3D modeling a ring on iPad with Shapr3D 

$40/month? No, thanks, I’ll stick with free blender on my laptop, btw it has much more features.

It was my dream to use sharpr 3d on an iPad. My father gifted me an iPad just a few days back and the first thing I did was use guessed it downloading sharpr 3d. Thanks to the developers to make this 3d modelling experience so special especially on an iPad.

People saying the price is too high.. yes it is high but it’s pretty much the only option for true CAD on the go on the iPad, the price is pretty high but if you plan on using it you might be planning on selling your designs or your 3d prints, so is an investment, I wish there were more options on the iPad but this is a pretty great one very user friendly and beginner friendly too.

That price is insane, when free programs do better.

Its a great app.. But with price of the app you must be out of your mind. Cut the price in half and you will have twice as many users.

Should be called ‘limited trial version’ This is a really well-thought out 3D app for iPad. It makes intelligent use of the Apple Pencil. It’s easy to use, and has a relatively flat learning curve, with a robust help system. Having said that, the Free version is nothing more than a come-on to get you to subscribe to a very expensive paid version. How expensive? Currently, I pay in the vicinity of $50/month for everything that Adobe makes: Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, et all. These guys want $30/month (or $20/month, paid yearly, in advance) for ONE APP. Explain the value proposition to me on that. Preferably without holding a gun to my head. It’s a pity. I don’t need 3D often, but when I do need it, I NEED it. If these guys would offer, say, a metered version that would let you use all the essential features for X# of models per month, I might bite. Or even a purchase price, saving you from the nickel-and-diming you to death of a subscription model. But at $30/month, I’ll have to take my 3D projects elsewhere and bite the bullet to use a product that isn’t quite as easy - but far easier on the pocketbook.

I hope Ipad Pro OS would be revamped into IOS pro version. The big hope for Autodesk, Pixologic, Substance enters the IOS market same as Adobe Photoshop for next year. Impressive!

I wish Fusion 360 had iPad Pro support. I use Fusion for everything, from FRC to 3D printing at home. If I didn’t have fusion through my school, I’d consider this; the price is certainly right, regardless of what people who have never looked into professional 3D modelling software say about it in the comments.

It will be interesting to see polygons. so much boolean operations, I am just scared about how messed up the mesh will be

planning on purchasing the new ipad pro later this year. Is this really a good app for design and rendering then 3d printing or is there a better app for what I need? I'm a jeweller who has only used Rhino3D on laptop which is powerful but quite outdated

Solid Modelling that is what this is. Could be done with, Autodesk Inventor, Catia or Solid works too. If you are an student, you can get one of those at great discount student price or free.

Lol. As a 3d modeller, jewelry too, i can say that u need at least 23 inch display, fast pc, good mouse and blender/3dmax/maya/zbrush combination. Those ring on a video u can sell for...free on cg trader and nobody will download that ever.

Why is everybody comparing this to blender ? This is a solid modeler, blender is polygon based, it is VERY different. Solid modelers are way more complex, and this UX feels so good. Good job @Shapr3D !
