Very helpful style--where you train another and I get to see lots of reps from you both. The ongoing mic'd advice and reason for doing it makes it even better for me

Great video! Quick question. What is your perspective on grip transition when going from aggressive eastern grip forehand topspin dinking to backhand resets-slices? Are you switching back to continental for your backhand or maintaining your eastern grip? Thanks!
@BrionesPickleball
@BrionesPickleball 6 месяцев назад
Personally, I switch. Other pros do it differently

using the Luxx now I see... how about showing some two-handed backhand topspin flips vs backhand slices.. from my tennis ... I tend to spin those back when I feel the pressure

For some reason, my forehand dinking improved after I started focusing on using my upper arm - tricep and bicep -- to propel the ball rather than my wrist and forearm. Does this make sense?

Good video. Jordan, you need to work on keeping score! I think you really were ahead about 9 to 5 on the even court dinking!

Thank you for posting this and all the other videos - I find them very helpful. Regarding the technique of your student ... It appears to me that during drills with the ball he often changes the swing path by going more across his body (rather than low to high) and slightly closing the racket angle, which results in more solid contact (more hitting and less brushing) and reduced spin. Would you agree/disagree with this observation? Another question. At the beginning of the video, you mentioned that in order to keep the dinks from going too long we should reduce racket speed, which inherently reduces the amount of speed we can generate. Would also you advise your students to focus on making thinner contact with the ball (more brushing and less hitting) which reduces forward momentum of the ball while increasing the amount of spin and giving us more margin for error due to higher arc?

There are so many factors when working with an individual. This was the first time ever that I met him, and the first time I’ve seen his game. After working with hundreds of students, slowing down their swing speed fixes a lot of issues. Sure, brushing up on the ball is key, but I started with swing speed first. His technique was already something that I could work with, so I didn’t want to adjust it too much. The result of his dinks were amazing.

Maybe soften his grip a little? Seems like his wrist is locked up.

Good video. He seems afraid to topspin his backhand or doesn’t know how.

We didn’t work on that. Most people don’t have topspin on their backhand btw

Tell this man so to stop apologizing.. every time he said sorry the next ball was worse. Thinking too much.
