Our fullbacks are encouraged to fly forward to overlap, underlap, or combine with wingers and central midfielders in order to create 2v1, 2v2, and 3v2 overloads in the attacking phase.
Overlap pattern: As the 7 or 11 receives to feet, the 2 or 3 sprints forward around the ball carrier to receive a pass into space along the exterior. Variations may occur.
Combination pattern: The 2 or 3 plays a wall pass with the 8 or 10 to progress forward up the exterior. Variations may occur.
