Appreciate your opinion. I do plenty of highway driving and wonder how the Tacoma handles. I’ve heard many complaints about constant downshifting with Tacoma. I have 14 months to go on my leased Silverado and will be buying and those are on top of my list! T Y!!
I have a 5th gen 4runner and my brother has a 3rd gen taco. I like the 4runner way more. Something about the seating position of the taco throws me off. My 4runner seems more smooth compared to his taco and I like the styling of the 4runner more.
The 4Runner is made in Japan, has a full boxed frame, no carrier bearing on driveshaft, better engine air filter, better seats, a better cab in the a pillar area. With KDSS there isn’t brake dive, nor is there body roll.
Hey man I’m about to buy a 17 taco soon! Where is the video on the led lighting you did inside the truck? I’m talking about the blue lighting for the interior! I want to know where you bought that and how to install it! Great vids and I’m a subscriber now!
Awesome! It's been such a great truck! Here are two videos on that, the first is the installation and the second is a different way to hook up the lights! I bought them from advance auto and it's a pretty easy install! Thanks for the support! Which trim do you plan on going with?? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-muYYefdGh9M.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uh14L-7pyP0.html
Bros FOURR Speed thanks for the link and info man I appreciate it! I’m going with the 2017 off road 4x4 trim in the Orange (inferno) colorway. And what’s funny is, I’m trading in my 2016 4Runner sr5 premium for it! lol I saw your video comparing the too and you hit all good points but honestly, I do a lot of outdoor sports like mountain bike riding, hitting beaches, hiking, etc and I just want and many times need a truck with a truck bed. I think both are great trucks! I love your mods and will be doing a few myself! Good news is I bought the do aps for my Toyota and I hear they will fit in the taco too so I’m happy about that because those speakers were expensive! I want to either paint or dip or wrap those chrome bumpers in the rear too!
@@LeBoosLeisure Very cool! We never thought to compare the two since a lot of people cross shop them, but whichever works best! I plastidipped by rear bumper and it held up well for the 1.5 years it was like that before switching out bumpers. Very cheap and inexpensive way to give it a great look!
The 4Runner with KDSS does not have body roll. I traded my 2019 Tacoma for a 2021 4Runner. The 3.5 gets old to drive. The 4.0 is absolutely better. The 4Runner is very much better built and engineered. Full boxed frame, more comfortable cabin, seats better, windshield wiper heat, nicer interior door cards, bigger sunroof, greasable front and rear driveshafts, no carrier bearing, more oil capacity, better engine air filtration, and the best part made in Japan. We have a 2020 TRD, and my 2021 TRD, with KDSS and led headlights and fog lights. The 4Runner is very much an upgrade from a Tacoma.
I love the 4runners, but I would disagree on a few things. Tacoma still has greasable driveshafts, they both have carrier bearings, and the oil capacity would be different with a different engine. They are both great trucks for what your needs are for! I'd take a Toyota any day!
I'm so torn because I want the 4runner for overlanding and would like to sleep in the cabin rather than in a rooftop tent or in the bed but I also would like a pickup for hauling and work. Plus imo the taco looks a little better but my needs are intertwined
Love my 2018 trd off road premium 4runner. I daily it and have the 370 nismo and r35 gtr for weekend fun. 4runner still gets trail use sometimes on the weekend also.
I just put a deposit down for a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro. Really hard choice between that and a Taco TRD Pro. Both are outstanding and can’t go wrong with either! BTW, I’m coming from a 2014 Ram 1500 4x4. The 4Runner has more room, closer to what my Ram has inside than the Taco. Whatever, came down to flipping a coin. Lol
I have a 2012 4runner and a 2017 Tacoma offroad , to be honest the 4runner is a smoother ride but they are 2 completely different vehicles with different uses,,both are great offroad
At 11:42, Mike you are too funny, I was so done 😄. The entire vid was everything 👌. I love the exterior color of the 4Runner as well as what I think is the skid plate on the lower bumper.
Thanks guys. It was good to see that comparison. I would consider both when it’s time to give up the FJ. I’m leaning towards the 4Runner but you’re right, the gas mileage isn’t too great and it is due an update. Big thumbs up to you guys for helping the stranded motorist! 👍
4runner is more similar to the FJ than the Tacoma. Plus like the FJ it's made in Japan unlike the Tacoma which is made in Mexico. Also I'm general you want to buy cars that are "due for an update" it means all the kinks are worked out and they have a proven track record.
This is only me assuming but it looks like your dad maybe built his 4 Runner or was extremely lucky to find that color because its very rare. I actually love that color! It would be more beautiful fully detailed sitting in the sunlight. Another enjoyable video with Maddie😁
Close lol. When he bought it, it was the only blue one with the premium package available. It wasn't even on the lot yet. We were at the Toyota dealer and it was chillin in the way back of the lot. It matched his 07, so he bought it! Glad to have Maddie in the vid!
Bros FOURR Speed they are, however I truly felt like the Z was out dated. And having the water pump in the engine was a deal breaker although the engines are built pretty solid. Can’t really compare apples to oranges though lol
Bros FOURR Speed haha yeah I saw the video, you guys had some good plans for that 350, I suggested you guys picking up a damaged one and fixing it up not sure which one of you guys read it lol. It’d be a cool project for the channel!
Misleading video title. Good video although would be a better video if you did at least the off road 4runner which most 4runner enthusiasts get over the taco, as it's most comparable to your modified taco. They are considerably different. Way more room in the 4runner. As for fuel economy it's crap bc it's an off-road vehicle. You have to understand what you buying. Hence sport car buddy he knows it's not for him. So if you get one for what it's meant for off-road it's 4runner all day. But great taste. Do more homework. And the 5th gen has much more to offer and people buy it for the "dated" transmission bc it's bullet proof.
Aside from the trim level differences, it's just comparing the two, since we own both. I think they are both great for whichever one works best for your needs. Both are great for offroad and it'd be cool to have a lifted 4runner to compare!
I'm shopping/comparing 3rd Gen Taco to 4Run, 2016-20xx. Thry're Not the same, I don't know why Toto doesn't... but the Tacoma 3.5L v6 282Hp, 6speed transmission, mpg 19/24. The 4Runner 4.0L v6 270Hp 5speed transmission, mpg 16/19 Both Rear-Wheel Drive, the 4runner is one of the last (near true) SUVs. I'm gonna have to go w/the Tacoma though, extra Hp & better mpg
The engines are different yes, but a lot of people cross shop these two. Just depends if you need/want the room behind the rear seats in the 4runner or the open bed for larger items! Can't go wrong with either Toyota, they are great!
