I did record this video in 2020, so the drives are even cheaper now! The one I've linked goes for around $35, and now you can pick up a 4TB drive for $50! Granted I haven't tested this out, but it still looks like an absolute steal for bulk data storage. You can get 4tb for 50$ now and it is usually new. Those high speeds you got in the beginning is from cache so the bigger files seen in your later test is closer to real world performance. Better catch performance helps tho. Good video.
Thank you for this video. I was looking around for cheap storage and needed some quick insight on this brand. Now I feel like the $35 for 2TB deal I found is not a bad for some very non-sensitive data.
I have a 7200 RPM model, so 100MB/s is about normal. I didn’t do this in my video but you can enable SSD caching in some NAS software to improve performance
