This is amazing, the reflection is very nice, the changing lighting makes it feel like it's there. Truly spectacular, this is definitely not your first 3d track. Actually this is the highest quality most realistic track I've ever seen. The partial reflection even wobbles in response to the texture of the table... And the shadow is dynamic as well. And the letters aren't perfectly smooth... and... is this really 3D?
You know you're doing a good job when people keep speculating how you did it, regardless of whether it's real or not. If it's CG, nice work on the shading and reflections. If it's real, nice work on the manufacture of the logo!
Brilliant! Looks like you could reach out and touch it and the dropped down 'O' is a nice touch. I'm only just learning After Effects and aspire to do tracking this good!
Haha! You are a legend. Nice polystyrene cut-outs! I was absolutely sold til I read the comments. You should be one of those comedian/magician people. haha. you had me fooled.
why you guys calling it fake? This can be easily done with Maya, Matchmover, and composit apps like After effects. As for the reflections...the entire table could be CGI for all we know...or they could have used Render Passes on a bkg shader. Or maybe it is all styro...but it would literally take longer to cut this out in styro than it would be to do it in cgi.
Given the quality of the footage, the accuracy of the table reflections and lighting, I'd say this a really cool...foam cutout. I could be wrong, and in that case you should be running ILM or WETA. Either way, great job!
I've never heard of anyone 'faking' a cgi shot. But I think the letters are 3d foam letters. The giveaway is the way the foam letters are bent when looking at them from the side and also the ambient reflections on the table are too good.
There are two options. Firstly. It is really made on computer (notebook hope does not matter). Or, secondely, the sign is made from some plastic or another material and just recorded with normal camera. What do you think?
Hey, I have been trying to do this FOREVER. I am using Cinema 4d but I can not figure out how to import my 3d object into my live footage. Would really appreicate it if you could help me out. Thanks
It's given away at 0:10, the dusk on the lens goes in front of the letters. Not so easy to fake unless it was done in post. also the exposure matching is way too good.
it's just that it's soooo perfect that record this with a videocamera of that resolution and paste the effect... it's just that it shouldn't fit! a low res video "remasterized" on PC and with motion traking... too perfect to be true... i think that it's just white painted wood or something by the way...
No he is right. Take a close look at 0:10, 0:12 When the camera exposes too much it gets darker and text gets darker too. This is way too realistic to be done with any program
ha you can see the cardboard box in the background where i presume the letters came from xD also the quality is far to choppy to get a track as good as this lol awesome idea tho ha
andrewx12x It's not fake, he purposely lowers the post-rendered footage's resolution to add to the realism of the text being in that shot. It's also not hard to track the sun's position, attach a light object with the same color beam as the sun, to further trick the eye. Of course many more variables play into this illusion but you get what I'm saying.
Nicholas Hickam I agree with you Nicholas, because high quality footage has to be compressed. Especially this one because it is so good. Also motion tracking takes up a lot of space in file.
What in the hell are you all talking about fake!? Cinema 4d, After Effects CC is more than capable of producing these results, use a reflective material on the text in C4D, use a plane below the text and stick a photo of the background on it with frontal projection, use an object buffer and set up your lights properly, done. (not those exact steps mind) but this is possible!
