エゾシロチョウの標本を使った3Dゾートロープです。
A 3D zoetrope using butterflies (Blackveined white). Dried specimens were purchased from a seller. These specimens were placed on an LP record at regular intervals. The LP record rotates on a turn table. LED controlled by Arduino blinks at certain frequency. You will see butterfly specimens flying under strobe light.
The link below shows how to make my previous 3D zoetrope (drone beetles). The 3D zoetrope in this video (butterfly) also applies the same code and circuit.

Technically, that is possible. It would take 18 people, more or less. The cost of renting the carousel and the costumes would be your limiting factor. Lots of people would volunteer just to be a part of something like this.

You’d have to turn the merry go round very fast to make the strobe effect work!

@@alphagt62 Actually, no. You could put a sensor and nails or pins at regular intervals around the carousel. Then have the "actors" stand at the pins posing. Have a camera take a still frame each time a pin passes the sensor. You would have to play it back on a monitor fast enough to see the effect. If you choreograph the "actors" to assume progressive poses as the carousel turns, the actors become dancers, and the whole sequence would play out over several revolutions of the carousel. It would take a lot of work and time. And money.

I confirmed 33 1/3 rpm, 45 rpm and 78 rpm work if lightning frequency was properly adjusted. I would say the lightening frequency is more important than the rotation speed.

I don't this from experience BUT I would say it depends on the number of frames you have made there. Obviously the more frames you've made the smoother the animation. So if you made a disc/carousel with 30 segments you would need the light to flash 30 times to give every segment it's turn in the light. That would give you a playback of 30fps, which is pretty good frames as most standard videos filmed in that.... But I think the more the merrier applies here, still you would need to dial up/down the speed of the carousel and strobe together to find the speed that makes the image stand in one spot.

🇮🇩🧩 I'm so sorry, when it flashes I looked away and stopped the video :( Because in my mind is: "flashing = epilepsy" so is a danger/discomfort. Back then when I saw flashing for a while I feel tiny bit nauseous from my eyes getting tired. So since then I've been avoiding it. I'm afraid :'(( I've had epilepsy twice, but it's from ASD and puberty/hormone changes (what I know is a common thing) during those time, which is 15 years ago. I did drank medicine specialized named Depakote for 3 years and then I stopped. No side effects whatsoever, which is good. My gallbladder removal is nothing to do with it :3

Beautiful! What's creepy isn't just that you reanimated the dead. It's the way each individual is imprisoned within a frozen fragment of time, in the name of a collective illusion of freedom that confounds their particular identities, like a temporal Frankenstein's monster.

The turntable rotates at 33 rpm, roughly half a turn per second. There are ten butterflies which means five butterflies pass through the same point every second. Setting the strobe to five flashes per second illuminates the scene making it appear as if there are ten butterflies flying in a circle.
