@@detailone978 if it was transparent, I don't think any of us would have an issue with it...just go in knowing that he has an agenda. None here. And nothing to hide!
You're awesome! Thank you so much Scott, I will speak for the group here and say that we appreciate all the hard work that goes into getting all these tests started and then doing monthly updates & spreadsheet data entry.
I can’t imagine the attention to detail and hard repetitive work that go into doing these tests. So important that we got honesty and you sticking to your beliefs for not being bought off. Thank you so much for that!
Great test Scott 🔥💪 glad to see EVO pro 10h was in top 3 coatings. We have improved the formula last year and should send you the new version for upcoming test ..
After having purchased Nano Bond some time ago based on some of your preliminary results, I'm finally going to install it on my car this weekend (after I've done clay barring and a paint correction). Can't wait to see the results! Thanks, Scott!
Thanks Scott. We all really appreciate all the effort that you put into these tests. I did notice that the Soft99 looked like it was trying to return from the dead. It might be better at the year and a half mark then it was at the one year mark 😃. Keep up the great work 👍
I'd love to buy the Nano Bond but I live in southern Arizona and the heat would make applying it problematic. So I'm going to try the Car Pro C Quartz 3.0 instead. Thank you for the no BS review!!
CQUK3.0 is definitely going to be a little easier to apply in warm environments... definitely try (either coating) applying it in the evening or early morning!
Scott, thanks for all your testing. Can't wait till you get back in the game. On your advice, I put the Adams Advanced Graphene/Ceramic coating on my wife's white Lexus, about two years ago. So far I am NOT disappointed. However, I do put a topper every fall and again in the spring after winter. Living in the Midwest, we do go below zero temps and up to 100 degrees in the summer. And this has been a daily driver. No complaints so far. I try to wash it once in the garage with ONR. Once spring comes, it does get a traditional soap & water wash, with light iron remover & water spot cleaning, then again in the fall before winter.
@@ScottHD I’ve noticed with Fusso that after the winter with all the road garbage that it appears to be done But the first good wash on a spring day and Boom it comes back I put two very thin coats I mean thin thinner thinnest on all three of my cars once a year And it last easily a year. I have three cans of the old original Fusso One can will easily last you the lifetime of the car And once it cures you can top it with anything you want for extra pop.
I’ve used UK 3.0 before and liked it. I was disappointed with the way Adam’s performed, I put that on my Dad’s car about 10 months ago and thought I’d have years… guess not lol 😂 Picked up some NanoBond, going to try it out. Thanks for everything Scott !!!
Scott, Another great test Video. More evidence that my decision to give up on these higher solids ceramic coatings was a good call. Many of these specifically on dark color cars can be hard to apply, and are not worth my time as a avid DYI car guy. I switched to Griot's 3 in 1 spray and as you show in multiple test it lasts up to a year which isn't much less than all these more expensive options. Keep up the good work!!!
And with minimal maintenance effort (ie. a rinsing or drying aid touch up) it effectively provides indefinite protection. It is so easy to use and maintain.
As a Kenzo master installer, I am not surprised at all. I dropped IGL due to lack of longevity, on average Kenzo would go 8-9 months in my area. Extremely disappointed with IGL.
Your Channel and content is so underrated. The great work and effort you actually put and do is so helpful in deciding. The time you take to make these real world time tests.
Glad to see you are separating the spray coatings and the pro coatings in your newest tests. I bought and applied the Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax and applied it to my hood yesterday. Wondering what the real world performance will be compared to static testing.
Is there any benefit to using these “real” coatings then if they’re only lasting a little over a year? If there are spray coatings that last almost a year that are much easier to install, that seems like the way to go.
That is a good question. Some claim that coatings reduce tiny scratches (swirls) because they're harder than the clear coat. Others say they're so thin that they don't offer any scratch protection. I've looked and haven't found evidence that convinces me they do. I'd love for a convincing test of the scratch, UV, chemical, and oxidative protection of various coatings and sealants but I haven't seen any good evidence for any of those.
CarPro Lite - dayam! They claim 6 months+, more like 12+?? I guess if properly applied and carefully maintained it's guaranteed to get to 12 months even on a daily driver in harsh conditions? Your master spreadsheet has certainly served me well - kudos Scott!
Thank you for your time and effort to make these tests happen Scott! Your channel is one of the few channels I actually value, there are too many out there that are paid to say what they say.
I'd be pretty dissapointed if I paid someone to apply a multi-year coating and it looked like the Nano Bond after 16 months. And that's a best-case scenario. 🙂 As always, Appreciate you efforts!
Nano Bond Nano Age has been my brand choice since 2018. It hasn't disappointed! The 1st application lasted me 2018-2021 and it was still beading alright.
Would be curious to see Nano Bond 9H vs. Mr Fix 9H as it's a quarter the price 🤔 Great work Scott. Thank you for staying independent & not letting companies influence you! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I found with the Nano Age that application temp and conditions made a huge difference. On my wife's car the parts in too much sun were super weak, but the areas not in direct light were fine. My buddy's truck we did the same day in the shade was fine.
I've extracted data on various coating products from the document. However, it seems that Turtle Wax products are also mentioned, but without explicit comparisons to other coatings in terms of their performance metrics. Here are some notable Turtle Wax products from the document and their durability: 1. **Turtle Wax Ice "Seal N Shine"** - Days until failure: 240 2. **Turtle Wax Pro Graphene Flex Wax Spray** - Days until failure: 270 3. **Turtle Wax Spray Ceramic** - Days until failure: 180 4. **Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Liquid Wax** - Days until failure: 30 The product ratings or '***' indicate top finishers, but this specific information was not uniformly detailed in the extraction results for all products. To identify the best value and best overall coating, we'd typically look for products with the longest durability (days until failure) and consider their cost-effectiveness compared to Turtle Wax's Seal N Shine, for example. If you have a specific performance metric, cost limit, or other criteria in mind, I can refine this analysis further.
I think the best product is UK 3.0. I reapply it to my own car every 14-18 months. This last time I topped it with gliss, but on the doors, I only used gliss. That was about 3 month ago, everything still perfect. Interested to see what happens. The NUMBER ONE thing to increase longevity of coatings, besides regular wash, is avoidance of excessive use of toppers, quick detailer, and any soap that leaves residue. Toppers leave residue that destroys the coating after a while. You can see it when you polish the car again on a coated car if, for example, a qd or topper was used as a drying aid every week or two for six months. The pads can even turn black. That's all decomposed "topper" that also traps dust and grime.
Love these tests. Great channel with great information. When I bought my new Kia telluride a couple years ago I put the Avalon king on the brand new paint and I’m just getting ready to redo that. So I think it was 28 months ago. So that has lasted pretty well. The sea quartz UK is what I have in my garage queued up as my next one. I’m glad to see it’s testing well.
Cquartz UK has always been my go-to and my first ceramic coating product that I have used. With thanks to you and your channel I discovered it. I'm looking for another one. Something cheap and inexpensive looking to do my granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. From some of your other test I have narrowed it down to what I think will be the best bang for buck. The nanobond which one this test. And Mr fix9h. Which do you think are the better of the two?
That Cquartz Lite is a real champ. Rated for six months, still alive at the 1 year, 4 month mark. I got rid of all my Cquartz stuff over the winter in favor of Optimum, but I've got Lite, UK 3.0, and Gliss in my cart right now. The music that changes about 2/3rd of the way through is also used my one of my professional wrestling podcasts. I got really confused for a sec!
I actually had an interesting result with Cquartz UK 3.0. With rare washes and 1 coating layer, the sides of my truck failed after around 6 months, but the top of vehicle where all of the heat and dust is still hanging in there. I believe it's something to do with the rain kick-up from the tires and not washing it off like I should. Just an interesting outcome I noticed. Also I'm in South GA.
For the money soft Fusso 99 is the best Two coats and you are good for a year A can will last you the lifetime of the car I have three cans of the old Fusso I am set for life.
Nano bond I have not tried that yet. I kind of test different ones on each clients vehicles to see what the results are. So far Armor shield IX works really well for me and now I am trying their max and goat. MOHS works well so far too. Adam’s is starting to die on some of the cars I did after two years.
I have run into that in the past with others like the spray coatings test ... They jack the price up 20-30% when they see a bunch of orders all of a sudden coming in. Wait it out or grab it in AliExpress instead.
carpro lite was 1 layer right? you applied twice in the install video but I'm not sure if that was right after each other to make sure it works or you waited an hour for second coat or something
I had the idea of testing the available AIO products...3d speed......griots new ceramic 3 in 1... P&S play maker... Adams one step....come to mind. there has to be enough of them out there to perhaps run a test.
Fantastic results. Thank you for your dedication. The detailed I chose is a firm believer in Borophene 3.0 and I trust his opinion. Where do you feel the nanopro may have ended up in this competition? Kind thanks in advance.
Scott - How old can an unopened ceramic coating be before it begins to go stale? Also, @4:10 and @9:27 Soft99 Fusso Wax seems to still have some life yet it’s labeled as dead. Seems like sometimes products come back from the dead for another month or so. No? Thanks again for all your tests!
I've used Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray Coating for quite a while. While it's not the best, it's ease of use, and for the money, it's seems pretty good for an amateur like me.
Just applied Nano Bond with 2 layers to my 21 foot boat in Michigan , I trust it last pretty long from your testing, but I’m curious how well it will hold up on gelcoat. Not sure how you would go about testing this btw, but if you wanted to expand, a suggestion is that you could test the marine coatings on gel coat as well, the car market is much more vast and tested than the marine coatings are and I’d love to see how they hold up. You could test for oxidation too, a bit problem with our boat is that the top edge is blue and after a single year will oxidize and the color will dull, so it would be interesting what coatings would prevent that kind of problem. Great video as always though!
Updates: The coating on the sides of the boat is still lasting to this day, water is still beading off almost just as good as when it was applied. The upper edge in direct sunlight not so much, it’s mostly been destroyed and is near nonexistent. Could be a direct sunlight and heat thing as we do not keep the boat under a sunshade in the summer. Problems: the upper edge of the boat (that is blue gelcoat) turned chalk white after the first 6 months, this has happened with other ceramic coatings we have also tried, so it’s probably a heat thing. Still trying to find a ceramic coating that will not turn white after a year on our boat. One other note: we have our boat on a lift so when we take it out every weekend, we don’t wash it down or anything, so the coating has been only maintaining itself off the initial application
This is interesting because I tested AS9 and at the exact same time a neighbor let me test Gyeon Mohs, the AS9 has already failed 18 months later while Gyeon is still performing well. I wouldn’t buy AS9 again.
Does anyone know if it is beneficial at all & safe to use a ceramic spray (eg; Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax Spray) over a ceramic coating? I wash my car monthly and usually finish with this spray. Should I continue to use the spray product?
That is a great point - I've done videos on most of these at the beginning of each series that goes over the SDS/what's in them and the mist entering the airways is definitely something to heed with caution...they have some nasty stuff in them - especially Adams products.
You should've tried to chemically decontaminate the ceramic coating every season or so, would give you better results especially revive some of the hydrophobicity
I can tell you 100 5 that Nanobond is completely worthless. After carefully prepping and applying the coating, it appeared to work. But after a month, the hood and truck top surface showed degradation and stains from fallout even after washing and wiping down. I decided to clay bar it to see if the impurities would go away, and they did nothing...it appeared that the coating itself was eaten away by dust, sunlight exposure, rain and there were holes through the coating. So now I have to polish and use another coating to avoid this. The pollen, dust, rain and sunlight really did a job on this coating. The pain is BMW Mystic Blue metallic, a little dark bluish color. The car is located in Houston Texas. I ordered two bottles and still have one left but I am not going to even use the 2nd bottle. You get what you pay for folks... I am going to see if I can find anyone who has any 22ple stock left over. That's the only brand I ever got over 5 yrs of protection out of so far.
Was it applied in the shade? Apparently it's picky about temperature and people say it doesn't last long if it's applied on panels that are in the sun.
Thank you for the review! Your throughout process for the longevity is awesome, most products will look nice initially but how long will it last 8-) --> ask "Scott HD", seeing is believing!
I know after this someone sent you a bottle of owners pride spotless but I bet most of these coatings are still good just really clogged. And it’s something 99% of consumers can use as long as they can wash their car. So being that it’s not an installer only option I feel like for tests going forward after every 3 months or so you should use the water spot remover to unclog the coatings. Or even just after 6 month.
No more hearing "Ethos Graphine Coating which is actually Carpro CQuarts 3.0 topped with SIC" or "JK Tianmei which is actually HK". Not gonna lie, gonna miss it..😁
Just found your channel! Wow! Absolutely spectacular!! Subscribed! Thank you! Definitely buying through your links!! Have you heard of “Jades”? Being told by an installer it’s quality. They said jades makes Adam’s, which I wanted until watching this! Lol. Thank you! In your opinion, if an installer can do any ceramic coating as a full blown business, could he easily do any other coatings if I provided it? Or do I need to find someone trained for whatever brand I choose (most likely #1 in your video!)
Hey scott. Would you be able and try to do a wash using a stronger shampoo like Carpro Reset to Gyeon Restart Wash, after you end the test, to see if anything comes back?
Appreciate the unbiased review. Considered doing a channel at some point, and I would do it exactly the same. Refuse to let myself be bought. Takes all the credibility away, even if they are being honest. I will buy from your links. Thank you.
have u tried the decon wash? sometimes the coating need to a good clean, my adams graphene is already 2 years old, with no maintenance and its still good............
Id be surprised if the cold really affected any of these. My cars see -45c all the time and the coatimgs dont seem too mind. Now the lower panels that get physically sandblasted by road salt. Thats a whole other thing
Thanks for all your hard work Scott Let’s say hypothetically, I’m very bad at washing cars and applying products. What do you think is the best product with the easiest, most idiot proof application method? Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray?
Any opinion on CG Carbon Force? I bought CQuartz Lite per usual for a customer a weekend ago, but got a very expired bottle that was solid crystal. Carbon Force was all I could get on a Sunday in time so it's what went on. Way overpriced at $150/oz I'm sure.
would you put nanoage on your personal vehicle given its unknown ingredients? also, are any ceramic coatings truly uv protectants? thank you so much for the amazing content!
Avalon king lasted me less than a year in dusty hot hot dry dry weather. Glad it held up better in a different situation. Desert dwellers, look elsewhere
I had it (AvalonKing aka Armor Shield) last barely nine months on three different cars with proper prep (clay bar, paint correction, applied in shade, etc.) here in the Great Lakes--two were outdoors constantly, while the third was garaged. So you're not alone. I've tried the cheaper Amazon equivalents (also made by Lixin Industrial Shengzhen, who owns the Armor Shield trademark) and for a third of the price (and in 50ml bottles vs. the 30ml Armor Shield), lasted the same amount of time. I'm OK with nine months out of a 50ml bottle for $20-$25, when on sale.
I'm using Feynlab for my ceramic coating needs. I don't wish to use a short term coating period. If you can give your professional opinion on Feynlab I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
I know this video is old, but couldn't these ceramic coatings have benefited it from a dedicated ceramic soap that keeps the ceramic barrier unclogged and performing its best? I suppose if a customer was to invest in a ceramic coating in the first place, it might be likely that they would also use a dedicated ceramic soap to refresh the barrier every once in a while? Would doing so extend the longevity?
My car had GTechnic applied 2yrs ago and its failed on all horizontal surfaces! I was told that the only way to remove it would be by wet sanding…..lol!! That doesn’t sound correct. Anyone know what I should do if I want to put a different coating on it?
What’s the most impressive coating you’ve tested? I currently install XPEL Fusion Plus with good results. Although I know it’s an outstanding product, I’m also know there’s probably some out there that perform better and last longer.
Most impressive - probably Cquartz UK original (hard to install) and the updated UK 3.0... it has, above all things, been consistent, long lasting, easy to apply, and somewhat inexpensive. (it's not "cheap" but not what I'd call expensive either).
