Thanks for going to the trouble to show us new users how all this wrapping works and give us confidence in new hobbies in our shed at home. Keeps us off the street at night.
Can you use put the knifeless tape on vinyl without damaging the vinyl? We are using 2 different vinyls and plane to use the knifeless tape for the seam.
Question. Is it possible to use the knife less tape to outline letters? TREK. Is want to use vinyl for the inside of the letters so need to use knifeless tape on the border of the letters. The letters are About 2” tall and have sharp 90 deg edges.
I have my hood already wrapped(orange)... I intend to put another layer of wrap on the hood (black)... would this tape not damage my hood already wrapped while installing the new one?
Fiat Focus I had the same issue. It is somewhat difficult with no finger nails an big hands...i did notice i only gave myself 3 inches extra. Next time ill make it 5 inches
Great video the only thing you failed to mention how too properly start pulling the filiment through the tape itself which was why I watched this video to begin with.
where can i buy knifeless tape ?!?!?! they dont have it at any of my local automotive parts store !? Any one know any place in NY ? i need it ASAP ! thank you !
YET ANOTHER VIDEO WERE THE GUY DOESN'T SHOW HOW TO RELEASE THE FILAMENT FROM THE TAPE. THIS IS THE 7TH VIDEO. STRAIGHT RIDICULOUS. THESE DUDES INCOMPETENT
Why in both demonstrations did you use different vinyl? Was this to give the demonstration of the correct method a better look? Would have liked to have seen the same vinyl used both times.
Does the knifeless tape work for 3M VS7704 film? We put the VS7704 film on airplane and cut it with knife. If the knife tape works, we will try it on airplane.
Hi there. How do you prime the edge for extra adhesion if your also using the knifeless tape to achieve smooth cuts? Can you use both or do you drop one? Regards, Peter
every knifeless tape demo I see shows them laying the tails of the tape on the underlying surface before it touches the vinyl. What if you need the vinyl to go right to the edge of the underlying surface? Starting the filament cut is much harder that way.
Maybe not pushing the tape down firmly enough so I has good adhesion to the panel. Also when getting it started only push down with your finger on a very small part of the doubled over tape. Only need to push on about 3mm of the tape.
Should have used white wrap also for the second test. The white film defines the cut edge with much more definition. And 'dont' test removed the inside section - the ''do' test - removed the outside section. Not what would be defined as good 'experiment' control and not exactly an 'apples-to-apples. But some excellent tips within the video - thanks. Have a nice day all. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.
great video , i will be using some KPMF Airrelease Vinyl and so im looking at wrapping a hood so i will be doing the techniques as a starting practise but my question is how do you use the knifeless tape on the edges of a hood and where would you say is the best place to run the knifeless tape ..many thanks
Hi Chris, I am adding some vinyl details to my hood, how tight of a corner radius can I do when laying down my design line knifeless tape? I'm adding two long shapes and one end of the shape comes to a point, but instead having it end sharp at the vertex, I figured it would be best to round the point off a bit to help with long term adhesion. Would I be able to get away with the tape laid down at a 1/4" (6mm) radius? I guess I'll practice a bit too, but if you can advise me on this ahead of time I'd be grateful, great video btw!
Yes, you can achieve a 6mm radius turn with Design line (not Finish line). Use very firm pressure with your finger as you lay the tape down and create the curve
