording. Also Doug probably doesn't want to jog Ste's memory to what happen.

You are exactly right! Which mean that the writers planned this the whole time! BUT we know that Doug is too self-righteous to just let Ste go once he realizes he loves Brendan.....I'm guessing we can expect retaliation from him before everything is said and done.
Not a Brit. Actually Southern US. Some of our southern accents aren't so different from Emmett's. But I grew up watching British comedies (my dad was a Benny Hill and Monty Python fanatic). It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge Anglophile. What can ya do?
I don't know about Doug retaliating, the only thing I can think of is if Ste didn't delete the recording. And Doug turned that over to the police as payback. But I just can't see him doing anything too crazy. I feel for Doug, he loves Ste so much & he wants them to be together so badly. But he keeps making a mess of things, though Ste's bond with Brendan doesn't help either. All three boys are playing a part in the problems of Stug's relationship.
I have to say tho, brendan haven't been bothering them, its actually the other way around with Doug lol. Brendan was there however b/c he was just seeing if he's okay from a distance. they relationship 'seem' strong but sadly it is built on a lot of lies. I also depend on these uploads and wish the same :)
There is no chemistry between Doug and Ste. Brendan takes his breathe away.Two actors that can do that is a wonder to watch.The reason everyone hates Doug is the betrayal and the lies.I know where this going and needs that fire to catch.
I understand how Doug feels he wants to protects the life he's build but the way he's going about it is so wrong he should not be lying to Ste he should try and let Ste make his own choices without his lies and manipulation. If Ste really love him giving him space honesty and trust wont hurt them and Brendan would not be such a large factor
But Ste does not do it on purpose. He is trying to move on from Brendan with every fiber of his being. He seems to honestly think that if anyone can rip Brendan out of his heart Doug can. But his heart is not listening to his head.

Oh god, i hate to take the peace & comfort that Doug seems 2 give to Ste and his children, albeit the lies and deception it was base from. But then, it all feels like its just play pretend, until Ste remembers and realizes why he has left Doug abruptly at their own wedding.
Thats's absurd. There was a ton of chemistry between Ste and Doug when both boys were on the same page ...building their shop.. etc. But Doug's lies and secrets have poisoned their relationship and now they are a mess.
no, brendan shouldn't say a word. he promised god he would leave ste alone, but he didn't promise that he would knock back any friend overtures from ste….. if doug really loves ste, he should come clean and let ste make his own decision. remember ste left doug (okay, for about 10 minutes) till he was hit by the car at the wedding.
I agree, Ste's love for Brendan is more primal (eros or lust), while his love for Doug is more wholesome (agape or charitus). Ste needs to decide which he really wants and he should have decided before marrying Doug. Personally I think Ste should get over Brendan. We always lust after the badboys but we want to marry the good guy. Doug is and was willing to take care of Ste's kids if Ste died. That's a good man a heart, despite his jealousy and insecurities.
there is a differnce though. doug's lies are about ste, brendan's are about himself and for now have nothing to do with ste. ste already knows who brendan is anyway and it all depends on what basis they start their new eventual relationship. if ste says I want to know every possibile mistake you made untuil now then brendan should be honest but if they agree to have a fresh new start buring the past then he hasn't and he would still be honest with ste
I feel sorry for Doug, why is everbody so hateful? Doug just loves ste... that's all. And PR Brennan is a beautiful and talented actor. So give him some credit. I hope, since we all know that Ste and Brendan will be together in the end, that John Paul will be with Doug

LOL, well there's that. The difference is Ste is married to Doug and Doug is lying to his husband. Brendan and Ste are NOT together, so neither of them have to answer to eachother. Also, those things have nothing to do with Ste. Brendan hasn't lied to Ste about that cause Ste was not a part of it. Ste also knows Brendan is a killer. Now if STENDAN get back together, they might need have a conversation :).
I love Ste and Doug together, the last 10 sec were just so sweet and cute.. But i also like Brendan and Ste (I used to hate Brendan, but no he has changed I like him and also his looks) cause Brendan is a honest guy who loves Ste till death. The writers did get what the wanted, Confussing watchers.

and I realize the same and also agree. hate is a strong word and I don't like that word, it's always misused I think. also I do agree, although I think the character has always displays these characteristics but given in a desperate situation it will look as distasteful but again I agree.
Im very happy that ste came home from the hospital.But i really hope that Brendan would just leave them alone.From after seeing everything that happened between Ste & Doug they are still together. Ever since that Doug was kinda Conned and tricked into getting money from Brendan for the Shop.Seems like Ste and Doug have a strong relationship. Oh Im from the united states and i just started watching this online and i wish the US can get other International shows like this.
I still love Doug all he has done is kept a secret from Ste whereas Brendan on the other hand has done alot worse and before you say it 'Brendan's changed' or 'he did if for Ste' that doesn't' make it right! I like Brendan but I hate that Doug gets loads of hate for keeping a secret!
Some of this is no doubt just a careless choice of words. I find various behaviors annoying, like whining or lying, but I don't hate the person or character. Poor Doug's insecurities are excessive but understandable. Brendan *is* a threat to his happy little nest. Unfortunately for Doug, his responses to the threat are self-defeating. The writers play him as a fool, among other things.
I know I should say it's not good that Doug isn't honest towards Ste and it will blow up in his face (we all know it's only a matter of time) but all I wan't it to comment on Doug's sweater :p
