This is how I made Jagged Loop, a 3D printed wall sculpture made from PLA bioplastic. This sculpture is inspired by the paper geometric work of Matt Shlian, particularly his Unholy 112 sculpture.
that's art for you. i had to put one of my arms in a sling whilst working on a painting because i was too agressive against the canvas when i was layering. the canvas was fine, my arm trying to make the red smoke was not. and then people look at it and go "pff, i could do that"
I have seen mass-produced, one-piece versions of this in several galleries. Not one of them came even close to this level of beauty. You, sir, are an utterly incredible artist. Your eye does not let you down. Oh yes, the cheapest was £2.5k.
@Weise Certainly. The Eden Gallery in London, AvantGarden in Milan and one in Barcelona... I think it was Nogueras Blanchard. If not, it was 3 Punts Galeria. I visit dozens of galleries and exhibitions every year as I manage my great-grandmother's Trust Fund, part of which sponsors new and emerging artists. The wealth of talent continues to grow, year on year. It is rather exciting.
This is amazing! I also like the fact that it's 3D printed because it's going to make it much more lightweight and easier to hang on a wall. It looks incredible
The only reason I saw when it looped was because there was a small pause. This is by far the best loop I've ever seen! (Also, I feel the need to mention how much I love the attention to detail with the paint color!)
Dang bro I can’t say I know the technicalities of any step of the process, but goddamn I gotta admire the drive and time you put into this. Especially the painting process. You can tell it’s something you are really passionate about.
Looks so good and that perfect loop though Edit: this comment was originally posted 6 months ago and now has 9.3k likes. (Today is March 12, 2023) it would be cool to see it in another 6 month.
@@BakedBuddy I hate when they force the loop by ending the video saying something like, "and that's why...", or "what's really cool is how...". It always makes me think I'm about to hear the best part, but it just loops.
This is the best example of hard work pays off because even if this project broke or failed you would learn from it and try again but instead with your new knowledge❤😊
As someone who makes things like this, I can say this is SSSSSSSSSSSSSooo much hard work. Even just printing them is not as simple as hitting a button. The failure rate is quite high as well as warping and other things that goes into this. Good job :)
I always admire people that can dedicate so much time and effort out of their lives to something so unnecessary, simply for the satisfaction of overcoming the obstacles to create something beautiful. Cause the lord knows i've no patience for this. Incredible.
Care, effort, and spatial coordination. I personally have to use a lot of math and referencing to even get half as close to something like he has done. Some people just have that spatial awareness as second nature, while I have to use 90% of my will and attention not to stumble over dust when I'm walking across an empty room.
You mean the process of having a computer 3D print a sculpture followed by a dude painting the whole thing one color and assembling it…? Very. Yeah, impressive
This deserves a lot more attention than it currently received. You spent countless hours printing, painting, sanding, and assembling this magnificent piece. Well done!
@@froggy5748 sculpting is what the 3d printer does🤡 and he 💀used some sandpaper then airbrushed it. WOW really hard. Everyone is doing these 3d plastic crap. People are sheep and have no originality. The hardest part is done by the printer and takes the most time. The reason he doesnt do it by HAND. 🤪🤡🤡🤡
Your work is amazing and really interesting but I also like your videos bcz they neatly illustrate how much work goes into a piece of art A lot of ppl seem to think artists wave a magic wand -- esp if a computer is involved at any stage-- and, presto, the work is complete.
VERY well done. The only thing I would have done differently is make it multiple colors that fade into each other. That would have definitely been something I could have stared at for hours back in my stoner days.
You're amazing, and i love your explanations. I am an artist and a perfectionist, and i can imagine you are a perfectionist too with this level of detail in your work. Well done 😊
