A user asked me on Reddit, why we want to use this one instead of the VRayCryptomatte render element that i made a tutorial days ago. A good question, and my answer was: This is simpler to set up if the only thing you want is to mask each object with a distinct color, no need to understand any parameters. Another advantage for VRayRenderID is that it relies on internal identifiers set by Max or Vray, and not the custom Node name the user gives. In CryptoMatte if two objects have the same name, and you're using the "Node name" option, they will get the same Matte color, this will never happen when using internal identifiers. VRayCryptomatte, of course, gives more ways to choose from when it comes to creating masks.
