Female buns sure do like to dig! And Snow is no exception! After she dipped her toes in the ocean the other day maybe she wanted to keep the beach vibe going and play with more sand! The baby buns are almost as big as Mom now! They are growing so fast! I love the content of your channel and enjoy each video a lot!
Thanks. She is now digging small holes in the front yard now. The beach triggered her to do a new activity. I guess I could plant something in the holes she made.
It was stated in "Watership Down" that they had to seek out the female rabbits to do the digging as the females/does are responsible for the digging in the fluffie or colony of rabbits. I suppose it makes sense as the females must have A good burrow for their nest.
@@DrDeliciou Yes I also read Watership Down and it is in my top five fave books of all time. Books about rabbit behavior and how to care for them also discuss how the females are instinctually drawn to digging to prepare homes for the babies, so it really is an inborn thing for them. I just recently found out that a group of greater than ten bunnies is known as a "Fluffle" and I'm so tickled about that, and that you used that word! Epic!
This is where I was confused about the male rabbit I called Beast. He behaved like Bigwig. He was unusual as he did all the digging. He made many tunnels, but perhaps after that his wife came along and widened them. He dug so much that he wore out his back. He was the free range bunny with his Wife. Now Blue Bell took over as free range but he never digs and always bows down to.... Widow. You can see that at the end of the 3 minute recent swim video a little. Widow will not let any female near her territory and I know she will do what the General did like in Watership down. I have to build out more fencing with separate areas in this little yard.
@@jstewart627 Some males also dig a lot, but generally in a large group the males go around fighting each other for alpha dominance and the does are digging away trying to escape them!! I saw Beast trying to fight with Blue Bell in your videos. He is like Bigwig for sure I thought of that after I saw that video of him being so aggressive. I've noticed from your videos that Blue Bell is a bit submissive and a more gentle male than Beast was. I also noticed that Snow seemed to like Blue Bell, sooooo maybe just maybe he is the Dad of the snow babies? As far as bunnies backs go, they have a well known tendency towards spine issues especially if they tend to be very active and are getting older. I always cradled my bunny and never let her legs thrash around as their spines are highly prone to injury. I had her for ten years she was a great bunny her name was Lulie.
