I did it thanks to you and it makes a HUGE difference. I’m not a fan of tinny, piercing highs so these plug-and-play tweeters were perfect for my audiophile ears. I was confident doing the job because of this video.
This is still wildly helpful in the year 2022. Thanks for posting. I went with the same setup and a Zinger Heigh 10 head unit and even without amplification it sounds 10x better. Thanks!
Great video, followed your instructions and got it knocked out in 15 mins over my lunch break thanks yo your video. The sound difference is amazing, very happy!
speakerwatchedyourunnecessary so I called and told the rep this is not what I needed and after several more conversations and noticing from your drop down guide the tweeter needed I convinced the rep to watch your video. They still have no clue and or don't have this part in stock so I have to take the door panels off, take the speakers out and send their kit back and start all over. ANYWAY all that said to say again whoever discovered this works is GENIUS !!!!!!!!!!
Your video helps a lot. Only thing is you called the A-pillar an A-frame. Not trying to be a jerk but trying to help. Thanks for your help I will now try to tackle my speakers.
Thx for the great video. I will tackle anything but not without a little research. I followed your suggestions and I got my tweeters from Amazon. Watching your video before the installation was perfect. I actually did not disconnect the battery but I can see why you did especially working around airbag devices. I do have a few suggestions that made it easier for my installation. One, I used an offset 10 mm wrench for the inside tweeter bolt which was much faster to complete. And two, I used a pair of hemostats to hold the wire harness while I disconnected and connected the clip. (I would not have done that without your suggestion, and you wouldn't want to lose that in such a difficult location). It took me about 20 minutes tops. Thx for all the info. The tweeter change alone made a nice difference alone in the sound. Did your other speaker install really make a huge difference? I heard without adding more power to the head unit, or installing a kicker sub, it is not worth it. (insulating the doors as well for speakers????? LMK
Hey Paul! Appreciate the positive feedback. If you are looking more volume you may want to add an amp. I just did all speakers and tweeters and it cleaned up the sound quality big time. The volume for me is loud enough. Anymore questions let me know thanks for watching!
Thanks again for the inspiration, I ordered the exact set up you but also included a small Alpine amp, everything should be here by tomorrow. You're video's are well made and easy to follow along, thanks again!
No problem Jimbo! I appreciate the positive feedback! I would like to do an amp video too but I have to investigate how first. Let me know how it goes for you! Thanks for checking out my channel!
@@GarageGear Will do, I'm getting a small 4 channel Alpine. Nothing crazy, I'm not a big bass guy, just wanted a little extra umphh to the mids and highs. I'll let you know how it goes!
Question: What fender flares are on your truck? I have a 2023 Taco SR access cab that didn't come with OEM fender flares. I understand that by not having the OEM flares that not all mounting bolts/hardware are there in order to mount aftermarket flares. Thanks.
FINAL EDIT: IF ONE"S BUDGET IS ONLY $100, this IS the super-buck-bang tweeeeak. AFTER 48 hours of testing on my '21 Taco, try moving the fader to front from rear just one notch and the STOCK door woofers turn into $120 brand set ups. In fact now you are in the "wall of sound" instead of it being behind the dash, lol. The whole interior was softly vibrating! It really feels like the musicians are inside the truck. The fact that this Kicker tweeter turns the whole stock system better from bass to mids and highs. With percussion snare and hi-hat enhancement the bass is fantastic! No snare- no beat ! Vocals are much better. Guitar, strings, piano upper midranges are way improved! All music genres are perfected. This product turns the stock system into JBL or better for a hun dog. Plug and Play! I did both tweeters in 15 minutes.
@@GarageGear Thank you for your cool vid! I had to lower the treble, seems like the speakers hog the juice a bit. The difference with the swap is like not having a bunch of ear wax muddle the instruments.
Flint Layfield I am very happy with this purchase! I looked into pioneer too but it involved too much wiring especially on the tweeters. Plug and play was the way to go!
When you said you wondered if they installed the tweeters before the windshield...yes and no. The entire dash is assembled separate from the truck and then installed as a complete unit.
Jason DeVos hud Jason! For many months last year, after I purchased my 2019, I found that amazon hadn’t updated their product listings with the current year/model. Double check fittings on Crutchfield just to be sure
I was doing a speaker upgrade in my Taco, and although it sounded better, you can tell the stock head unit wasn't able to challenge them at more amps. Pioneer 6x9 component's in the front, Rockford Fosgate component 6.5's in the back. After being impressed by the quality, not the power, I decided to upgrade the Head Unit and get the factory Panasonic unit out of there. Went with the high power (45 Watt RMA) Sony XAV-AX7000. Now its proper
Great video - this’ll be one of the first things I do. Question kind off topic of the post - know how to remove the back headrests? I have same access cab but no clue how to get the back seat cover off.
Walter thanks for watching! Super easy install and worth the investment! As far as getting the back seat covers off, sorry can’t help you there. Haven’t tried to do that so I don’t have a clue. Thanks for checking out my channel!
You can take out the stock tweets and gut them out and put in any tweeter you want for less then 30 bucks and are better then the kicker I used old school mb quart Germany made and sound so much better the tweeter and the 6x9 are wired in series by factory that is no bueno and cuts the power in half u are better getting a passive crossover
If you go on crutchfield.com and type in your exact model it will show you the exact sizes you need for each. Thanks for checking out my channel Angel!
I would be believe so yes but to be sure you can contact crutchfield.com and double check before you get started! Thanks for checking out my channel John!
You definitely want to takeoff the coverof a frame first I tried it and broke one of the mounting tabs on the speaker grill and it’s easy enough to do why not just do it
@@tjbreese630 I double checked the wiring harness and it’s saying that my own link will not fit my 2019 Tacoma. Seems weird because those are the ones I used! You can go on crutchfield.com and double check the product numbers to find a match. Let me know how this works for you.
I think it can be done but it’s a lot harder! You’re better off removing the pillar. It’s not hard to do. If you skip the pillar I believe your have trouble putting the cover back on. Thanks for checking out my channel!
Holy shit!!Best 100 bucks I spent on my tacoma so far. I just installed these tweeters on my 2021 tacoma and it makes a HUGE difference. Do you think the door speakers are worth it also? Great install video. Just subscribed!
Awesome! They do make a huge difference! I would definitely recommend installing new door speakers! You’ll be blown away with the improved sound quality. The stock speakers are garbage. Let me know if you put the new ones in and how they sound Wes! Thanks for checking out my channel!
I installed the whole set of speakers and tweeters. The exact same model. And it sound really bad. I was wondering if you guys noticed the same and if any of you had to install and amplifier. In my opinion sound is very distorted
Hey man! So I did a ton of research and it seems like you need the Entune Premium Headunit for the speakers to properly work. If you only have Entune (base) or Entune Plus , you would need in addition an amp to adequately feed the speakers. Not sure if this is your problem, but this could be the reason why the same speaker setup does not sound good in your circumstance
Whitie in Vermont I bet you could do this in your vehicle bud! What kind of vehicle do you drive? Usually tweeters are just a couple of screws. Panels can be a pain in some vehicles.
@@GarageGear I drive a 2010 Subaru Legacy. I've owned it for around 7 years now and I've always wanted to put in my Sirius XM satellite receiver but I don't have the ability to add it without taking the dash apart and part of the center console. I don't have a audio input in the front of my factory radio. Plus I need to put a wire harness to replace my factory stereo with something new. I have the harness but after researching it I was overwhelmed and said screw it. I'm to cheap to pay someone $200 to do the installation on top of paying for the equipment. I have a lifetime subscription to Sirius and I can install three times in a lifetime before my lifetime is null and void.
Whitie in Vermont I hear ya bud! Some vehicles are more complicated than others. I know I’m keeping this truck for a while so I figured this would be good to do now! Did you ever search out RU-vid videos on the install?
@@GarageGear I did research years ago. Maybe I'll do another search. I don't know how much longer I'll have my 10 year old vehicle. I was surprised that I've had it this long. Maybe I should just pull the trigger and do it. I'm sure that there's a lot more videos on how to do it now on RU-vid.
