📖 Mario Builder 64 is a FREE, 3D Super Mario Maker like level creator letting you fulfill all of your SM64 dreams. Play one of the numerous user-made levels, or create a course pushing your imagination to its limits! If building isn't your thing you can play other people's 3D Super Mario Bros. levels.
The 3D level editor is easy to pick up, but offers a lot of depths to advanced users with over 100 parts to make you own Mario levels. The levels are endlessly customizable, with a vast selection of music, a theme editor, and an expanded interaction system.

@@SylkaChan You can use the assets from the hub to make a level, but there are no door actors yet. Imagine being able to make a level where you can set a star requirement on a door in the level? Like, you have to get all the stars to open a door that leads to some kind of ending, whether fighting a boss, some super troll-y death thing (you know some people would do that), or some manner of message (because this project has to move beyond a handful of generic messages for signs/NPCs - hopefully custom messages at some point).

The project will be taken down and the makers will be sued. Nintendo won't do anything with the idea for 30 years. And when they finally do release this as an actual game, there will be a small mention that they're willing to repair Joy cons as long as you have an original paper receipt

Always wanted something like this! absolutely love a 3D game editor (like portal 2, hat in time or Void maker) Nice to see we finally have one for Mario 64 And so far it appears to be more user friendly with how the placement of the blocks works

Glad to see this getting plenty of attention, and not a bad effort for 2 hours with minimal time for playtesting! For anyone who hasn't seen MB64 before you can also change the level theme, change the individual tile textures, the music and all sorts of other cool stuff is possible!

I had a feeling that you were going to play this, I watched Bathaniel Nandy play this earlier today. And it looks like you're playing some of the same levels that he did in his video. This may be due to there not being that many levels as of yet, though.

This is a really nicely made level Darby, especially for doing all this in 2 hours! Sure, there's a few odd things here and there, but finding those is what makes the testing fun. This is something that Nintendo really should consider making for Switch 2, it'd be pretty fun to build these kind of levels on a console. Though I'm not opposed to a SMM3 that adds in stuff that's still missing in SMM2. The creators of this did a fantastic job with this though!

There’s cheese to be had at the part where you press the switch and have to race to the top before it runs out. You could jump from the bottom to one of the gaps and take it as a shortcut

Very good first level! I've been racking my brain thinking of what I want to do, so many possibilities, yet racing koopa the quick as he climbs through the window was not one I ever would have thought about. I picked a spooky level look and theme so I got that part done

I love seeing the changes of how people build levels when a new builder game comes out. Seeing how people's tastes change, what's considered "good elements" vs "bad elements" in the game and how those change. The discovery is fun!

It's probably easy for Nintendo to make if it's a grid system and they use SM64, tho if theres a 3d maker there's gonna prob be sunshine and galaxy themes, making it more hard to do, anyhow if they figure it out it'd be a nice money printer

This project is actually incredible, designing your own levels looks actually easy, it’s almost like as if nintendo created their own toolkit to design those levels ,but i don’t think they had such luxury tool. Sure they will had tools to design those characters and objects but nothing else. But either way, it would be sooo cool if nintendo will come with their official sm64 maker toolkit for the switch to courage players making their own levels and share them with each other😁

This is really cool! I do see a soft lock possibility: when you got the red coin on top of the castle where king Bob-omb is, is it possible for you to fall down into the castle and fight him *before* you hit the switch to gain access through the red blocks? If so, it may be possible that people go in, kill the king, then not be able to get back out, since the blocks would still be there.

Maybe put a cannon in the middle of King Bob-omb's room - so you can always get out, but it adds a slight challenge as you try not to fall into it during the fight.

You never really know just how many enemies are in Mario 64 until you have to know. I forget bullet bills are even in the game because they are used only once.

If you make the Star above a permanent platform, but still too high to be reached without the timed platforms, not only you don't have to worry about Mario falling and getting hurt, but it also give you more leeway with the timer!

I do not see this game lasting for long once Nintendo gets their sniffets on it. Also, the thwomp on the ground just reminded me of one of the old Mario Party games when a group of us was playing and the person in the lead was basically softlocked in an area for several turns because the rest of us laid thwomps on every tile he had to walk past and they kept stopping him up. For several rounds he only got to move 1 tile each round. He was so mad over it. I never heard him swear so hard in my life lol.

Nintendo likes taking down stuff that is similar to games they're making (for example, Mario 99 was taken down by Nintendo, and then they released Mario 25), and it would be impossible for Nintendo to remove this from the Internet as it's a rom patch, it isn't a distribution of the game and it isn't a fangame If they attempt to tho, i'll take that as a good sign

Ive said for years that I wish Nintendo would make a Super Mario 3D Maker based on Super Mario 64, Galaxy, and Sunshine. Everyone Ive told it to said Nintendo's software wouldnt be able to handle the space needed to make such a game. Adding those multiple modes in the game would be epic. A Mario Sunshine Theme, Galaxy, and Mario 64 theme. Keep the textures, characters, properties, items etc that each corresponding game has. If Nintendo wasnt so strict about their copyright policies, I would attempt to do that. I predict something like that will be done in the future. My ideaa. 🥺👉👈

The only thing this is missing is probably being able to walk through the frames and or pictures to get to a level! Also I think each level should have 100 coins and then you get an extra life for it! I don't know if enemies having coins is extra coins or is within the 100 coins?

apparently doors aren't in this yet, but if the large levels in this are as big or bigger than areas in the og game it would be cool if doors could move between custom levels and the game keep track of everything in each level (to a limit) because then what you would have is a way to create a full game that could be changed extremely easily but more than that, if a grouping of levels attains high use then it could be used as a new arena for world records thus reinvigorating a wr game that is nearly fully demolished in terms of wr progression potential

We cannot provide any z64 files not even from anyone as this may get us banned no matter from who you get it from But once you get the right z64 file you will be able to patch any rom with it
