yup that saw was just idiotic. It is much cheaper and easy to buy ryobi saw than build one from devalti.

It isn't always about practicality with people like this.. it's about creativity and an inquisitive mind. Imagine if the Wright brothers hadn't decided to see if their vision of an airplane was possible. I'm sure by now we'd have figured it out, but how much later? Certainly not in time to have airplanes assist in The First Great War. And where would air travel be today? Would we have discovered jet engines yet? I love this guy's creativity. Sorry, not trying to insult.. just being silly.

I mean if I need an air pump, I just turn the drill sideways and the fan in the drill will clear the dust off my saw table.

Not sure I would actually use any of these devices, but the video is a great demonstration of simple engineering principles such as converting cyclic to linear motion, as well as machines such as diaphragm and impeller pumps. Good work

Blizzardesigns Nope. The pipe is afraid of sharp surfaces so it melts. Just like planes. Planes doesn't fly! God keeps them up there.

crazyPT This vid was great, however, you should go into more detail during projects like these, like the size of bit, the diameter of the circle drill tool, things like that. I believe more people would be able to do them if you had the items in the description.

No kidding. That's a $130 battery. A Dewalt 20v reciprocating saw is only $99. Book smarts doesn't equal common sense.

YES! I worked on a show where we had moving stairs that people stood on (about 2 feet tall). We used miluakee drills as the motors, with a sprocket in the chuck and a bicycle brake cable and brake lever pulling the trigger. We used them on the slowest speed and they still went FAST. Once we turned them to the faster setting and raced them across the stage. Really fun. It's totally a doable cheap way to make a go kart

Let see I can cut bananas with a $5 dollar knife, pvc pipe with a $15 pipe cutter , blow air with a $30 compressor , and buy a $30 dust buster but I should use a $100 drill and take time and materials to did it your way instead. All while listening to stupid music.

I've read a few posts now. Not all so please forgive me if I am reiterating other folks comments. This is a perfect example of design i.e. not consumer ready product. 'Design' is about thinking 'Outside the box' sometimes. Is it perfect? No. Would I do it that way? No. However, the design principles are sound. If some what 'Embryonic'. I learned a long time ago that I will never stop learning. The paper disk cutting through plastic pipe. I liked that. The reason I liked that, I hadn't considered that as an option. Bravo.

The paper pipe saw is useful. Although, you have a miter saw already which is really better for that anyway... The rest are... eccentric? Cool but impractical as hell.
