Thank you sooo much for featuring me on your video today. I currently love my 2013 Triumph Bonnieville so much and if I was only going to keep 1 bike, that would be the one. I really appreciate your channel as I have learned a couple things from you in regards to the starting issues you were having. Great info. Out of all the bikes I’ve had and currently have , think my Bonnieville and the CBF1000 stand out as some favourites. I know you have recently talked about the CBF, such a shame they discontinued it. The two worst bikes I ever owned where the Kawasaki Vulcan 750 and the TW200. Not that the TW is a bad bike, just that the one I bought was. Look forward to your videos. Can’t wait to see your Bonnie back! 👍Cheers!

Freddie! You don’t know what a Donkey jacket is? Great bit of kit in the day. Think of a sawn off waist length Duffle Coat, no hood and round buttons! Some had plastic shoulder covers! Trigger used to wear one in Fools and Horses. Surprised they never made a comeback! Warm and waterproof and cheap!

Hayabusa is a Japanese term for a peregrine falcon which guess what used to swoop down mountains and prey on blackbirds. Apparently that is why Suzuki chose the name. Omg at the time and still grabs me one of the sweetest engines pulls in any gear any speed the torque is incredible. Early brakes where cheese and suspension ok. Surprisingly comfortable. Nearly nearly…bought one aerodynamics just perfik a bubble of calm air at speed tucked in. Tested it back to back with a ZZR 1400 and that had the edge with more modern tek. Regret it still to say I actually owned one. Enjoying your chats and experiences of the road trips 👍

You're right about older bikes. About 3 years ago, I picked up a 1997 Honda CBR600F, immaculate with less than 2,000 miles. Fully comp insurance has never been more than £100, and it's a lot of fun. Less than 200kg and 95bhp. I have a modern bike too which is about 3 times the price to insure.

Hi Freddie. I would say that Suzuki were late to the show iro very fast sports tourers. The ZZR 1100 C1 arrived in 1990 and was an immediate success. Kawasaki upgraded The ZZR C to a D1 in 1992. A 180 mph top speed, 2 up comfort for fast long mileage cruising at around 50 mpg. The BHP was 150 from the 1048 CC engine but remember The RAM air carb system (also on the ZZx9R) used to give you a huge kick in the back boost at around 8000 rpm! This was immeasurable on a Dyno . The ZZR 1100 came in restricted format but we used to derestrict it with a £50 set of carb tops! They were great great bikes! In 1996 Honda released Their Blackbird sport tourer which was slightly quicker and then Suzuki with the larger engined Hyabusa in 1996. I owned a ZZR110 C1 and a D1. We travelled all over Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa without a hitch. Rear tyres however rarely lasted more than a thousand miles! I still have my D1 but it needs recommissioning and I haven’t ridden it for quite a few years sadly. Many wonderful happy memories! They were great bikes!

A donkey jacket is like what bin men used to wear, a course black woolen material with a shiny black material across the shoulders. Well, that's what I had from work in the 90's, it might have been different in the 70's.

Ipswich had great biker pubs in 80s when I started riding. The Running Buck and Railway in Ipswich. The Wheatsheaf at Tattingstone on the A137 and the White Hart in Mainingtree. Bulldog bash and Kent custom show. Top bands , strippers and no police cameras. They had to catch you in them days. Suffolk police only had 1300 mk2 escorts. We have become very tamed bikers now.

How about this Freddie, I bought a 1991 zzr1100 with only 18040 miles on the clock last November. I spent spring and early summer totally renovating it, then wanted to ride it so looked online for an insurance quote. The first one I got was from Swinton insurance for £75.18p fully comp, but get this, that was without any no claims discount and no excess in the event of a claim. I have spent this summer on a 147 bhp 175mph missile of a bike for less than £1500, can anyone beat that? Loved that video by the way, regards Stephen Latchford.

In 1977 only the wealthiest could afford leather jackets, for the poverty stricken you might be surprised to learn we wore Belstaff wax cotton trail masters and the associated trousers if it rained. On our feet it was Derriboots - a kind of bikers welly boot. A few years ago a chucked out 2 complete sets of Belstaffs having no idea they had become so popular and expensive.

Back in 1999 I owned a new Honda Hornet 600, a great bike at the time but a friend had just bought a new gold Hyabusa, the stories of just how powerful and fast this bike was were enough to reject any offers of a ride on one but I was offered a blast on his, to be honest I didn't want to ride it because of it's reputation but with other bikers looking on I went for it, I rode it sensibly never pushing those horses and enjoyed the fifteen minute ride and on my safe return I explained it was just a big friendly pussy cat, actually a pleasure and joy to ride.

Hi Freddie I grew up in my family's Honda 5 STAR dealership in the 70's, the last factory course i did was for the CBX1000 which was way to big for me. I built my CD175A5 out of the crate in 1975 but had to tax it in 1978 as my car packed up. I just sold it to a very old friend but after looking at your RE video reviews I bought a Hunter 350 this year. I love it but its too heavy for this 66 years old and my feet only just touch the ground! Any suggestions for lighter lower bike?

I look forward to the day you finally put your hand in your pocket and buy a bike …… hope you don’t sell your triumph, it’s worth sod all but it must be part of you by now. But it’s definitely time you bought a newer bike for future adventures. You must be tempted by something much different but the obvious bike for you is the T120. Then you would definitely appreciate the extra power but fall in love all over again. The Enfield , whilst a great bike , would make you feel short changed eventually. I think you are a similar rider to me so you don’t need mad power, but 48 just wouldn’t cut it on the trips you make. I have gone down to 57 hp on my Harley street 750 and it’s just enough. I know, one day, I will go for the T120. It really is the perfect bike.

Hi Fred, whilst owning a vfr800 fi I test rode a honda blackbird in around 1989 ish. It frightened me to death holding 3rd gear to the redline. The surroundings were moving faster than my brain. Ithought my vfr was a fast nice manageable bike. This thing put me off blackbird/hayabusa style bikes. Hard to turn due to their length wheelbase and just so overpowered. Admittedly was Ona test drive so giving it some beans so don’t know what like to ride sensibly but both bikes supremely over engineered and reliable. I was following a hayabusa in wales recently and in the bends I was easily able to keep with him but as soon as there was a straight it was like I was stood still and the exhaust sounded like he wasn’t even gunning it just using oodles of torque. Looked so uncomfortable though to stay in that position for hours
