Okay, here we are where we left off at part 1. We're going to continue with the eagle symbol by creating our own as an editable spline. I show you how to create an exact, and sometimes better object than what we imported as an SVG. Nothing against the Creator but we can see the details and we can go a little bit deeper and a little bit more accurate. We draw out the eagle using the create line function, dabble with the trim tool, duplicate and mirror, and then attached back into our object. We finish it off with a nice extrude modifier and check out what the render button does! Teapots forever! I know Maya thinks they're cool, but they don't have a teapot. But seriously, it's integral to your 3D Studio Max tool bag that you understand the base functions of splines, primitives, and compound objects.

You will need to convert those icons from an SVG into an AI (Adobe Illustrator 8.0) file. Make sure when you do a save as, you save it as that particular version of Adobe Illustrator otherwise it won't import. Yes it's stupid. Yes it's obnoxious. Yes that's how it works. And that's the only way it works. There might be other formats, I should really look into that.
Next time we're going to cover the base user interface of the software and go through the major functionality that's brought up by default.
