Today I begin reviewing my games from 3rd Cleveland Go Club Rating Tournament that was held on June 2nd.
My first round opponent was Garett Germany, who is a very strong 2 kyu, who I played in the 1st round of the last tournament as well. Last tournament I gave him 5 stones and won, but this time around I had to give him 6 stones. This was one of the toughest games I've played in a while, so lets see if I am able overcome some nasty positions.

That is an interesting thought. Why do you think that?

@@TheOhioGoSchool i know go isn’t chess but, there are not any 2 games with as many players as many books as many tournaments you should play in a chess tournament just to see how they do it in a chess tournament, they line the players up by rating and the top half plays the bottom half so, if there’s 20 players #1 would play #11 #2 would play #12 etc so, the top rated player plays the 11th rated player no handicap when you spot someone 6 stones you are cheating him out of a learning opportunity they don’t learn the opening a 1 stone handicap is a much better way to learn i don’t want to learn how to play a 6 stone handicap i want to learn how to play an even game go players are obsessed with the idea of fairness they want to give the weaker player a chance but, in the long run, it cheats them

let’s put it this way if you had a chance to play a pro 1 on 1 which would you prefer? a 6 stone handicap, where you have a chance to win or an even game, where you have a chance to learn?

@@johnvoelker4345 Well in that case obviously lesser handicap is better, but this is a tournament
