Your models are amazing, i try to model in blender but i just get stuck at so many places due to so many problems, and i have no idea how to model interiors, i've only made 1 car and i've attempted 3 others but due to faults like refs not matching up and getting stuck on tricky parts of the car, im thinking of using Maya, since the renders look better, and the modelling looks easier to set up and use, i have around 2 weeks left until my 6 week holiday from school, so i'll try learning about maya then

@SebasDesign

@AtomicCraze
@AtomicCraze 6 лет назад
Was the car modeled from one single piece or did you use multiple pieces and merge them together?
@SebasDesign
@SebasDesign 6 лет назад
I used both methods you described. I noticed that working from one plane and extruding it to eventually separate gives me better surfaces and it's a bit more practical than alligning two separate pieces and try to match every vertex to line them up perfectly
@AtomicCraze
@AtomicCraze 6 лет назад
Another question, you seem to not be lining up your vertices for some panel areas e.g 7:40 on the edge of the piece you are currently working on, theres an edge that doesnt line up with sides of the car (middle edge) Would this be bad practice? as usually when i make the body of a car i make sure every vertex lines up so it can get quite hairy in some detailed areas
@SebasDesign
@SebasDesign 6 лет назад
Atomic I think I see what you mean, for that specific piece I didn't mind because it's not that visible cuz it's under the wing. Either way I always like to check as I model that both pieces line up when I smooth it so there are no gaps or weird surfaces.

@@SebasDesign Oh so you are taking this seriously? I want to go to college for 3d animation too but I might be taking a risk because here In Sweden there aren't a lot of jobs for 3d but in America and the Uk, there are tons of jobs there. Although I we have dice and rovio here in Sweden 😉

eric that’s exactly why hard surfacing modelling will get you by. Although Dice level modelling and topology expectation might kill the dream.

Hi. Although I'm sure some people like the "no epilepsy" thing, as someone who prefers to see every move I'd rather have the other version. I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it this way, I'm just saying that perhaps you may want to do some this way, and some the other way. You could also consider slowing the video down a bit, or even better, make a tutorial to show us how you do things. While I'm not bad at car modeling myself, I like your results and would like to see more, preferably a slower style epilepsy video or tutorial as mentioned before. Thanks.

well there are a couple of things to consider, one of them being the appeal of the video because yes I could upload an hour long video but some people wouldn't really stick around that much (I know I wouldn't) and that's why the 15 minute mark feels good enough. Another thing is that (I believe) people would be less interested in a longer video, also the upload time would be endless because my internet speed isn't that great to begin with. However I'm actually thinking, like you suggest, starting a new series of videos or tutorials that go a little deeper into detail and workflow... for now I think I'll stick to this kind of timelapses because I like them but I will try out other styles

Great! I look forward to those detailed videos. As for your concern about people being less interested, it may be true for some people, but I know there are some who like the longer videos. For example, I have two long videos, both of which have similar results. There are a good number of people willing to watch for long periods of time. Here's a look at the watch time of one of my videos imgur.com/U2wP6em (click on the image to zoom in and see the times better). Despite the video being only 2 hours long, there are people who watched even longer, which means they either re-watched some parts, or they slowed it down even further to see exactly what I was doing. Even if there may be fewer views, I know there will be people who appreciate being able to see how you do things. You're free to check out my videos to see if you like the longer style or not. I'd suggest the zenvo video since it's a bit more entertaining and faster speed. Upload time can be a problem, yes. But if you aren't already doing it, you should compress your video files first. This will make upload time much faster. To do this, I use a program called Handbrake. It's free and also allows you to remove the audio. Other than removing the audio, I just use the default settings. It works fine for me. Another option is to make your video in parts. For example you could upload the first half of the timelapse as part 1, and then make a part 2 with the rest of it. Although this isn't my preferred method, it's something to consider. Thanks for considering my suggestions. If you do happen to look at my videos or models, feel free to leave feedback to help me improve. Thanks.
