I recently supplied the drawings to Russell in the UK and he in return has supplied us with a DXF file that he used in his plasma cutter for the DB tool that we can add to the available files for community use. I'll email it to you .
Hi Shane, being on the brink of starting my 1972 vintage DB 885 restoration, I'm sure this little tool will prove invaluable. Thankfully, I have access to a 3D printer, so when the time comes, I'll print one of the setting gauges from your documents, which I've just successfully downloaded. Thanks for your altruistic support of the DB community, along with the other vintage tractor RU-vidrs, who give so much time and effort supporting others in their endeavours to preserve these historic machines.
Thanks so much for the kind words Gary! We need to keep these tractors alive and kicking for as long as possible. Good luck with your 885 restoration, and remember the David Brown Tractor Forum is there to help as well. dbtc.co.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=8ea8453fb509a9e65d7a4cf1f788f66b
Hi Shane, great vid just been and down loaded the push rod bracket, might try to print it just for giggles, hopefully get the printer running tomorrow. many thanks for the hard work. barry
Thanks Barry! This has been a really great adventure in a collaboration of sorts. We've got 3 continents involved in making this little bitty thing! It blows my mind sometimes just thinking about the 'globalness' of all of this lately.
Thank you for all the help I've learned, but because I am from PortugaI, I don't understand English properly, there are things that I have difficulty understanding and I have the following doubts: 1- My 1972 DB885 hiccups a lot, will it work if I do a cleaning of valve chest and the complet setting? 2- Before starting the work of removing the valve chest, I have to remove the gear oil, or it is not necessary? 3- What is the push rod bracket for?
Thanks for watching! Sorry about the language barrier and I'm sure my accent does not help much. 1 - You may want to do the easiest first: Clean the bypass and hold valves then test it. Hiccup can be caused by hydraulic piston o-ring failing, as was the major case with mine. Replacing all o-rings in the hydraulic system has cured mine of the hiccuping I was experiencing. Every o-ring on my tractor's hydraulic system needed replacing. 2 - I believe draining hydraulic oil is necessary. If you're referring to the gear oil in the final drives, then no, that's not necessary. 3 - Push rod bracket is to hold the draft control and height control pushrods in place in the right-hand ramshaft bracket compartment.
