It really was a novel concept and that particular cast had the best 90's bubble gum humor together. Lithgow's theatre years shined through his performance like a blaze of glory. One of the best forgotten gems of mid 90's cable television.
@@google12greekmythsthatprove. absolutely just this show hilarious ,that one like cute funny with reflective overtones 3rd Rick i i had to consider canceling a hot date cause because it was at same time but great call on casting but that how far back u had to go to match up casts greetings from Texans
A total jewel of a comedy. Man, throw me in a time machine, with a few snacks, my old couch, even throw in a rotary phone and I’m back where comedy was insanely funny with this show!
I loved Lithgow and Shatner making a reference to seeing something on the wing of the plane. They played the same character in Twilight Zone and Twilight Zone: The Movie.
The material on this show really makes its mark. These are aliens learning about earthlings. They're trying to fit in. So when they try to mimic humans and make mistakes its adorable. They're almost child like. And it brings back the humans (us, the audience) to maybe appreciate ourselves and rethink how we treat people. Thank you for this wonderful show that I feel is very under rated.👋👍
Yeah we have all seen the show. We know the basic premise. It's like an updated version of My favorite Martian. And a not so funny version of Mork and Mindy. Lithgow is no Robin Williams. And Kirsten is no Pam Dawber. Yummers
@@slarkel506 - Like KNOCK IT OFF, you religious fanatical fool! Such a comment like yours have proven it time and again! Just keep your religious expression in your pitiful mind!
MAS this was laugh out loud funny nowadays they just go for grins ,smirks small things I wish a rerun of a skit or two would be done by nowadays actors this was an immediate classic show
They curse constantly. Blasphemy is Dick's main utterance. "OMG" (something or other) means he takes the Lord's name in vain in every single episode. That's the definition of cursing.
Pure class. The whole cast were brilliant. Got the box set and watch it regularly. Made me laugh when it was out, still makes me laugh now. John stands out as a genius actor supported by a stellar cast. A must watch.

I love how flamboyant the characters are. John litgow is a genius, such a talented man!! Kristen Johnson is such a hottie, so masculine but also so feminine
This and that 70s show was one of my favorite shows, being a kid in the 90s was amazing! I miss those days.. peoples sense of humor wit common sense intelligence warmth happiness connection all went down hill since smartphones computers and AI took over.
This was on Netflix awhile back and it lit up my dad when he found out. Every Saturday we would have take out and put it on, then go into uncontrollable laughing fits, especially my dad. He even got teary eyed when we watched the last episode. I keep hoping that Netflix will put it back on. Edit: I bought the complete series for my dad for Father's Day and we're enjoying the hell out of it.
I discovered this show on Netflix and I'm watching out again on TubiTV because Amazon Prime Video doesn't work on my phone. I also tend to enjoy TV shows from before my time, so I found it very reminiscent of Mork and Mindy.
@@JCBug555 I just started rewatching "Little House on the Prarie" on imdb. havent seen it since I was a little kid. Also..."Malcolm in the Middle" from 2000 is one of the greatest
One of the funniest shows I ever watched. Brilliant writing and acting. One of my younger coworkers discovered 3rd Rock online but he didn't catch the first episode so he didn't realize the premise of a family of aliens in human bodies. His first impression was that family were all insane until he learned the true premise. Then he watched the entire series.
I watched the show with my family when it came oit and we all thought they were insane. Only rewatched it recently from the beginning. I imagine this might be why some people were put off by it or didnt get the humor.
I used to watch this show all the time and it’s really one of the most underrated shows. The writing is amazing and goofy yet brilliant. John Lithgow is a legend; he can do 3rd Rock from the Sun AS well as THE BEST Winston Churchill (The Crown).
John Lithgow is an incredible actor with quite an impressive range, from some of the worst villains ever to appear on screen, to the goofiest, funniest comedic actor ever!
Watching Kristen Johnson take on the role of Dick and copy Lithgow's mannerisms so well demonstrates what a great actress she truly is. Her "I'm gorgeous!" is easily the best version of it.
John Cleese guest starred on this show to play a counterpart to Dick. Professor Liam Neesam, who turned out to also be an alien. Not necessarily Dick's species, that wasn't mentioned.
Boy oh boy oh boy...am I a happy camper! This is one of my favorite comedies, I watch reruns every Sunday morning, NOW I can watch it WHENEVER! Much THANKS for loading 😍
God I love this show so freaking funny it's a shame it's off the air I love this show so much John is awesome and so funny everyone on this show is beyond funny love and miss it
Dick is my all time favourite character. I wish I could be a 1/4th as blunt as him sometimes, just makes me LOL even this many years later. Grew up with this show.
How awesome would it have been if, back in day, they would've had Robin Williams on as a surprise guest and have him star as his Mork from Ork character. Imagine a scene with him and John Lithgow just letting loose and improvising in their crazy 'alien' antics. It would've also been a nice 'World According to Garp' reunion between the two actors.
@@deafmusician2 - Well, I DON'T like "3rd Rock from the Sun" because it had NO insights on the background of the alien Solomons, but instead, it was slapstick comedy for the sake of slapstick comedy at all!
I used to be in school during this time. How time flies. I missed my late mom. She always scolded me for not doing my school work just because to watch this. Sorry mom. Miss u much 😔
@@anacarvalho5355 ... thank you....yeah she will always be in my heart. Nothing can replace her love and every memories between me and her. Since she died i have no one. I dont have any siblings. Thats really makes me feel lonely. ☹☹
This reminds me of my mom, and she's gone to. She loved this show and at first I didn't get it, until I seen the first episode. I loved it since. Sorry for your loss, it sure is a great one.
"Look I don't mind your underage brother hanging arownd the bar,but I'm not paying him!! _Oh,it's allright,I work for beeer! -Allright!" Aaahhh this brings me such good memories from highschool😂😂😂😂😂
