Nice going on those books, Scott! I'm similar to Carl with asking people if they have more to sell in the house, or with negotiating down. It's just a skill I haven't practiced enough! I'm not like Carl with arguing with other resellers though lmao. Good job on the coin toss! 😂 I imagine I would have the same trouble re: booths ending up with more crap than good stuff in there lol. But I've also never done a booth or flea market so who knows :) There's a Doctor Who movie coming out and I wasn't aware of it? I HAVE FAILED! I also haven't found anything in VV in a long time, but I made a conscious decision to not shop from there for several reasons so I'm sure there ARE still awesome deals to be found if you go in regularly (I know Craig always finds stuff just about every time he goes lol). But yeah the small hole-in-the-wall stores can be great price-wise, even if not selection-wise lol. I don't think you guys talk over each other an excessive amount lol. Scott: you asked if I come from a small town. I actually grew up in Durham Region (Ajax and Whitby) so not exactly small towns lol. Although I do live in a small town now! It's not the advertising itself that bothers me on Instagram though. I have posted my items or whatever, but it's the captions and hashtags and the whole expectation of being "involved" in the reselling community on there, constantly sharing each other's posts, participating in promos with other sellers, somehow working your own life into what you're selling rather than just posting your listings, etc. There are groups of people on there who enjoy doing challenges, like "Post something nature themed on Thursday with such and such hashtag" etc. and that's fine, but I have no interest in it. Think of all the "Girl Boss" stuff but surrounding reselling vintage items. That might not be a good example but it's a similar vibe. It starts to feel like an MLM very quickly. There's an expectation that you'll create reels and stories all the time and be this super outgoing bubbly person and it's just not me. If I wanted to People that much I'd sell at in-person shows/markets lol. I think I'm just used to doing things on my own (very lax) schedule and get anxious when I feel like I have to abide by someone else's. Of course, when I say that, people will tell me "oh don't worry this is supposed to be FUN!" but guys.. GUYS.. it's not fun for a hermit. lmao. If I DID have a physical store or did in-person events then I might be more inclined to do that sort of stuff but even then.. It just doesn't feel like "me". All that said, a billboard or poster doesn't seem like a bad thing because it's sort of a one-and-done scenario where you don't have to KEEP pushing it every single day.. Put it up wherever and leave it alone lol. lol Carl "the kids these days are really into the Instagrams" If Mr. Magazine is still advertising in phonebooks that's probably not the worst idea because yeah, the older people getting ready to downsize might look there before they try the online route. Also with Instagram the idea is to try to sell to people rather than telling them what you already sold (unless your account is geared towards other resellers) whereas people who are looking on RU-vid aren't really looking to buy (unless they are also other resellers.. like Mr. Buysalot used to sell on RU-vid a lot and there are still plenty of people doing that even though Whatnot is now a thing). YAY for Stallion Express in Ottawa Carl! There's never any line for me but I also don't wait around for things to be scanned because the one guy that's working there is scanning bins at a time etc.. But I have never had something not scanned. Scott I was joking about the honey hole lol! It was after talking about competition etc. 😂 And yeah if someone offered me an amount on bulk stuff where I knew I would still make a decent profit then I might consider it too. MIGHT. lol "Meet Scott in a dark alley" 😂😂😂😂 Sheet music CAN be hit and miss. I try to find the pieces from pre-1940. Even better if it's pre-1925, but again like with all paper they can still be slow movers... that's why I'm creeping up on 13,000 active listings on eBay 😂 At this point though with a few months of slow sales if someone offered me $50k for my entire inventory I'd take it and start over lol. JUST SAYIN'... 😉 Have a good week!

As much as I'd like to take credit, it wasn't me who made the suggestion to separate men's, women's and kids. It was a good idea though.

IMO bulk buys are the absolute best as long as you don't chase after them. Don't overpay and realize the value involved. Scott, I think you're right. We just got our second big buy of the year. Two a year seems to be the deal. I paid $125 for 470 items. Less than 27 cents an item. At least two of them are $100+ and we haven't checked everything. The best part? They called me because we have a good working relationship.
