of course they care about us. Every time their is a big event like "25 years GW" or "500s shop" and so on they REWARD us with the opertunity to buy one special model for 30+Bugs.... isnt that nice? Some of those companys who realy doesnt care about their fans would do silly stuff like SALES...pfff who need sales? I want ONE MODEL for 30+Bugs!
@@ElProllo-86 My biggest gripe about GW. I don't mind paying thirty-five USD or so for say a Necromunda box or similar. There will be ten multi-pose minis and enough bits to kit them out so they don't look like a Riverdance troupe. Great. Fine. And then GW expects us to pay the same amount for a monopose character. WTF? So because it costs a lot of points in the game, it costs more dollars to put on the table? That is some twisted logic, and no wonder people kit-bash and proxy characters.
@@christopherpeery7436 I know, I know. One Page at least started as a refuge for the disgruntled GW gamers (at least the ones lacking a preference for abusive relationships) and KoW is likely to once more get more exposure with all the talk about ToW. "Warhammer" also seems to have entered the popular vernacular as the name for the hobby ...
This is great! In a moment when all eyes are tuned to the tyranny of GW, we have this wonderful video that shows how stress-free and fun the hobby can be without the heavy dramatical overbearings of an over-rated company. Nice job!
All I can say with GW's current bullshit approach on fan content, and the ability to create playable armies without buying GW models... We don't need GW, GW needs us.
Coming from Magic The Gathering, where using "proxy" cards is frowned upon by the community ( someone being found of using "fake" cards would be outer and called a cheater ), how does the warhammer community reacts to someone printing his stuff instead of buying?
@@JfrancoisRicard Different, because what you play with in MTG is often based on decks gained from random purchases and some cards come with a scarcity attached. In Warhammer, anyone can field any unit in any army as they please, as long as they have the unit. Tournaments will refuse proxy models, but friendly games or games in local game stores 99% of the time do not care what the source of the miniature is, as long as the dimensions are correct, and that it has recognizable and easy to identify gear (which effects its abilities).
@@KimKhan angry players. Angry you have not paid 300quid on a card you could just print for friendly games. Deck building and skill should beat wallets, but people are brain washed into 'legitimately'
@@JfrancoisRicard The proxy argument stems from the investor class of MTG players and Wizards protection racket. People have no problem playing with proxies which is why cards are available in other venues.
@@DamplyDoo ok so basically games workshop said no more fan animations which made everyone really mad. And then people started realizing that they could just 3D print their miniatures instead of buying more expensive and lower quality plastic stuff from GW. And GW didn’t like that so they said no more 3D printing either. And that made everyone REALLY mad. And then GW tried to sell people a big dumb primaris ultramarine action figure/dust collector at a price of 550 dollars. And that made everyone *REALLY REALLY MAD.*
Also came out that GW pays its creatives an absolute pittance, while it is only through their hardwork and creativity that the company earns millions for fatcat shareholders. Made several youtubers pretty mad.
I will be. Can't wait to make an army of Notcrons Never got into Warhammer because the cost of models just seems ridiculous. 3D printing I can mess up paint schemes , I can print a new unit if it breaks I can try a unit I'm not sure about, just so much more freedom for much less risk and cost !
A little correction, as I am a Patron of OPR... the 50% MMF discount is offered directly the first month you subscribe. After 3 months being a Patron you get some behemoth style models as a thank you. And by the way: exactly the Mummies are the army I am working on right now.
Question: The pillars to make the fillers belong to the patreon? And what is the size of the miniatures? 28? Just to know if it needs to be rescaled to be nice with GW tomb kings cause for example Lost kingdom were too big!
Given their recent practices, it would probably be a good thing if ALL crafting/warhammer content creators started doing this. If GW wants to screw the fans, the fans should return the favour....
I was on the fence after watching Jeremy's video, and your's just pushed me over it. So now I'm backing my first ever patreon. Turns out engaging with content creators IS the right way for companies to advertise :D
3D Printing An Entire Warhammer Army - btw, it's for KoW. Why does this matter? Because you made me click it with the word Warhammer, and after watching it, I still have no idea if it can actually be used for warhammer since I don't know if the models rank up on 20mm squares. Why not just make the title "3D printing an Entire KoW army?" No expectations, no dissapointment, no need to spend 14:57 watching it.
@@GeekGamingScenics Warhammer is a generic term for Wargaming? First I've ever heard of it and I've been in the hobby for almost 30 years. Perhaps a local thing around Britain? Anyway, many of the GW minis didn't rank up easily as you say, but since they had adjustable torsos, arms, heads and sometimes legs you could with some effort make (most of) them rank up without cutting them up and greenstuffing them. Your 3D prints seem to be in one piece witch means thats not an option, right?
@@Anecron1 I'm in the UK and I've only heard 'Warhammer' used specifically in reference to Warhammer Fantasy. Possible AoS, but I dunno as I don't play AoS. 40k is 40k. Kings of War is Kings of War. 'Wargaming' would be the generic term. Pretty sure I wouldn't phone up a mate and ask for a game of Warhammer then turn up with a Kings of War army or a 40k army.
@@joshuaamodeo5032 Yeah, how pedandic I must be that think things like words matter. Sometimes, I even expect milk cartons in the store not to contain cream. So silly, I know!

@@GeekGamingScenics @TunneLVisioN42 @Uncle Jessy Saturn user here, it was your vids that made me take the plunge and buy some Zmud even though you and others have had problems with it on the Saturn. Can't say that happened to me, so quick to calibrate, manage to dial in the settings and print off validation and test minis in an afternoon and evening! I am blown away by the quality of the detail. I don't know if you have all sorted it in the last few months but my settings are; bottom layer: 5 x 20secs. Normal layers: 0.040 at 3.0secs, btm lift 6.5mm/min, normal lift 65mm/min(may experiment with higher speeds) No AA, (doesn't need it, the definition is amazing). Used OPR and The Makers Cult pre-supported minis. Not affiliated with Uniz, but can be persuaded 😉@Geek Gaming Scenics love these type of vids.
I agree Luke on this one. 3d printing has come a long way, and printing whole armies is definitely in reach. I am using a mix of Artisan Guild and Lord of the Print files to build out my Orruk Warclans. The quality that the big designers are putting out now is top notch.
I actually just did this exact same thing, took me less than a week! Granted it was a sons of behemat army with nothing but 4 massive Jötunns played as mega gargants but still,an army is an army!
It probably goes back to The Mummy Returns and loving the giant army of Mummy zombie Anubis warriors, but I wish I had gotten into WFB and a Tomb Kings army. Maybe now is finally time. Gotta look into a printer.
I think this is great. It is important to realise that there are OTHER miniatures companies out there, and if you can get a paid subscription to print those all legit why not :)
As a Veteran of the Long War, I can assure you that proxying is nothing new. There have always been other manufacturers around and as long as you weren't playing in a GW store or event, there was never anything GW could (or can) do about it. There was even a time when GW used other manufacturers in their publications.
One Page Rules is my favorite line. You just can't beat the value of that patreon with the big group you get right off and the discount on their other armies. I always wanted a lizard man/seraphon army and I just got the entire range for 70% off with models that look better to me than the GW range.
Super cool! I can't say I'm one or the other for me 3d printing is kinda pricey with non Europe/American other first world counties, I have build models so I'm more baius only becuse, I haven't had the portunity to print XD So for now I have to take you on your word the entry printer is 5k in my currency and yes that is a lot ((for us if you reading and wondering if it is))
I undertand your pain, the exchange rate here in brasil kill the 3d printing game. For luck some friends have small company for 3dprinting ( more for eletronic, and engenering pieces than gaming) and are starting resin printing now. But man, just purchase the files already weights on the wallet. 10 dollars for the patreon ( one of the best deals per model) exchange for 80 BRL ,post taxes. Plus 9brl for human size models, because my friends tax me only the cost. and in the end, a small warband cost me the same as half my rent in this magical christmasland scenario.
@@williamflores8258 I feel you man, what makes me sad is I can't get the subs on that as the banks here don't do international monthly debits, they see it S fraud or me trying to do something shady, I have to manually start a sub every month if I want to support someone and here is where I feel bad, its such a hassle to do that if its kinda a blind box deal, I hope more of the 3d subs would do a single file purchasing when the new set drops. More money for them and it would help people from countries like mine xD
@@williamflores8258 shithole bureaucrats limiting the creativity and potential of all Brazilians... Brazil should be one of the most wealthy nations on earth but sadly the government has curtailed this future. Hopefully the people change this.
They don’t care, not really, if they did they’d improve their community approach and realise that by charging less they sway people back to buying things again, but they won’t. They have not changed in 21 years, since I last played 40K.
Everything in this video is great. I love the OPR models, I just started printing their wonderful lizardmen (to use as Salamanders in KoW, of course) last week. They come right off the supports and look great. Compare that to the six hours I spent assembling some plastic Naiads on Sunday… and yes, 3D printing is a clear winner. (I’ve only got so many days left in my life!)
@@GeekGamingScenics bro you know it, I know it, those are tomb lords, just 3d printed and coming from another company. But i made the comment at the very beginning, not knowing it was from an actual company, so my bad lol
@@nicolaspetersen6847 Even if we go with your original point... who cares? There are so many other systems that dont have this artificial-feeling hate for building your own stuff. The only reason that anybody cares the least bit about proxies is that GW themselves throw a fit about it... and that makes me want to proxy more. The second a hobby that I enjoy starts gatekeeping, it makes me specifically want to find loopholes to allow others to get into the hobby easier.
GW got rid of tomb Kings when I was in High School. Now that I make about 6 figs a year, I can afford Tomb Kings, but they do not sell them. Time to go spend $1000 for two printers and a curing machine so I can print some armies. Thanks GW. Nice paint job btw.
Heey, one question, do they have the same scale as the real tomb kings(28mm)? I mean for example lost kingdom has bigger models and it requires a rescale of the minis. The pillars are in the same patreon?
3:08 Blew my mind!! 🤯🤯🤯 I had no idea I've been over curing, I just thought 3d prints were very brittle and sensitive, really turned me off to the whole process.
I'm happy that you're happy. And rightfully so. The army looks amazing. I still find it hard to paint models at such a quick pace. Spending a lot of time per model while in the end I never really look back at the details etc etc. I'll try to keep your words to heart when painting ;) keep up the good work.
Just an advice from a portrait painter that have tackle the acrylic alongside oil long time ago . Do not put acrylics over oil (oil over acrylic is ok) because it will CRASH and fall within a couple of years (acrylic curing tension the oil film, and the oil film cannot handle it)
You should be a good role model and wear a proper mask and gloves when printing or handling resin. Even when just pouring it in the vat. This stuff is no joke, especially in the long term.
@@ivandeoz I recently played a game of Bolt action and after the first turn of movement I had had enough - once we finished our game both of us came to the conclusion that we wish we had spent the time playing KoW instead.
Contrary to buddy bitching in the comments I see this as a potential golden age for the hobby. Dedicated design teams doing both minis and rules that can be used interchangeably has the potential to give us beautiful armies and good/fun games to play with them. The only issue I see is a way to get the FLGS in on a piece of the pie. They provide a useful service in the form of a dedicated venue and need to pay for rent.
quick tip for removing supports if you hit the supports with a hairdryer to heat them up they will start to warp and you can easy removing of the supports and they should leave a nice clean surface. i love my 3d resin printers. great video. :) also if you want fast prints you need a mono resin printer. i am able to print 100mm tall models in under 3 hours. :)
Everyone be like "stick it to Games Workshop!" but forget about all the other people out there selling traditional miniature kits. I think 3D printers could very well prove to be the death of the hobby. Think about it: Where do you GO for your miniatures? Where to you GO to see painted miniatures and to talk to other enthusiasts? Answer: A game store. What are they going to sell you if they don't have any miniatures and models, and game rule systems are all internet downloads? Paints and brushes aren't going to pay the bills. The future is everyone sitting at home in their bedrooms waiting for miniatures to print out on their 3D printers. No more game stores, no more socializing, everything downloaded from the internet. You can print them, but nobody's going to see them. Game stores will go the way of video rental stores.
can anyone tell me if the 3d printers nowadays are ok to use in a smallish room regarding vapors etc...(id be using it in a converted attic space if i do get one.) thanks in advance...great vid by the way...love your content and products
I use a Saturn in my bedroom... the resin whiffs a bit at first. However, the little elegoo filter two pack thingies really do work to reduce the smell and are very quiet. Of course they do other resins now with lower fumes so worth looking into those too.
Pla yes some exist from what I can tell. Resin printing, no, for health reasons you want it in a place that is well ventilated. It is not just smell, it is the toxic vapor coming from many of the resins and toxic to get uncured resin on you and resin printing can be quite messy. Always read the MSDS and do your own safty research for every resin or material you use in your processing, etc.
Have you got any tips on IPA alternatives for those of us in the UK for cleaning? I'd love to try that resin but reluctant to bring more hazardous chemicals into the house (using water washable atm, but it's a bit brittle)
The resin you’re using will be far more hazardous than IPA. IPA is the same as surgical spirit, can be used on skin, though overexposure not recommended! Water washable resin highly toxic, and when you’ve washed your print, you’re left with a tub of contaminated water that can’t be poured down the drain. If you’re worried about hazardous chemicals, try Anycubic eco resin, still toxic when liquid but minimal smell and once cured it’s no longer toxic and can be composted.
@@GeekGamingScenics i would love to live in an area that a person could support themselves buy building warhammer terrain. 3d definitely has its place. Ive seen some incredible sculpts, I just disagree with those that print whats powerful (meta riders) vs rule of cool. Have a good one!
You're in your room, watching this video. The video starts to buffer, and you hear a faint growling in the distance. You look out of your window at the street, stretching longer than you remember. At the end of the street you see a tall, bulky man, at least you think it is a man, clad in deep blue and gold power armour, wielding a banner displaying the letters 'GW' and the source of the growl. A chainsword the length of a man. He looks at you, you feel his eyes glaring into your soul beneath his helmet. He points the chainsword at you. He knows about the 3d printer you still haven't opened yet, and your intentions. A swarm of men in suits storm your house, destroying every last model they find. The man tears through your front door and slices through the 3d printer. They confiscate your Vallejo paints and 3rd party minis before finishing you off with a bolter round in the leg. They leave as suddenly and quietly as they arrived, leaving behind a note. 'Haha imagine having a unique army in this hobby, give us money you bitch.'
It would be spookier if GW ordered the Mechanicus to spy on all your social media, search and purchase history and then sent the inquisitors to sue you into oblivion for defacing the company, reproducing copyrighted products and infringing on their sales.
U know I was thinking about getting into warhammer table too since the Wh 40k TTS series got me into the intire franchise, but the GW wanted to control any and everything and because of there actions I was not willing to give them a single cent, but 3D printing my own army would be nice, and a big project that could keep me occupied for some time, would have to buy a 3D printer but that is cheaper then a GW army anyway.
I haven't bought anything from GW since I got my first 3d printer last year, I've printed about four 40k armies since then, as well as a bunch of other bits and pieces. No wonder they're scared.
You are my hobby hero! I really need to look into 3D printing my own minis. The way you painted them was amazing, for to long i have tried to paint such a high standard that nothing gets done. I just dont know where to start with 3D printing. Thanks for the video it is my second favorite of your videos.
Honestly, it's not actually as hard as you might think. I got an Elegoo Mars 2 Mono a few months back for £190 (plus a 1L bottle resin for about £30), and it basically ran straight out of the box; barely any setup needed. Check out a few RU-vid video to learn about maximising your settings, and after a handful of print runs you'll have a pretty good idea of what you're doing.

I would love to see this army expand more, I love the idea of having a whole unit on a larger base. If possible it would be so cool to see new units come into the army and watching the amount of units grow more!
Me and the other 63 players locally haven't touched a GW product in 5 years. We can print the entire GW and Forge World lines (no we cannot give you the STL as GW is a glutton for money and court rooms) we have our own 40k rule sets modified from the core of 40k and it's far more balanced and we never have to deal with baby men who take rules beyond the point of historical nonsense just to win. And everyones army is whatever colors they want and they can still play tournaments. GW just uses players as advertising boards with their ridiculous rules that's why we don't even support our local hobby shop either lol our hobby is our hobby not GWs and they wont talk us what to do ever again.
Tabletop gaming is a hobby.... Painting minis is also hobby.... 3d printing is also a hobby.... and it turn out so good when it's combined like that.... 😮
It’s a Warhammer army (or army for ANY game in this scale) until you base it according to that game’s standards. You can use chicken nuggets to play Warhammer if you want to.
I guess those should be legal, GW killed its Tomb Kings when they killed Fantasy to start the aos. Also 3D printing doesn't always mean there will be warhammer minies printed, but other's works, either bought or free. Oh and 3D printing encourage people to pick up 3D modeling.
So how does this work then? For £8pcm you get an 'army'. That's the printer files for how many figures? All the ones displayed in the video above or just some? Do you get 12 armies for £96 or 12 sets of a varying number of figures? Are they all for the same system/era or whatever or do you get an army of mummies one month and a regiment of Fire Zouaves the next? What is the cost per figure once printed as Luke has done? How does that compare to buying pre-molded/printed figures? NB not keen on having obvious scenery moving around the board with the figures. Smells of magic.
Hi, I am new to 3D printing. I wargame 28mm figures. Would you be able to recommend a good printer for me that would be suitable for 28 mm figures? Is there a site where you can find accessories and resins that you would need to complete a project? Thank you Jack
Also, in a aussie voice oddly obscured by a obvious gas mask "Thats not a army, now this [*pulls out a death korp of krieg infantry brigade STL list*]. This is a army."
It’s aug. 14th, right now on the GW site 21 ork units are available. 25 are unavailable or sold out. 3D printing has overtaken their ability to serve their customers. If they were smart they’d put a high quality 3D printer in each of their stores. Imagine no supply chain, no need for warehouses and never running out of models for people. Imagine being able to design every Space Marines pose online then sending in that order and they get printed the next day. Imagine being able to get a fucking Thunderhawk! Printing one of those ridiculous Titans would be em event for a store. Games Workshop stores could be about playing the games instead of just a repository for boxes.
can you print the soldiers that are on that xmas show, Bergermeister? about 2" about for height . I want about 20 to 25. How much sir? Don't need any bases or painted. Thank you
