This was a simple test to see if the stabilization on the GoPro 7 Black was able to compensate for flight and environmental characteristics (wind, recovery turbulence) when the GoPro was shooting in 4K at 60fps. The HyperSmooth option is not allowed when using 4K 60fps. Further stability can be had at FHD or lower resolution using GoPro’s HyperSmooth option. The wind ranged from 5-10mph throughout the day. The color is poor because I did not use Protune and subsequently color correct the footage, and it was a gloomy day.
The transmitter connects to the DJI race goggles just fine, but sadly the footage was too blury/fuzzy to provide the clarity I was looking for. When the GoPro was using stabilization the signal in the DJI goggles had ~1 second delay; there was no delay when stabilization was off.
For Flips and roles button A was set to Stabilize (for quick drone recovery) and button B was set to Acro. Sometimes the drone would flip when landing in GPS mode; use Stabilize mode to avoid this. Solex was used to upgrade the drone to Open Solo and program the buttons.

Wording from the slides in the video:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Purpose:
-Test GoPro 7 4K stabilization on the 3DR Solo
-Determine if the GoPro 7 will work for FPV
-Test out the DJI Race Goggles with the Solo
Results:
-GoPro 7 Black works with the 3DR Solo
-GoPro 7 4K 60fps stabilization works great
-GoPro stabilization causes a ~1 second delay
-DJI Race Goggles work with the Solo Tx
-Solo live stream is blurry on the DJI Goggles
Configuration:
-3DR Solo running Open Solo
-3DR Solo propellers, battery and fixed mount
-2x GoPro 7 Black running the latest firmware
4K 60fps, Wide, Auto Stabilization, Protune off
-Solex Android application
-DJI Race Goggles
3DR Solo using Open Solo:
-Significantly better than the stock software
-Transmitter still active after powering off
-Significant time required to connect TX & Solo
-GPS mode still flips on landing
-Loss of GPS lock causing flight mode change
GoPro 7 Black:
-Battery life is still short
-Camera still gets hot
-Issues with HDMI output
-Software & buttons completely lock up
-Android App flakes out and fails to connect
-Only basic stabilization at 4K 60fps
I am done using the 3DR Solo for aerial footage outside of tricks and tight shots where I may destroy a drone. Moving forward I will continue to use the 3DR Solo for flight training, demonstrations and R&D. I continually have to exercise patience with the 3DR Solo platform as I almost always want to smash it on the ground due to constant glitches and issues. Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. Proverbs 14:29
