What a G. I have been dealing with my probe hanging up in the body of the BL touch for 2 years causing my E5+ to need to be shut off and back on and all I had to do was adjust that stupid little grub screw a little to adjust the probe farther out.
Many thanks to your vidéo I think I meet the same problem than you. the top of the pin was shattered and the pin won't goes down after some actions. I remove the top sheath and naked parts off the magnet. I had a new thermo-sheath with some plistic inside. And my BL touch is alive again. great job
Thank you so much! I´ll try to repair mine. The plunger isn´t deploying enough (so it seems), so the hotend is hitting the bed before the BL Touch. I did not use the printer for a couple of weeks and then that started to happen.
That bastard of a probe made my toolhead crash into the bed multiple times that my garolite sheet is now nicked with holes because of not deploying at all.. does anyone knows in klipper how to fail homing and mesh leveling when the probe does not deploy? Like, checking the probe state before moving?
You could probably create a macro to insert into your preprint gcode to run this from the manual with a fail condition but I don't know enough about klipper macros yet to do so. : BLTOUCH_DEBUG COMMAND=pin_down, verify that the pin moves down. Run BLTOUCH_DEBUG COMMAND=touch_mode. Run QUERY_PROBE, and verify that command reports "probe: open". Then while gently pushing the pin up slightly with the nail of your finger run QUERY_PROBE again. Verify the command reports "probe: TRIGGERED". I just moved from a BL-Touch to a klicky/klackender probe today and like it way better than my BL-Touch style probes.
@@printerpr0n well i can't... I only have one printer... to print parts for itself... I'm in the verge of switching to a afterburner as the toolhead is falling apart... After I do the change then I can think about switching to a klicky.
I just tested out something with this screw. The probe of mine has a neodymium magnet inside of it and the grub screw is required to be magnetic, as it is used to hold the needle retracted as the solenoid coil is not energised when idle. So it need to be adjusted. The coil needs to have enough induction to overcome the screw magnetic field. Too far or too little and the coil will not have enough force to push the probe down.the coil is about 3mm above the lower edge of the kapton tape. EDIT: I measured the best location as to be the middle of the coil leaving just the conical tip at the edge out of the probe.
I put the probe homing Z about a hundred times and it was deploying all the times. The probe very occasionally bounces back twice when deploying. It hits the bottom hard and makes the screen flicker a bit.... Maybe I should put a protection circuit between the board and the probe...
@PrinterPr0n when I did this setup, after touch_mode, when i use the command query_probe the bl touch continuos open and not triggered, do you know what i can do ?
These are crap just cause it's more mechanical then the proximity sensors so they seem to fail more for me. I do run a farm with both and these are the worst, doesn't matter if it's bl touch, 3d touch or even cr touch.
