Try to compress drums bus with analog EQ. Nice amount of input gain will saturate yor signal (and limit it for squash) and you will be able to manipulate your tone like in tube amp. Nice tip for parallel chain or if you want to slightly color your drums bus...

I usually use SSL compressors, from waves or from Solid State Logic and to add saturation I use FabFilter's Saturn because it allows me to add or reduce saturation to specific frequencies, I never thought Devil Loc could be used that way too so I will try it for sure, you rock Kristian!

I use either TDR Molotok or mostly Analog Obsession FETISH (1176 based plugin) for Drum Bus compression For Saturation on Drums I use Gem Mod (Tube style saturator with a Dimension C style/Flange/chrous) and Audio Assault Head Crusher V1 Tape Saturator (V2 is not as Good, very Buggy, but V1 is brilliant and has a few different flavours, also the free version is brilliant on drum and master buses, I use it on Master bus) I use Klanghelm DC1A3 on Overheads/Ambient Mics (more DC1A3 = more smooth, controlled, not dirty at all) , Free Clip (Venn Audio) on snares, for extra punch

I wish I could like this video a hundred times. My mind is blown by these plugins. So easy to create that result! I'm thinking I'll grab the last two... For me it's great to have those extreme options outside of a stock plugin, and those both have ridiculous bite... I really don't intend to ruin Kohle's business here, but Focusrite users have Parallel Aggressor for free in their interface bundle. I'm all in for Devil-Loc, and ever so often going berzerk with all-buttons-in with practically any 1176-style compressor on the room mics gets me there as well. I haven't tried the Korneff one yet, but it sure is tempting.

I go through hardware now (WesAudio Dione) but before that I tried so many plugin compressors but kept coming back to Eventide's Omnipressor or Kush Audio's Silika. Of the two, I might favor Omnipressor slightly but it adds "analog" noise that you can't turn off & is just too loud for some mixes.

#1: I want a compressor that has the Kohlekeller logo on it 😢😢😢 Do you have merch, ToneLord? Like a hat or a hoody with your logo on it? I'd rock one of those every single day. I don't like T shirts with big logos all over the stomach. Maybe across the chest, but preferably a small logo over the left breast is what I really like. All black. I'd wear that. #2: Pro L-2 FOR THE WIN 🔥🔥🔥 #3: Never tried anything from Soundtoys. Justin Colletti from sonicscoop talks about them a lot, and I value everything he has to say about mixing/mastering almost as much as I value anything you have to say. I've also never tried "Baby Audio", but I agree, the name doesn't sound particularly metal. "HAIL SATAN! And now a word from our sponsors, BABY AUDIO!" Yyyyyyea, lol. #4: How do you feel about Transient Shapers, like the DS-10 from XLN Audio? I downloaded the free trial for it but I did it way too early on in my re-entry to Audio Production and didn't really understand how to get the most out of it. Where do they (transient shapers) fit into all this? Anyway, great video as always! I will look into Soundtoys and "Baby" Audio (looooool)
