$6-10k to build a 383 depending on what you use. Cast irons with machine work, or aluminum heads? Forged internals will cost a little more too if you wanted to go with forged internals, sniper costs a little more than carbs do, etc.
Sounds great. But you never get that same rumble like you do when it’s carbed , same thing when I build Harley motors , the ones I put an S&S on or mikuni always sound raunchy than the fuel injection motors
In the 10 range of compression, I am assuming using 92 octan gas. I have done a 383 with 6 inch rods using a compression of 9.8.1 with Aluminum heads with 2020 / 160 valves/ 68 cc combustion chambers. This 383 is going in my 1988 1 ton Chevrolet truck that I have used up 2 - 454's - 1 - 350 . The engines get used up because I am in Alaska and I am a hunting & fishing guide that pulls from May to late fall a large jet boat. the cold winters are bad on engines then extreme towing all summer takes a toll engines.
Judging this guys engine by the way the cam sounds? Thats called 0 experience. Build your own and post it up for us to see . That will make a ton of torque great driver 383
That motor looks fantastic! Love the paint scheme.. That will for sure be a true street engine and drive nice in that S-10. Probably shouldnt advertise as 500 hp . Maybe 425-450 is more on track. Great job though!
Thanks for your positive comments. A very similar 383 build with less flow through the top end and the sniper made 497 HP on the dyno. If you look through my videos you’ll find it. Enjoy!
@aleks_jones when you get a youtube video with a 350, or any variant of it, specifically the 383, you get the people who have it programmed into their brain that a 383 can't make 500 horsepower, and just like the seagulls on "Finding Nemo", that's all they chirp and you'll see it on every single 383 video or 350 sbc video. They just want to know somethin
@@dutchvanderlinde658 or you just have people who have never built an engine before spouting off quoting cartoons lol! Our latest one made 610 on the dyno. Sometimes its just an educated guess based on the parts in the combo....
You should check out Clay Smith cams call down there and talk to grandpa. They’re the oldest cam grinder in the United States. Everything’s done in house you order a cam takes about a week to get to your house because it’s ground right then awesome people I just build 427 stroker. The rotating assembly came to me balanced from Ohio crankshaft I called because I remembered them when I was a little kid at the drag races and the boat drags in California. They’re based out of Los Angeles they like 93 years old, the business three generations the old man talk to me for an hour and a half half about the motor I wanted to bill I told him I wanted to make 500 hp to the fly wheel. He wanted to tire size gear ratio everything after I got my motor together I took it to my Dino shop. It made 500 hp on the button, I used a Brode stroker block and left the stock with 9 1/2 compression. It will run on the cheapest pump gas check out Clit Smith cams
Sound like you use quality parts the only thing I didn't like is the sound I cannot stand Flowmasters they sound like exhaust bouncing around inside of a chambered can that's all it is. Put some magnaflows on there man Silver Bullet series straight through design no restrictions just got a deep tone sounds so much better get away from that high school flows sound. Magnaflows where it's at but if you insist on that type of exhaust check out spintech mufflers a lot better than Flowmaster
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning vehicles any more....:-((!!!
This is gonna be catastrophic if everyone's governments actually go through with this. Just saying, it won't happen everywhere in the US by 2030, no freaking way possible. So so many reasons why. Can't take these laws seriously.
Quit using the high volume pumps all they do is blow all the oil in the top of the engine and if you are at wide open throttle long enough you will pump the pan dry it will pump it to the top faster than it can drain back to the pan a stock melling oil pump is the way to go by the way the little engine sounds sweet
