Variety is good. And I didn’t even notice until I had watched my video back that each prompt also specifies for “fiction”, “non-fiction,” or either which makes even more sense.
We do the 100 books for $100 too every school year. He really loves is in third grade as well. It really does work. He has read over 100 every year since his first grade school year.
That’s awesome!!! So for 3rd grade, how do you balance chapter books vs pic books? I was trying to figure out how to let her also do picture books. I was thinking 10 picture books could = a chapter book. Or just say 40 chapter books and 60 picture books?? Any ideas?
He chooses the books he wants to read. I take him to the library each week. Its always a mix of chapter books, fiction picture books, non fiction books, graphic novels, and national geographic kids. He goes through phases where he only wants to read about minecraft. He went though a phase where he only wanted to read non fiction panda books. Around Christmas he likes to read winter books. I find he reads a lot more if I let him pick the books. I suggest books for him and sometimes they are a hit (a wolf called wander) and sometimes he says they are boring (pax). The books are always a suggestion and never forced.
Oh no! I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any more curriculum or resources for the rest of the year, but that reading journal is calling my name! It looks amazing!
Thanks for the flip through on the reading journal. I can't wait to use it. I was about to purchase the EvanMore literature daily work book for my young elementary kids when I came to the realization that it would be waaay to much too soon and would probably backfire on us. I will use your link, thanks for sharing!
Sounds awesome! I really need to check out the dart guides, would be an awesome why to end out of the school year! We need 180 days in GA and using TGTB level 3 so that would add to it ♥️
Well I said….you could decide if it would still be good for ages outside that suggested grade level. You could always have them expound what they write there on a separate piece of paper. There are a lot of great prompts there!
Has anybody else done any brave writer book guides??? What did you love about them? For a closer look of Singapore math, check out my math comparison of Singapore vs Saxon vs Teaching textbooks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3BxGyJ0wdc.html
I prefer Singapore. TT didn’t work for us (it’s my most popular video 😉) my daughter has ADHD and so I’m coming to the conclusion that she needs a physical person teaching her. Me. We are currently using Singapore though. I’m actually trying out “Learn Math Fast” with her right now.
thx for the useful content. does anyone know where I can download or get a copy of the old version of language arts level 2. I don't care as much for the new version and juuuuust missed downloading the old version. I contacted TGATB and they don't provide any help for older products
