Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I currently have a reolink NVR but I'm thinking about returning it and going with Blue Iris instead.

Thanks for this video, but I would like to know if you can use motion detection connecting that Amcrest camera on that Reolink NVR?

Thanks for posting this. I bought my Reolink 2-camera system 2 months ago. My system doesn’t have the IP Cameras tab and the Scan button you show. That’s your NVR, not the client, right? I even updated my firmware yesterday. How old is your system. What model NVR? I’m trying to do what you’ve done, but with an Annke C800 camera. When plugged into router or POE switch, I can see the Annke live on the PC at its IP address. But nothing about it on my NVR. Any suggestion?

Reolink NVR has a built in switch and its own network. Cameras sit behind and are NAT-ed just as if you put them behind a router.

Great video. Managed to add some ONVIF HKvision cameras and it shows a preview status on the config screen but Video. Tired the reboot but no luck. Any suggestions?

HI me and my Bf are tying to hook up a 3rd party camera to our reolink NVR since we already know the IP to the camera do we still need a laptop computer to do this? Helps us if you can thanks.

I’m trying to connect Annke AC800 cameras to the Reolink RLN8-410 but despite having onvif enabled when I try to pair with the Reolink NVR I get a connection timed out error. I can log into the settings of the cameras when creating a local network on the NVR via connected laptop and have changed it to a static ip in the range of the reolink NVR but still nothing. If you help with configuration please I’d appreciate it. TIA

Can I access the ONVIF stream of a camera directly connected to the NVR? I can access each RTSP stream via the different channels, but ONVIF?

If you have reolink nvr it should just plug into that. This is the POE switch I've had a few years now www.amazon.com/dp/B075FZQX14?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I can see the third part camera live image on the NVR but not live on the app. The playback works though.

If you open that camera on the app and change the resolution, does it show up?

@@dano3345 Although it is an ONVIF camera the NVR (or APP) cannot control any of its settings. It is only a 720P camera and I have tried to reduce the resolution directly with its built in web interface but that did not help either. I will play around a bit more and will post here if I have found a solution. Thanks for responding.
@dano3345
@dano3345 3 года назад
Correct, technically reolink says they don't support ONVIF cameras which is true to an extent. You won't be able to control features of those cameras, they have to be managed in their own settings. I can't recall if I saw them in the web interface but I know they work in my app and directly connected to my nvr

Can you please provide a bit more info as to your wiring config for the novice? Does NVR + Camera both plug into POE switch? Trying to see details but cannot and have the exact same situation (reolink nvr + amcrest ptz camera).
@dano3345
@dano3345 3 года назад
Actually, no. The NVR and poe switch will need to be on the same network. The NVR connects to the router and so did the poe switch. The reolink NVR would then be able to look for any devices on the network (assuming they're on the same) and you should be good to go

@@dano3345 Sorry for the additional question: Reolink NVR & POE switch are now in router on same network. Amcrest cam is plugged into POE switch. Reolink NVR recognizes Amcrest cam however under Status it shows Connect Fail. I've rebooted everything but no dice. Any words of wisdom for the novice would be greatly appreciated.
@dano3345
@dano3345 3 года назад
Basic question but I have to ask. Are you 100% positive you're adding the correct user name and password into the reolink NVR? Once you can confirm they're correct, you simply should only need to reboot the Amcrest camera.
@stephenspear6873
@stephenspear6873 3 года назад
@@dano3345 Yes sir. User name for NVR and camera are same. Password for NVR and camera are the same. It sees my IP address and even changed it when I rebooted the camera/changed ports on POE switch. Would it have anything to do with the fact my Amcrest is a PTZ? If I had a way to get you my contact info privately, happy to chat.

@@stephenspear6873 the last thing I would try to do is mimick the display settings from the reolink cameras to the amcrest ones. I mean if reolink is at 15 fps and a particular resolution and bit rate, log into amcrest camera and copy it over for both main and sub stream. Then give it another reboot

@funkypotamus
@funkypotamus 2 года назад
@@intech7863 I sent back the reolink stuff which I was hugely disappointed with. Their marketing is complete wank and is basically a pack of lies. They'll give you good still images at night but as soon as there is any movement - even really slow - it's all blur and ghosting. I did heaps of research and there is no way to solve this. It's just an issue with cheap hardware. In fairness to reolink, they gave me back all my money with no nonsense as soon as they received the return package. Of course I lost about 40 or 50 euro in postage costs which they didn't refund me. I replaced the cameras with dahua 5442 units and a dahua nvr. I cannot believe the difference in quality. With this Pro level gear you have complete control of every parameter and it makes all the difference. The sensors in the dahua cameras are way bigger, much more sensitive and much better quality in general. That said, they are a lot more expensive. But absolutely worth it.

It must be said that the reolink UI is better than the dahua but the dahua is totally usable once you spend a bit of time with it.
