This is a narrated timelapse as I'm going through and re-topologizing a model. I will use different methods and approaches as I work out the topology flow.
Here is a suggestion. Turn off virtual and true symmetry. Work on one side of the model. You can work near the symmetry line. When done grab the edges near the symmetry line. Move them over the symmetry line. Turn on virtual symmetry then apply it. It will copy one side to the other and create perfect symmetry. This way avoids having to fix the symmetry several times as you work.
@@industrytuts5272 that and its mapping and packing are why i really got into it. but now that i have i really haven't gone back to zb and i feel like i can get more done in coat and do it faster. its an amazingly robust tool set.
@@marsmotion I plan on doing a video that breaks down each of the retopo tools in more detail. As well as another video using auto-retopology in the next or so.
@@industrytuts5272 that would be fantastic. do you know how to, once you've got a layout, how to move a uv shell one uv space over like for baking geo using the same texture space. so that you can get a shell off to the side so it wont mess with baking. i tried baking stacked shells in coat and got some errors from it so i thought id try what i do in blender and max just snap the shell outside the initial uv space but to the same texture space outside it. i hope you know what im failing to say easily lol. thanks.
@@marsmotion Have you tried to create an additional UV tile and place those in there during the baking, and then you can send them back to the original UV tile. This will ensure you don't accidentally move them as they will be in the exact same location. Let me know if you have any questions, and I can make a super quick video showing how to do that if you don't already know how. Hope that was helpful.
useful! really useful, espically the way you switch in-between tool in a second for particular part! also a great way to see the shape, divide it in clean part and resconstruct , help me a lot to put stuff in simpler part. thanks for the video keep on the good work!
So good to see these tutorials! Interested in moving from Blender + Zbrush to Blender + 3Dcoat and the biggest issue with 3Dcoat is the lack of good, up-to-date tutorials. Your channel is superb, hope you keep at it! Subscribed.
@@ipi223 I really like the split tool once I cut them I can export, import in blender, and use Goz there to directly send to zbrush then zremsher with hard edge detect. it's never been like this using zbrush alone, now all I want is a separate voxel software so it will be a bit cheaper :)
Nice video. Has there been any changes or additions to 3DCoats Retopo tools within the last 2 years, that was the last time I tried it. From memory I was wanting to have some modifiers on certain tools so as to not have to keep changing tools so often. Extrude, Nudge, smooth and slice with different key commands? I think border freezing was another feature I felt was needed.
@@industrytuts5272 Shame they dont break off part of the retopo toolset and workflow into a separate application as its quite expensive when you only need retopo tools and own Zbrush, but cudos to them for making a rent to own licencing, more should do this.
We have very creative designers! I never thought it would be possible to use the tool in this way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z4qMDkB7sj4.html
