Just a quick explanation of the new 4- Corners Plus cube from LanLan. I also included some comparisons between this puzzle and a couple of the similar puzzles that this one is based off of, and solves similarly to.

I love the design of this cube. But I wish it wasn't so stiff. This puzzle hurts to turn and I've probably only did a full solve once or twice. Now I barely touch the cube and if I do I just scramble it like a regular 4 corners cube. I wish this wasn't so hard on the hands.

Sorry for the delay, I'm still new to this whole RU-vidr, thing lol. I have small hands, so even the stiffer puzzles like the 4+4 Corners cube are tolerable for me. However, if you really like the look and idea of that puzzle I recommend you check out the Shuang FeiYan. The similarities are there, for sure. It's larger than the other two and out of the box it's substantially easier to turn. Thanks for the comment, btw!

I accidently scrambled my 4 corners Plus cube practicing different three piece cycles. Ughh, haha. When you drop that tutorial for the plus you're going to get a ton of views from me lol

I've tried filming it twice now, and both times I haven't been happy with the angles I get on camera and end up kind of rage quitting lol. Since you've made it clear that you're looking for the tutorial, do you mind if I ask a few quick questions? - What are you gonna be looking for most, getting it back to cubeshape, or rebuilding pieces once you've gotten it back to a workable shape? Both will be included, but I'm trying to figure out what I should put the bigger focus on. - How important are written algs for you? The notation for a puzzle like this is super clumsy to write. If you think that things will make sense just from slow turns and description of what's happening, it'll make the vid much easier to complete. - Is it gonna be super important for you to see every possible case? Do you think that just seeing the basis of how pieces move and how the setup moves work would be enough of a starting point for the tutorial/walkthrough to help you out? Thanks in advance for your help. I'm still new to this, but I'm very happy that you like the vids I have posted and find them helpful so far.

@PuzzleMax @PuzzleMax don't feel obligated if it's not working out. None of us want you to do something you don't find enjoyment in. It's a hard puzzle. It's a really hard puzzle, at least for me, haha. I love your tutorials because even though I know how to solve a lot of puzzles, you explain things in a way that help me understand why I do the algorithms that I do. Instead of memorizing a set of moves, I understand better what they do. As far as what would be the perfect tutorial outline, I believe getting the puzzle back into cube shape is very challenging. That would be a great starting point. I would say for a tutorial, just an overview of how to look at pieces and work out where they need to go. That would be very helpful. I don't think we need every single case. Maybe 2 to 3 different cases. That way, we can use setup moves to get them into 1 of the cases you supplied. If you can show the general gist of how to get it back to cube shape, it would be best. Just a quick this is what I'm looking for and how I move the pieces to unbandage them. Then after that a few cases of building to get a good feel of how the puzzle works. Personally I'm able to follow along with your set up moves to see how you manipulate the pieces to get into proper positions. Written algs are not important to me except for parity cases where I need to memorize. But again you explain things so well that I don't need to remember the written notation because you show me why I have to do what I do to fix issues. Slow turns and a description of what is happening is perfect. I'm gunna be honest, if someone is trying to solve this puzzle chances are they know the basics of cube solving so going into crazy detail is unnecessary. We should understand basic cube knowledge and even intermediate cube knowledge to attempt a puzzle of this caliber. At least enough to where we just need a little pick me up in certain spots to help us grasp the concept of each puzzle. Usually when I follow your puzzles I find I'm stuck on certain spots because I'm trying different cube techniques that don't work with that puzzle which forces me to go into circles. Example would be solving Jupiter crazy plus cube like it's mercury. It just doesn't work without the proper guidance of approaching it from a different angle. I hope that helps. And again, don't ever feel obligated to do something you don't find enjoyable even if it's requested. I'm here to support you because you explain things in a way that make more sense then other youtube tutorial channels. I don't want you to burn out over a puzzle you're having trouble recording just because it's requested. I would love to see you succeed.

@@lemonsledge5847 Thank you so much! I'm glad that you like my solving style and tutorial approach! Word's like those make for a huge confidence booster. Thanks for taking the time to answer those few questions for me. That gives me a much better idea of what to focus on with my next attempt at that tutorial. From what you've said, I think I may have been trying to show or explain too much in my previous attempts. Kind of confusing myself a bit during the solve. I'm looking forward to trying to make a tutorial for that puzzle again. It's kind of turned into a puzzle about a puzzle type of challenge for myself lol. I'm won't be rushing into it, but it's certainly near the top of my to-do-tutorial list. I've gained some filming/editing confidence while making the Crazy 3x3 tutorials, so hopefully just being a bit more relaxed on camera will also be a big help for myself. Thanks again for your support! Happy Solving!

@puzzlemax13 I've actually gotten pretty far on it. I think I ran into parity however. I have 2 flipped edges. I'm back in cube shape and all other edges are in place. My flipped edges are on 1 Pentagon face. Is this parity? Or did I mess it up when I scrambled it putting it into an unsolvable state?

Interesting! I really enjoyed the ShuangFeiYan, and at first glance assumed the 4-Corners Plus was the same puzzle. I think I'd find the extra bandaging more annoying than fun, so I think I'll give the 4-Corners Plus a miss.

Different brains different solves lol! I've actually started to enjoy the 4-Corner Plus way more. Honestly, I think the fact that it's slightly simpler make's it my friend. They're both great puzzles built off of a very unique base.

@zergosaur8523 Год назад
Surprised to hear that you say it's slightly easier, I would have guessed the bandaging would make it trickier. I'll take your word for it tho :) I remember that the ShuangFeiYan had issues where it was possible to make an 'illegal' turn which resulted in the puzzle getting badly locked up (did it myself at least once) - any idea if this is also a problem with the 4-Corners+ ?
@puzzlemax13
@puzzlemax13 Год назад
@@zergosaur8523 the illegal turns on the Shuang FeiYan actually started to really get on my nerves. I found myself accidentally making them more and more often during the scramble. Obviously my fault, turning too fast and hard, but still annoying lol. Then I'd come across parity looking situations and things that I didn't know how to fix with regular moves during the solve. It was pretty annoying. The bandaging on the 4-Corners Plus is minimal and pretty relative to the regular 4-Corners Cube so it makes it pretty simple for me to keep track of. Plus the build on the 4-Corners Plus is far more solid than on the Shuang FeiYan and I've never had any issues with illegal turns or pieces rotating in place.

is this a shape mod of the hexadecagon?
@puzzlemax13
@puzzlemax13 4 месяца назад
Possibly. I don't have the hexadecagon, so I can't confirm or deny. The bandaging may be slightly different, but the axes and possible turns certainly seem to be very similar.

@PuzzleMax my apologies I just saw this. The 4 corners plus please. I bought one on accident and now it's the only cube in my collection I can't solve.

@@rcrivelli1992 OK, cool. It was already on my list of future vids, but since you've requested it, I'll see if I can bump it up and make it sooner. No guarantees, filming and editing is still slow for me as I'm still taking this rather casually for now.
