38-year-old man dies after he was hit by Banshee at Kings Island 

The survival rate of not jumping roller coaster fences and not getting hit is 100%

This is why common sense is so important. The guy did it to himself, he hopped two fences, ignored multiple signs, and paid the price.

What’s to investigate? The man deliberately walked into a restricted area, wasn’t paying attention, and became of victim of his own folly.

The number one killer, stupidity.

This was not Kings Islands fault this was the man’s complete fault

I lost keys on a ride at magic mountain, when I discovered they were missing about 20 minutes later, I informed the ride dispatcher and they had already collected them.

Ending your life over keys is crazy 😭

If he had survived I don't think he'd ever be the same again. It was reported he suffered a serious traumatic brain injury. I hate this happened but perhaps it was for the best in this situation. Even though he made a stupid mistake, I still feel bad that he paid so heavily for it. And for his family as well.

Never go into restricted areas, There restricted for a reason. I remember the kid who tried to get his cap from a restricted area on a batman ride but instead of getting his cap, he got decap.

Department of agriculture is inspecting the ride? Were they growing corn illegally? WTF?

Losing your keys sucks. Dying is worse.

He couldn't just wait for two hours. The ride operator let him know it would just be two hours but he must have had main character syndrome and went in on his own.

We're going to need signs instructing us to read the posted signs.

If only there were another way to “safely” retrieve lost items without dodging high-speed roller coasters.

You can put up all the warning signs you want they are useless if they are ignored!

This is so sad, of only he had waited till the end of the evening, the employees always will retrieve important lost items from the rides, yes it will suck waiting till the end of the night ,but in the long run, your wellbeing is much more important than a set of keys, prayers for his family.🙏

I wonder about the people who actually made contact with the man. They must be traumatized! So sad, but do stupid things and you pay the price. Also, hate that his 2 kids were there…..waiting for their Daddy…..who never came back😥😥

Lost his whole life because he didn’t want to wait until the park was closed for the staff to get his keys. People will never learn, there’s so many stories like this out there, people don’t realize how fast these things move and they just think “I’ll be careful, it won’t be long” then whack, your whole life is gone.

It was his own damn fault for jumping the fence. He should’ve listened to the Security people.

Entitlement is getting out of hand. People think they are entitled to break any rule and law now. No need to follow warning signs anymore I guess.

I’m surprised he didn’t hear it coming. Those B&M coasters are loud. And it would’ve been light out around 8pm in Ohio. But I guess scaling two fences means you lack situational awareness.

So, someplace talked to a disguised employee, and that person said that people on the ride were screaming and the front people had cuts and scrapes on there legs and one guy had blood on his face. With this ride the people in the front had to strike him with their own bodies unless they were lucky enough he went in between the seats (I pray that was so). Other employees also said that he would have had to climb 2 fences and multiple warning signs to get there. The employees that work the park don't even have keys to these gates. They have to be retrieved from the office before someone can get in there. All this for keys and not wanting to wait until the park closed to get them. Now he has ruined his family's life (and who knows? His 2 kids may have witnessed this) and traumatized so many other's lives now.

At 38 years old, you would think he would have known better.

Damn. A fun family day turned into a horrible tragedy due to recklessness and stupidity. The park shouldn't be held liable, imo.

How horrible. Go to a worker and tell them what has happened, and let them handle the retrieving. There must be some kind of protocol in place.

To add to the story. He lost his keys. Told a park worker. Was told he would have to wait until the park closed. Approx 2 hours. Decided to do this instead. This should be a sorry, not sorry, situation

Given that he was probably missing a significant chunk of his head from his own stupidity, I'm not surprised he died. Hell, I'm shocked he was even alive when EMS got there. The only people I feel bad for are the man's children, who lost their father, and the riders and workers who were traumatized. All bc the man couldn't be patient and jumped two fences and ignored the many warning signs to go into an area that was restricted for a damn good reason.

Deaths like this happened at other parks when going into a restricted area. He should have asked the ride operator to take him back to look for his key before starting the ride. He paid the ultimate price his life for not doing that.

Absolutely heartbreaking, you wake up and go to Kings Island, It’s a happy time, big smiles all day and then In a split second, tragedy hits and you’re no longer going home because you were accidentally killed, so unbelievably sad, my prayers go out to Arntanaro Nelson’s family & friends 🙏🙏🙏

Tragic to hear the man’s fate. Tuning into this story from AZ, huge rollercoaster fan but not many here where I am. I’m looking forward to hearing Kings Island response this evening.

The headline should read. 38 year old man, hops several fences into restricted area. Traumatizing park patrons as the roller coaster comes in contact with 38 year old who can't follow simple rules. People like him are why we can't have nice things.

Damn turns out that hopping several barricades guarding a roller coaster is not a good idea. RIP though it’s still sad when people lose their lives

Kings Island should be sued ... they should have had 4, 50ft fences, a mout with burning oil, guard towers every 50ft, a Roman Valium, snipers, crossing guards, mall security guards all to keep idiots out !

He died at the park. Literally on impact. They had him reported as dying "at the hospital" for insurance purposes.

Literally the Banshee took him! Here in Ireland, if you hear the crying of a banshee, then she’s coming to take you or a loved one. How sad for his family. Sorry for their loss.

This happened before, some Black guy went into a restricted area and got decapitated by the foot of a passenger on the ride. Fortunately the passenger was not injured.

So sad. The same thing happened years ago at Cedar Point. A guy, who I believe was a teacher, jumped the fence surrounding the Raptor rollercoaster to get his cell phone and was hit in the head when the cars came down a hill.

If this can happen to him it can happen to anyone who hops a few fences and stands on rollercoaster tracks...

There is no escaping your death destiny. To many freak accidents, stupid mistakes, poor, illogical decisions, one second later you would have lived, etc. cases to convince me otherwise.

Despite being six hours away, I consider KI to be my home park because I went there so many times. Hearing stories like this, 100% avoidable accidents such as this and the 1988 Carrollton church bus crash, really sting. So many memories of good times soured by senseless tragedy. 😞

thats why i leave everything with someone not riding or put stuff in a bin or locker by the ride. no hats, glasses, keys, wallet phone, jewelry, watch, nothing.

1:19 that's 10000% where it happened. Right at that spot in the ride. The guests didn't know what they'd hit, allegedly, and also alleged that it may have been a deer or animal. I'd say he was standing off to the right side where the blindspot is, it was probably sunset or around there ± some time, and they were going so fast that they actually might not have known what/whom they had hit. Crazy stuff.

Investigating??? Is there a fence (check), Was the fence open (no), Then obviously it was his fault. Investigation over.

I do wonder why they couldn't have just held the ride for a few minutes while someone grabbed his keys. They should have known in this day and age that people are too dumb to take no for an answer.

I rode the Banshee when it first came out. The lap restraint wasn’t down far enough. When the ride started I began to slip out of my seat. I screamed bloody murder for the ride to stop. It went around a couple more times and they finally stopped after people around me started screaming as I was slipping out of my seat. They let me off and the ride attendant didn’t even ask what happened. Imagine riding that ride with no restraint. I thought I was going to die that day. The sad part is most of the people thought I was just scared and were laughing at me. It was only the couple people that were close that saved my life that day. This was banshee at holiday world, not kings island

Ticket prices will continue to rise because of the money spent on armed guards, electric fencing, a moat with alligators around every area that says Restricted, Dangerous, Do Not Enter. I hate that someone lost their life especially for the loved ones for such a hard lesson to remind even one person its not worth it.

Well this was entirely avoidable which makes it so sad for his family and friends. If you drop something in a restricted area, simply tell an employee and they’ll assist you in retrieving your items.

Ive been on that ride multiple times. He didn't "walk" anywhere near it, he hopped tall fences to get over there. All of Kings Island's restricted areas have fences.

Of course the news wants to know how he got into a restricted area. Always looking for trouble and someone to blame so it makes NEWS. He walked in the area, honey. You aren't going to keep anyone out of anywhere if they want in bad enough. Stop looking to blame the park...your motive is transparent.
