I love my CDJ3000 from the day one. I can honestly see why Pioneer is the number one choice for so many DJ's around the world. Pricewise its another story but then again let's face it; this is the product which is aimed at big venues, festivals etc. it's not really meant to be used in the bedroom... Personally as long as I can afford it this will always be my number one choice.

Yes your on point with this bro.. CDJs are not designed to be software controllers.. People need to understand that CDJs are real stand alone media Players designed for professional venue use by professional DJs without need for computers or software. The extra processing is for the higher sound quality on big Festival like sound systems, which a regular tiny controller with large cue buttons is not designed for. And most paid DJs need amazing sounding equipment to meet obligations of high paying customers. Pri yon Joni has an excellent explanation of the intent, use, and design of the CDJ3000... Controllers rely on the computer to operate, although they do the job quite well, they will never have the sound quality of a professional stand-alone DJ system from a pricing standpoint.

Tbh Pioneer doesn't have a lot of headroom to experiment in their flagship line up . The majority of people want familiarity shifting from some home controller to a club cdj setup and not get overwhelmed with features . I would atleast need some time to get used to denon's deck and software before i can start which is not the case with denon. If you belong to the bunch of guys who only wants features then denon's are the way to go . But if you want something more reliable and familiar pioneer is the only option . I definitely won't feel as confident with denon's at the club .

@@arkaprabhabanerjee1639 I switched from Pioneer to Denon a few months ago. Kinda like yourself I thought it would take some time to get the grips with the Denon so decided to make the change during Covid. I reckon after only a few hours I was playing on them like I was using them years. Came really quickly, so for anyone thinking of changing I wouldn't let that stand in your way. If you have been playing on Pioneers for a few years you will have no problems. By the end of day one you will know 90-95% of it's functions and will be mixing to the same level you would on pioneers. As for the software it wasn't great when I started using it but after a few updates it's much better and with the new beta versions we finally got elastic beat grids. My only real gripe with the SC5000 is the tension on the platters. That did take some getting used to. I have had to change the way I do my spin-backs because I can't get a light enough tension. Having said that I have got used to it now so it's not the issue it was in the beginning.

@Star Lord But they really seem to try and get the heat. I can see why they removed CDs and not gone radical with two decks and WiFi, but two ports total and the lower amperage on the charging port are something that would've been so cheap to do and yet they didn't go for it. It doesn't even support SD cards over 32GB! It feels like they wanted to make this a sidegrade. And with clubs going extinct or at least very much lacking money at the moment, this only leaves streaming festivals and rich-ish pro DJs as the potential buyer base. Pushing such a lackluster product under these conditions doesn't seem like the right call to me.

Awesome to see your review Carlo! Just a response about the cue point placement. There was extensive research done with 200 artists about the hot cue location. It was found that being away from where they rest their hand, and being closer to where they used to be located from the upper left was preferred. Being above the jog wheel prevents from accidental trigger, and it serves as an extension to the touch display. You have to think, these CDJs will be used side by side in groups of 4 to 6. Unlike a 2 deck controller, the wider you go, the more likely your hand covers over the the lower part of the jog wheel. The reason for Hot Cues instead of performance pads is for a related reason. Once again, they will be using sets of 4 to 6 decks. It is very easy to lose track of what pad mode you are in. On a 2 deck controller or 2 channel mixer, not so much. But 4-6, you run the risk of making a mistake. At a high profile event on stage at a festival with a big artist, it's not exactly something you want to happen. 1 set of hot cues for 1 function keeps you from making these mistakes. For the users who will be using these, hot cues is all they want and need. I don't see an Ultra headliner switching over to hit the slicer.

From a DJ perspective no reason to have this at home unless you want to have the exact same gear as the club... Imo keye furures for my liking 1. Updated sound procesing. This is a very nice future for DJs who use wav/flac/aiff playing at huge venues with top of the line audio set up. The clubbing experience will get even better for the audience. High end D/A converters can cost more than one 3000 player alone, so its nice to see pioneer pay attention to the most important thing, making uncompressed sound better. Remember, the soundprocesing part alone can justife its price point compared to Denons flagship modle.. just saying 2. Changing keye: this is HUGE imo and it was about friggin time. That it took pioneer until 2020 to implement a future theyve already technicly mastered (key changing along with the tempo fader) is beyond me. This needs to be a feature on entry level products as well imo.

Also, its a nice thing thats it expensive as long as the price reflects quality components and durability.. this thing should be able to handle use 50 hrs a week, 365 days a year, for many years + transport. If it turns out to be a durable product $2200 is a very good price imo.

As someone who comes from turntables, the idea that moving platters are a step too far for a lot of DJs seems weird. Im ot one of those vinyl purists, I just bought some SC6000Ms, and DJing on static platters is a skill too. Its just weird that a moving platter is seen as something too radical

I went for the SC5000 and still don't regret it to a tiny bit. You get them for around 1000$, buy two of them (getting 4 layers) and it's still less than ONE single, technologically inferior CDJ-3000. Former Pioneer users, but done with their "club standard" bs. They became lazy and greedy. I opted for progress and innovation. Also the forum and community is muuuch better.

Did you know that Denon DJ's Prime SC6000 has way more options, a better stability, a more sturdy casing, better aftersales, better warranty and a waaahaahaaahaahaaaayyyyyy better jogwheel (especially the SC6000M one, which is motorized) ? And that against a price that's 800 dollar cheaper. I wonder why Pioneer set the retail price so high. As you mentioned, very few DJ's are going to buy it. To be honest, I like the DDJ-SB2's jogwheel better than the CDJ2000. I can't say much about the CDJ2000NXS/2, since I haven't used it in a long time, but the little controller's jogwheels are quite astonishing. I've always liked Denon DJ over Pioneer DJ, not just because of the price, but mainly because of the used elements in their DJ gear. And still lots of people are bashing Denon DJ, being a premium Numark device. Which is not true, since InMusic owns both companies and both still have their véry own production line. Most people bashing Denon DJ have probably never worked with the premium devices anyway. I've got some top notch DJ's in my family (reallife family that is) and they absolutely LOVE Denon DJ's Prime equipment. Some of 'm even got rid of Pioneer DJ's gear, just because Denon DJ handles better in their genres (techno/dutch hardcore).

Denon is cool and price is great but you get what you pay for. The products are buggy and that is why they aren't industry club standard. With pioneer, you also get what you pay for and it is extremely reliable. As far as hot cue button placement, I can agree that they are dangerous, but the reason they are at the top and not the bottom is because many djs like to rest there palm on the bottom when pushing and pulling the track using the side of the platter. I think having them on the side somewhere would have been optimal, but there isn't much room there. Maybe they get rid of some things they don't need anymore, like the loop in and out buttons to make room while making the hot cue buttons smaller so they can fit, but that is tricky. I think for a lot of djs, the placement is ok. Most djs that want to do crazy stuff with the hot cue buttons will have a different piece of hardware for that. but that's just my 2 cents.

OK I might not agree with you on that one. A company I work for brought 4 CDJs 2000 Nexus 2s. After one month they were showing problems. The fucking thing stopped playing in the middle of the gig. Disaster. 2 players had issues early on. That's bullshit. The quality control is trash with Pioneer

Most people complaining about the CDJ-3000 haven't used one. People who actually work with club gear like Mojax have a different opinion. Every other deck looks outdated next to a CDJ-3000 because of the stacked waveform and better screen with a super-smooth refresh rate. It's built even more solid than the CDJ-2000NXS2, it loads tracks MUCH faster (even without gigabit ethernet, but it also has gigabit ethernet), it has improved hot cues and key sync, it can use channel 5/6 on a DJM-V10, and it sounds better with MP3s. The jog wheel of a CDJ-2000NXS2 feels a little squishy compared to CDJ-3000, and that's kinda crazy because the CDJ-2000NXS2 had the best jog wheel. Nobody needs the stacked waveform - learning that way might make you a worse DJ (like learning on a controller) because it's hard to make yourself mix with your ears instead of just looking at the waveform. But it's a VERY visible upgrade. If you have linked CDJ-3000s the waveform looks modern, and no other CDJ (Pioneer or Denon) has a modern UI. Trolls are always going to say Denon is better. They look like toys, and no club owner would ever buy them. They're not flimsy, but they don't have the build quality of Pioneer's flagship stuff. And it's an awful workflow if you need to burn a thumb drive to play on Pioneer gear because Prime can't export a Rekordbox thumb drive. Denon is cheaper so maybe that makes them better for some people. I saw Maceo Plex bring in Denons to a club and he might actually prefer them. But I've never seen an actual professional say Denon was good - except Laidback Luke, and that's because he's their "brand ambassador" and Denon paid for his house. It's funny that people like to complain about the hot cues. The hot cues are directly under the screen, and the bottom of the screen is where you can see the cues on the track waveform, and it's where you tap the screen to needle search. It's nice having the hot cue buttons next to the place where you see the hot cues. It makes a lot better sense than having them somewhere else. Controller DJs want the buttons along the bottom, but DJs who are used to club gear don't want that.
@cosmologicdj3994
@cosmologicdj3994 3 года назад
Have you ever tried the denons? The new SC6000s bring a lot more innovation than the CDJ 3000 and the load times are quite similar. Here in Germany most of the big clubs have the denons and about 40% of the smaller clubs. They are a lot more intuitive and their built quality isn’t bad. Also you can plug rekordbox sticks into them and have all your hot cues and loops with the track information. Serato also can’t export into Rekordbox but engine prime can import a lot of dj softwares like Serato, rekordbox, Traktor etc. I know a lot of people who love them and I prefer them over pioneer. The only people I saw preferring pioneer were some guys who are playing pioneers since the Cdj 500 and even some of those still changed to denon.
@RaquelFoster
@RaquelFoster 3 года назад
@@cosmologicdj3994 I haven't tried the newer Denon stuff. I'm not even saying Denon is bad. It's just ridiculous to see so many people act like the CDJ-3000 has no new features and go on crazy rants about how much better Denon is when that's just not true. I said "it's an awful workflow if you need to burn a thumb drive to play on Pioneer gear." I know Denons can import a Rekordbox drive, but ... it seems a bit ridiculous to get Denon gear and use Rekordbox instead of Engine Prime. But that's what you have to do if you want to play on Pioneer gear, Prime can't export to a Pioneer-compatible drive. I'm not saying it's fair. You can blame Pioneer for not importing Denon USB drives. But you have to deal with reality if you want to play at clubs. That seems odd to say Denon is more intuitive. It's 99% the same as any CDJ. Even the phase meter looks exactly like a CDJ. And the parts where it's different from a CDJ are going to be unintuitive to anybody with experience on CDJs. Maybe things are totally different in Germany, but ... I don't believe you when you say the only people who prefer Pioneer are some guys who used CDJ-500s. DJs can use whatever gear they want, and most of the big ones have tour managers dealing with all that for them. But I've seen over 100 touring DJs in person in the past two years, and Maceo Plex is the only one who used Denon. Everybody uses Pioneer. Maybe they use Traktor/Ableton, too. Maybe they use an Allen & Heath mixer. But they rarely use Denon.

@@RaquelFoster I think when people say denon is better than pioneer in relation on their newest high end gear they mean that denon improved their players and put new features in them while pioneer took four years to make a new player and did not bring that much features you would expect for this time. I heard a lot people are calling pioneer lazy. Well to burn a thumb drive for playing on pioneers when you have the denons in your studio is stupid but you have the same export process with Serato or other dj softwares so I wouldn’t blame it on denon but on pioneer to not implement a import feature into rekordbox. Engine Prime by denon would have this feature. Of course the most touring DJs are on pioneer but that doesn’t make denon bad. Denon is used by big DJs like laidback Luke and Oliver heldens. I never had a problem with denon gear at a club. Everywhere I got booked they had denons or were ok with renting some for a night or I’m ok with even bringing them there if it’s not to far away. You don’t have to believe me that the only people preferring pioneer over denon are pioneer users since the first CDJs. I know some guys who were always turntablists and now got a SC6000 M and love it. Of course I get it when you were having a CDJs from the CDJ 500 to the CDJ 2000 NXS2 and you Switch everything feels a bit odd at first. But they are worth a try. The biggest difference I’ve heard people see between the players are the jogwheels and the pitch faders. The jogwheels feel different to me but I don’t have a favorite. The pitch fader on the other side feels kinda better on the denons to me. Get in the mix made a good Point on that in their comparison Video

Only people who dun receive cdj3000 will be honest about it. Watching other people saying how good it was because they got a pair from Pinoeer, now I know the truth.

If you run a stage at a festival, if you run a club, if you have a serious venue. But you know what? Even at 1-3 of my above, I still wouldn’t, even without covid, but these. They don’t offer up enough to make me want to change from the nexus and further: lots of people are turning up with controllers. Beyond that... I think I’d rather change up next time and buy denons, you know, go with someone who DOES want to be on the cutting edge
