Hoster Blackwood's comment that the Bracken's were horse breeders makes me think I know how all this started. A stallion or a mare from either side gets loose and finds it way to the other stables, stuff happens, the runaway horse is returned BUT the question who gets the offspring leads to one side stealing it followed the other doing it back and forth until blood is drawn and well 4000 years later, the quarrel continues...

Imagine if we got the Long Night prequel show and it turned out the Brackens sided with the Others against the Blackwoods and the children of the forest. Bloodraven becoming the three eyed crow and manipulating events for the prophecy was solely to get back at the Brackens

I do like how they show runners compared the Bracken & Blackwood rivalry to Hatfields & McCoys Feud. For those unfamiliar, it is a feud between two American families after the American Civil War. in the backcountry of West Virginia and Kentucky. It was incredible and those outside the region were shocked at the violence between two families that had known each other for decades over the smallest incident. Initially over a pig

Losing a pig was not a small grievance. It can make the difference between surviving a harsh winter ( 19th century was towards the end of the little ice age) and starving to death.

I do wonder if the Brackens v Blackwoods is a bit like the Roundheads v Cavaliers (English Civil War 1642-49). To (mis)quote "1066 and all that" the Roundheads were "Wretched but Wright" while the Cavaliers were "Wromantic but Wrong". The Blackwoods are often seen as the "bad (or at least, worse) guys" for probably killing the Brackens' Heart Tree, but what if humanity needs to move past rule by Weirwood Overminds and so poisoning the Weirwoods is exactly the right thing to do?

How did we never get a Blackwood v. Bracken Trial by Seven or Trial by Combat in the histories? Most of the Southerners love the Seven. If the Targaryens can take part, I don't see why the Blackwoods wouldn't get their hands dirty as well.
