Hey! Love the setup you got, I have all the exact same exhaust parts you have and am about to do a cat delete on my Tacoma, have you had any issues with the check engine light popping with the test pipe on there? If so, how have you remedied this? I was thinking of going ahead and installing an o2 sensor simulator to prevent any issues but wanted to hear from someone who has the exact setup I do. I'm trying to see if the simulator can be skimped for a minute before I either have to buy a cat or just keep it catless like originally intended. Wish all the best and love to see another Tacoma that's had some love over the years!
No check engine lights so far. I have a stand off connection for the rear O2 sensor ready as option one. Let me know if you find a signal generator; I couldn’t find one anymore.
@@craigphillips1047 good to know! There was a specific o2 simulator for the exhaust being made by URD for a while but its been discontinued by the looks of it. The other one that required a bit of wiring is made by Magnum Tuning. Not quite the plug and play that was on the URD sim but it seems to work well enough and really is just wiring to a 12v ignition source and to the downstream o2 sensor.
I ran mine ( 2000 Taco 4x4, 3RZ, auto trans ) without the cat & this test pipe for a few months, and never had a check engine light. But I could tell I was losing a little power in the low end, right at every gear shift of the automatic. Felt like a little timing was being pulled out for 200 to 300 rpm's, then the power came back in. Bought the same Pro Flow exhaust from LCE and the free flowing cat with 2 new Denso 02 sensors, and got my low end power back. LCE's website even says you'll always lose some low end power when deleting the cat. I've been running a shorty tri-y header all along.
Believe I had another video of the before. Think i improved 2 seconds or so. It feels like it is all in the higher revs. I have a hunch I’ve got some motor or automatic transmission problems that has me so slow overall. Compression has been suspect at times, checked out good when I crank each cylinder for 5-7 seconds. Are you running large tires? Gear ratio? Auto or manual?
