okay but i love the idea that in third life, grian would just perch on scar's shoulder and theyd look super flipping menacing, then the familliar pose is used against scar again when he steps out of line

i'm actually speechless. this animatic is absolutely fucking incredible. i'm going to watch on loop for the rest of the day. holy shit. the transitions, the storytelling, the colors, everything here is absolutely beautiful. absolutely masterful work.

This animation is phenomenal. The focus on the colors or their eyes and how the background is a soft yellow when they’re together and happy but as they separate it becomes a darker red is just an amazing subtle metaphor. The moment of Grian being on top of scar in both third and last life showcases the difference of their relationship so well!! Scar lights the tnt in one world and in the other Grian holds a sword to his neck. Grian fighting Mumbo and it transitioning to Grian and scars final duel in third life is so heartbreaking and such a smooth transition!! The visual of Grian holding scars body right next to scar dying alone in last life is so visceral and the END. Dear lord. Grian looking up and seeing scar waiting for him on the mountain. It’s heartbreaking. I really like the moment at the start where scar has the sword and in his reflection his eyes are red and then he kills something. Showing how he’s red when he’s alone and yellow with Grian is so heartbreaking. This entire video is so smooth and illustrates their relationship so well!! I love how all the colors in third life are so much brighter. The red when Ren dies is so pure compared to the muted yellows of yellow snows death.

politely knocks on ur door on my 6th rewatch The.... the boxes. The way u used them in the begining to seperate each other and it starts in the 3L ending. The scene (LL selves) where they try to reach out to each other from different boxes but never being able to merge despite the mutual yearning... then ending with 100hc and them in the same frame together . Youre a goddamn genuis with ur use of framing as a device of their isolation from each other . i am deeply unwell. Also id just like to remark again that the ending sequence with yellow snow is an incredibly fantastic scene to show off grian and scar’s relationship in LL; its so .... charged with history and emotion there and using their eyes as framing devices for each other is so . head in hands. HAVE I REMARKED ABT THE USE OF BODY LANGUAGE AS WELL LIKE . god i can feel the anger and frustration and yearning from those stances and looks alone. Anyways just going to repeat everybody’s comment on how absolutely fantastic the choreography of that is and the transition to the final 3L fight? CHEFS KISS. done rambling i think. I am going back to rewatch this multiple times bc my god. this is truly phenomenal.

The 1:54 and 2:01 will forever live in my head. It just feels so calm but menacing with them moving to the soft beat of the music. Love it

The transition from their horse walking to galloping was absolutely stunning, and super clean! I loved the parallel of Grian riding Pizza, and then Scar riding the horse (who's name I totally forget)

Oh my god. You know, a lot of the time, nowadays that "Im sorry you're telling me this came out of some goofy MINECRAFT series???'' effect is something I've grown numb to. I was in the dsmp fandom when SAD-ist and the like began blowing up, and though I left that fandom swiftly when it came to canon content, still stuck around a while for just animatics and fan-created music. Similarly, I've been watching animatics and looking at art for many different fandoms, especially (non-dsmp) mcyt stuff, for quite a while now. So that effect has become rare for me, because I'm very well aware of the amazing things that can come out of these fandoms. And yet somehow, you have managed to create an animatic so good that I basically just got hit over the head with it. This is incredible. I'm going to rewatch it right now. Keep up the great work, this is going straight to my fave animatics playlist

BRO I LOVE THIS?? The part with Scar's red eye reflected in the sword, and him stealing yellow snow was so smooth, your posing throughout is phenomenal, and i love the composition of the boxes, and i just, i adore this sm

1:54 AHHHHHHH I LOVE THIS PART. THE WAY YOU SHOW THEIR RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO SEASON I LOVE!!!!

I've been so excited to see this since I learned it was being made, and WOW. Just WOW. You've mapped out their tragedy in such a poetic way, like even if somebody who didn't know the story saw this, they'd KNOW these two are closely intertwined together. Even the most simplistic of features, like their stares, mean so, so much when it comes to the other. And the colors! It's such a limited color palette but you used it to lay out the mood of each moment so well, only really coloring in the bits we need to focus on in detail. Gorgeous. But I HAVE to just applaud you for that entire segment at 2:52. I was so blown away by the fight choreography, and then the switch to the fight between Grian and Scar hit me right in my gut, that was expertly done. But that wasn't it, showing Scar recieve the blunt impact and then INSTANTLY transitioning it over to his death upon drowning was just. Oh my god that was masterful. Also that slight moment at 1:55 with the two of them and the TNT? Grain just simply holding it up to Scar and Scar lighting it? It's such a slight detail but it just represents what these two are all about. They make each other worse, but they're so connected together something going wrong is inevitable. I'm going to be rotating this in my mind now, WOW, did you do a beautiful job

This is SO COOL!!! My favorite part is definitely 1:54 - the scene with Grian perched on Scar's shoulders, holding the TNT while Scar lights the match, and then the scene with Grian perched on his shoulders again, this time holding a sword that he slowly digs into Scar's throat until Scar is forced to look up at him... gosh, this lit something feral in my heart. The ENTIRE thing lit something feral in my heart. Fuckign amazing!!!

I’ve been looking forward to this all day yesterday!! This was amazing and you really captured both Grian and Scar’s characters so well!! Scar’s loneliness!! Grian’s pain!! Also I absolutely LOST it over Grian perching on Scar’s shoulders because that’s one of my fav headcanons like ahdhdhfhsj Your art is lovely and masterful, and also SIAMES!! I love their songs too so this was a great surprise haha! Not to mention that a new season of 3L/LL is coming soon so I can’t wait for the new pain that Desert Duo will bring 👀😭

Wish i could explain my emotions through this animation, it's like griffing inside and crying and pain. There are scenes that are like a masterpiece with the music (plus the best choice of song). Its just fantastic and incredible. I loved this scene especially. 1:54 - 2:06

my jaw is on the floor in the best way possible…I’m a fan of your past works so I knew this was gonna be amazing but oh my god…this is SO UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!! if I had to pick an absolute favorite part (honestly, like all of this is a favorite part) it would be the seamless transition between Grian fighting Mumbo to Grian fighting Scar. IT WAS SO SO GOOD!

First things first I want you to know that I am completely normal about this masterpiece, yep! -I'm not!- AAAAH! The way you show the parallels between 3rd life and last life makes me scream! I especially like the parallels you showed between Pizza and YellowSnow and the way that it marked a shift into their relationship and dynamic from allies to enemies! And then when Scar took Ren's final life in 3rd life it transitions how in last life this action was reversed with Ren killing Scar and we get to see how Scar reacts to it! And of course the part where Grian is perched on Scar's shoulder holding the TNT which Scar lights up and showcases how their relationship worked in comparison to last life in which we once again see Grian perched on Scar's shoulder but this time with a sword digging into his neck! And also the transitions you used?! Absolutely genius! I especially liked the part where Grian's fighting Mumbo with a sword and it changes to fists and we see that he is back in Monopoly mountain fighting Scar! ASDFGHK Oh man there are just so many details and references that you included that I just can't put into words how much I love!!! AAAAH!!!

okay so, literally EVERYTHING about this animatic is a fucking masterpiece- from the visuals matching the songs lyrics, the transitions, the framing, the way everything draws your eye JUST right, but i have to specifically point out the way you drew and animated the wings in this is literally jawdropping?? especially considering you had two pairs to work with -his actual wings and the "ears"- its just fucking amazing, and they give so much movement and emotion to grian/the whole animatic

This deserves WAY more attention! It's literally one of the most beautifully told animations of 3rd/Last life I've ever seen!! It's so simple, yet visually stunning--the compositions, the expressions... this is a work of art. It reached into my soul and evoked raw, deep emotions that are honestly difficult to explain here. I love this duo and you illustrated their relationship and journey hauntingly. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this! Gosh... gonna be rewatching this for a while.

ive been watching this on loop for a solid hour i’m being so fr. this is genuinely one of the best animatics ive seen (not even just life series) and easily one of my absolute favorites. i literally want to do a scene by scene analysis because all of the choices just work SO well. and it all comes together into an absolute masterpiece of storytelling thats so perfectly suited to the medium its in. i’ve been rambling about it to my friends for most of the hour i’ve been watching

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE??! the way each series takes up one side of the screen initially, how it all connects, also BOTH TRANSITIONS WITH THE SUN ARE ASTONISHING AAA (and with pizza vs yellow snow) basically 👏👏👏

just realised comic panels are very consistent in placement in the animatic panels on the left means that they took place in 3rd life, and panels on the right are from Last life from 0:37 - 1:25 AND the iconic shots of 1:49-2:16, not to mention the intro and outro 0:18 - 0:28 so with that info, from that with shot 1:05 is even more tragic because 3rd life grians (character) been reaching out to a scar that hasn't existed, while LLScar(character) been reaching out the 3rd life grians he realised he missed so much. the negative spaces from the comic scenes really conveys the feeling of the other person feeling "lost" and missing their friend. and scene 0:51 its really hard to decipher when did this happen in 3rd life? but I think from my memory I thiink this is the scene where Scar betrayed Grian for the friendship pass, and wakes up in his emergency bunker. the only scenes that breaks this left and right rule is 2:32, but I am just assuming that's for framing/compositional purpose. and it's the scene where LLGrian realised LLScar cannot be fiddled like a violin. and at 3:29 where the ones with no colors, I think it's Scar 100 hours? dunno AND the scenes where the left and right are together is 1:05 where they can't seem to reach out and 3:13 where the interpertations is either both of them died a lonely death or Scar dying with his best friend vs dying alone, which yknow, could be both! and I realised that Grian wearing the glasses are consistently(?) from Last life. that transition from fighting mumbo to scar confused me, so I am not sure anymore lol very nice art! I love that we can make alot of artistic interpertations from the animatic, which funnily is an interpertation of an mc series, haha. and it's badass!

I am so very normal about this. Definitely not screaming. ALL THE PARALLELS!!! LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE PARALLELS, YOU CAN FIT SO MUCH ANGST IN THEM... Favorite part definitely has to be the parallel between Pizza and Yellow Snow, the change friends to enemies. Allies to adversaries... Ohhhhh..... This is incredible. The visuals are absolutely stunning, and I had found myself gasping many, many times while watching it.

Occasionally I think about this animatic because OH MY GOD it's breathtaking. There's so many shots that are just *chef's kiss* and that scene where it transitions from Grian and Mumbo to Scar? Amazing. That scene where Scar gets on the horse and gallops away, (which I think is a reference to him stealing Grian's horse)? Amazing. Awesome. I'll be thinking about this now for a while.

I’m so in love with this animatic!! I really love the whole style, it’s really pretty and clean, and the parallels are absolutely brilliant! I especially love the bit where it switches from Grian perching on Scar to light the tnt to him perching with the sword, it really just shows how things change between the seasons and makes all of the TL stuff more poignant. It’s just beautiful. Also I am now a little obsessed with this song.
