Hey! Note that the disc is not flat so if printed upside down the support would have lead to poor surface quality 😀. Hope you enjoy the video. bit.ly/47CrPnG /Jonathan
Hello from Louisiana! I love disc golf and 3d printing, i actually just got my own prusa :) i’ve been very curious to see how discs fly if they are printed in TPU? i’m a product design major and have been coming up with a few of my own “molds” (STL’s) and this video is just awesome in all the right ways :) i’d love to see latitude put out some of their molds as STL’s for players to mess with as well as maybe some vids messing with different print materials! much love and thanks for the always awesome content :)
Corkscrew is the name of the disc. Or Black Hole. Btw, Jonathan you are one of the best content creators in discgolf. For real! Always makes me laugh with the awkwardness and dad humor. =)
Thought about printing some discs but imagine first tree you hit your whole disc would explode into a million pieces. Also the “good night machine good luck” is on point for 3D printing.
It was sssssoooooo nice of Thomas to help you!!! Great video!! You always get me to laugh. When is the Fuse coming out with your drawn on happy face foil?? I will buy 1 million of them!! Wink wink!!
A long time ago I got my hands on a bunch of record albums that we went out and threw. The flight was similar. In other words useless. Not that the video was useless. I enjoy all of your videos and this one is no exception. On another note. I have thought a lot about the dimples on a golf ball and wondered if incorporating dimples on the disc would change the flight and how much. Back to the 3D printer I say!
Honestly. Make a batch, i'll buy one. I play at 2 extremely tree heavy courses where these sorts of turns would be useful to get out of bad situations.
Looks like an Anvil, specifically the hybrid Nikko's. The flight though..hmm... I'd call it the 'Corkscrew'. Maybe the 'Cow Hoof', because that beef stomps.
I did something similar a couple weeks back. I did not design the disc, but printed Thing 4057615 off of Thingiverse and it is the most overstable disc anyone in my disc golf club at my college has laid their hands on. It looks a little similar to a Tilt, but literally flips sideways into a roller after releasing it on flat within 100 ft. It is absolutely crazy and not really playable on the course. It is not for bagging, but bragging. Super cool that you guys made a video on the same kind of thing, it was entertaining as always to watch. Keep it up! It was also really cool how you explained how the shape directly influences the flight of the disc.
Lol 🤣 awesome as always. Just to confirm your strategy: I started DiscGolf in January and I only buy latitude and I only know your company because of your channel. So, well done :)
We have 3D printed a disc on a larger print bed, it was considered similar to the tilt. We printed it upside-down, and it required a little bit of trimming but was not bad. One issue with the disc was that it was so extremely light, it was actually hard to control and I completely understand why she threw it sideways, because a disc that light does not pull out of your fingers. I am curious what the end weight of your disc was? Ours was roughly 100 grams. We want to try it again but instead of PLA we will use ABS plastic for better durability, and probably paint it a neon color because a black disc is far to easy to lose (which we did, in southern Ohio).
This video is funny because there is no mention of the fact that there really is a PDGA approved, overstable, 3D printed disc. Iceberg TV did a review on it and its manufactured by NSH Custom Discs.
They need a designer or engineer in there to think "outside the box", even tho upside down isn't that outside the box. Hahaha. I flip them always whenever I 3D print my own molds.
Well the disc is real and we have the three designs. 8472, Borg, and Dwayne. Most overstable discs in the world. PDGA approved and 3d printed. Feel free to check them out and we don't mind collaborating anytime. NSH Custom Discs.
Any way you can share that .stl file?? I'd love to print this for laughs!. I have a couple printed discs that are just for fun and I'd love to add this to the collection.
I love your vids. I got to say that this disc should be called "Cranky". The catchphrase sould be "You're not old you're just overstable" Because like you said when you were making it you have to get close sometimes to see better.
