Hey, I'm back with a video about my race for 3rd place at Ironman Vitoria-Gasteiz. It was my first Ironman pro series race and it was great to be back on an ironman start line after a year of injury!
So good to see you back racing and on the podium! Super well done, all your hard work and resilience paid off. Was shouting support at the screen in the latter stages of the run and a bit emotional to see you finish. You’re a super star ⭐️
Well done Ruth! Bravo! Smart bike tactics to avoid a penalty. IM officials seem to be on a tear about that these days, Jerks! Lake Placid? Better get your English Arse here for a great IM and tough Ironman! But alot of fun, afterwords, a proper slice. Kudos to your Nice Qualification. Cheers and Bring the noise.
Congrats Ruth, so pleased for you, what an incredible first race back. Unbelievable resilience to power through after everything you’ve been through and such little run mileage. Excited for the Nice videos ❤
Great job! The commentators were very concerned with you fiddling with the sock....I knew you would do great! Those mentally dark places suck, but you understood the assignment 💯
WELL DONE!!! I was SO happy to see you complete the race and secure the Nice spot. An amazing achievement after all your injury travails. And thank you for taking the time to give us an immediate ‘aftermath’ comment on the race. I feel so privileged to be able to hear these detailed and honest insights from a world class triathlete of your calibre. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
A fantastic gutsy performance - and hopefully a big confidence boost too. Massive well done. Also you and Kat M are a great advert for the sport with such brilliant camaraderie during the race 🤩.
CONGRATULATIONS👏, I've been following you and kept checking on you through out the day!! So happy for you but damn those "blisters" looked more like big patches of raw meat, healup👍
Big congrats Ruth! Podium, kona slot and new blister record 😂. Enjoyed you sharing the self talk going on in your head. Funny how the mind works when u r in those dark spots!
Super congrats :-D !! - turned into the RU-vid race to solely follow you (and second a couple of others pro's) - thou the coverage was a bit spotty, men/ women / race leader / the contenders just behind - and very poor ranking graphic - it was still a beautiful coverage. So Podium is no sweat now! And your feet knows it ;-) - ps blisters, used to get them - a lot. Then by aksident bought and used a super cheap supermarket thin running socks - made of > 90% polyamide (nylon) . and app 10%elestan (think the last part was the the elastic band at the ankle, (not like a polyamid/ elestan blend fabric) - and wouldn't you know it no more blisters, not a single one since !! - seems that the polyamid fibers somehow are really well at sucking even the tiniest bit of moist and transport it fast, and somehow are a bit more non friction to the "foot skin" .... - thanks for the race rapport :-)
Well done on the race and Qualifying for nice, absolutely brilliant that all the hard work with the rehabs paying off. On another note I keep subscribing to the channel then a couple of days later it unsubscribes me, not sure why
Congrats Ruth, so happy for you! Out of interest, did you ever work out the reason for the blisters? Shoes, socks or just too much running?! I’ve always been quite lucky with blisters but have suffered with toe nail problems instead. Congrats again, great to see you back up there.
It’s the shoes I’m pretty sure - have spoken to a few people who have had the same issue with those shoes but not had in others. Back to adidas for me!
super happy for you , these blisters look bad, felt the pain myself. pls pls pls pls be sensible till nice, take care and train sensibly. and no placid for you. leave b2b racing for viser.
Congratulations, I hope you gets the sense of all the support you have. It was great watching “online “ super pleased for you. It did look like your left shoe kept slipping out under your foot. Was this just tv or is that a carbon shoe issue?
I think my running mechanics from 10km in was very affected by how sore my feet were! So probably more of a blister issue. However I do tend to naturally over pronate in shoes to higher stack can accentuate that
@@Reastle1 thanks for the reply, that's interesting. Not that I'm in need of carbon shoes for my plod. Again great to see you back racing and hitting the goals plus. I take it as you alluded to, Lake Placid isn't the next outting?
So happy for you, Ruth! Way to tough it out, podium and get your Nice slot! If you make it to IMLP I will be cheering for you in person as you come outta the water...and might get to peel your HUUB, lol! 😁 (volunteering this year!) God bless your journey, Megan🙏 ps. Do you have trouble getting the zipper started up on your wetsuit? That's the only part of my HUUB that I dislike, otherwise it's fantastic!!
@@Reastle1 yeah, me too..but the other morning before my race the first tooth would NOT slide in. Took me a half hour to get it going and was almost late for my race, ugh! Thank you!!
@@Reastle1 I just heard back from Daniel at HUUB (their customer service is fabulous) and he suggested applying a little bit of soap and the first tooth slipped right in for me! Great suggestion :D
Amazing performance after those injuries! Congratulations!!! Do you know where these blisters come out even using socks? I hope you get well soon asap!
