3D Text Effect in Photoshop CS6 & CC Tutorial 

What I did was click on the environment tab. Then I selected the IBL color box and reduced it by -1stop. Which gies you the grey back ground. I then set the intensity to 85% and the softness to 11%. You have to tweek these settings a bit to get the desired effect. That was the only thing I could see to do. I tried changing background color, text color, extrusion colors etc...None of it worked. The lighting was the only setting left. Try it for yourself until Arun gives us a more detailed explanation. Thanks Arun for the tutorial. It is an awesome effect.

Good Job Arun thanks for sharing with us.... i am using CS6, When i right click on the layer it doesn't show New 3D extrusion from selected layer... should i install any plugins it perform that...

This video was better than any other video that anyone made. And question how do you change the color of the text once you have it 3D, because it turns black once you put it into 3D.

Ey nice video man, very clear. However, i need help. I swear i followed all the directions but at the time of rendering, after it was done my whole text and background was grey and black. The letters could not be distinguished with the background. Any advice??

Thank you Arun for making this so easy, your step by step process helped me to understand how to make 3-D text, now I just need to do it with less letters lol its about 15 minutes in rendering.

quick comment section tutorial: if you want to do only the text, don't want the shadows/background, then follow the steps: 1- delete 'background' layer just right after typing out the text and positioning it with vertical and horizontal allignment 2- then do everything as he did, except there isn't a 'background' layer 3- when saving, instead of saving as a .jpeg (JPEG), save as PNG (.png) 4- enjoy

Everything works great until I get to the New 3D Extrusion step. You zoom in so I can't see what is all there but when I right click on the layer, I only get the left panel and even that is different. I am working with CS6 BTW. There is no right side panel with 'postcard and 3D extrusion. I know you posted this ages ago but is there any help you can provide? Thanks!

In this video what is your IBL set to. When i leave mine set to 100% I get a white background. The only thing I cannot see in your settings is the IBL. When I change the intensity it to 45% it does grey out, however, you do not appear to do that. Can you tell us the setting? When I render this i get completely white background and from the instructions in this video I am not getting the results that you are. Can you please give a little more detail. Thank you Arun.

Hi, very simple but effective, could you tell me if you alter the lighting in anyway to get the blown light shadow effect on the background. Having problems creating this on all my 3D text designs. It's the white halo effect on the shadow. Cheers if anyone can help, using photoshop cc.

i dont have 3d extrusion option in my photoshop cc,nor i cant find 3d option in menu bar after filter. what should i do ?

You should change the title of your video. "New 3D Extrusion" isn't available in CS6 standard.

Have tried a few of your tutorials, and on this one when I right clicked and selected both layers then went to ctrl E, my edit turned completely black! and yours didn't! I have gone back over many times doing everything you said, but I think you might be missing some instruction somewhere? It's very frustrating!
